    Rachel & D.J. have traveled part time in their self-converted school bus, named Frank, for over two years now. Originally inspired by Rachel's dad, D.J. & Rachel discovered the existence of tiny living & after careful consideration, they decided to give it a go. They converted their school bus soon after to enjoy during their vacation days, until they are ready to commit to full time.
    Frank is a 40 foot, 2005 Bluebird, with an 8.3 Cummins Diesel engine that has been renovated into a beautiful home on wheels. Their bus features a pullout couch, wood stove, full sized bathroom, beautifully done wood floors & ceiling, massive amount of counter space, & a main bedroom. Since Rachel & D.J. travel with their three animals, finding a bus that had enough space to accommodate the entire family was a non-negotiable for them & they are so happy they committed to a larger space.

    After a couple a videos about recirculating system, I thought it was a bad idea to just use off the shelf parts from water purifiers because it gets clogged easily with soap. Only from this video I realized it could work for people who just want running water without additional soap, relaxing showers indeed!🙌🙌

    • @theroadnottakenbus
      @theroadnottakenbus Год назад +2

      It took a lot of planning and trial and error but it really works. We went on a short holiday over the winter break and for 1 week we were able to utiliz 8 gallons of recirculating water. The tri-filter system coupled with the UV light purifier worked awesome and even when we dumped that water out it was still clear and probably usable...we were dumping due to being stationary the next several months. We love it!!!

    You two are a great couple! Love your honesty (and humor) about the $$ you put into your home (by choice). May your time in your home be as fun and interesting as the two of you are! Wishing your family great times!

    His building skills can be used on the road as others have proven. With a little imagination, you can both travel and work. I watch a sailing channel where she learned to sew, and made or remade upholstery, and they both learned fiberglass skills rebuilding their boat. They sailed to Mexico and worked for a year, then to Panama, etc. After a few years, their RUclips channel and Patreon support them. Assuming you have equity in your house, if you sell it, you can live for less on the road. You spent a lot, but you have a real boondocking home now.
