After dedicating three decades to working 60 hours a week and making a six-figure income, Murph realized that despite all the hard work, he had very little to show for it. The cycle of living paycheck to paycheck left him questioning the value of his efforts. For the past two years, he has called a 2000 Chevy short bus his home.Through this unique and minimalist lifestyle, Murph has discovered a world where he spends significantly less money to sustain his existence.

I relate to this man's story completely. Doing the exact same thing: six-figure income and keeping none of it. It feels like I'm always paying someone for some bill. The only difference is that I've been doing this for ten years, and he did it for thirty.

Six figures, especially on the lower end, is not much today if one has a mortgage, car payment, gasoline, utilities, eating out, drinking, entertaining, etc. I know, I was there. When my facility was shuttered, I was given the opportunity to transfer to another location. I turned it down and retired. Never looked back.

I was loving it until he started talking about running through his savings and living on $1k per month. I got the sweats just thinking about it. So I stand in high admiration of his courage to taking on a lifestyle in which he will have to live by his wits. I’m sure he has his stressful moments but having the ability to press forward on such an unconventional life at a relatively young age is something which very few of us possess. So, good for him and best of luck.

Well, more power to him! I think he is figuring out what is the most valuable in his life and finding ways to make it work. I believe and heard somewhere that in every few household in the neighborhood is one paycheck away from keeping their homes and the majority has less than $1,000 dollars in savings/emergency fund.. Nomadic lifestyle allows someone not to be stress so much since he will just purchase another vehicle if something happens to the one he already has, but buying your next house after losing one will take a miracle especially in this time and age.

First, kudos to anyone in any circumstances who follows their dream ...pushed or otherwise. BUT, there is a huge difference between 6 figures renting and 6 figures owning home/property. I feel like this gets lost A LOT on this channel. Yes, if you rent vs own ... not great. However, if you do own ... most of us who own, have realized an incredible amount of equity. In my own experience, owning has contributed GREATLY to my net worth. I can/could cash in. I also have owned an RV for 18 years ... now paid for. And while I do understand that in my own case, I worked to own ... now, at 68, I have MANY options despite not saving "enough": equity, nearly maxed out SS. We all make our choices and those choices have consequences ... good, bad or otherwise.

Then I got into trucking, where I worked running long haul for 30 years. My wife's health has gone downhill, and mine also to a degree, but after her second heart attack I retired and came home. Now I camp whenever I can. I would love to hit the road again but with my wife's health, that is impossible. But my spirit is out there. Always will be. Maybe one day I can roll again.

❤❤❤, Love this! Such a Great story, Oh!!
How I know the feeling of working and working and living paycheck to paycheck. I have no belief in corporate America. I have been absolutely sickened by how corrupt they are, how abusive they are to employees on so many horrible levels and how the government no matter who is in office applauds these corporations and assist them to continue to abuse and fail the people for financial gain.
Life is about voting for ourselves! Getting courageous, standing up, walking with pride because we are Worthy of creating, living our best life without the government.
We need to Vote for ourselves, believe in who we are and stop waiting around for these monkeys asses as they scratch and fart till each and every one of them decide "Our": Happiness, "Our" Worth.
You are a courageous Warrior! We all are and we all need to let that Warrior out and dance in the embrace and Love that we are. Take the steps and materialize into our true essence not tainted by limits of, hate, division and destruction.

I am so jealous! - Thirty five years ago, I made a huge mistake by buying an old, full sized school bus, investing a lot of money and time converting it into a camper, only to find that I couldn't get anything close to regular insurance for it, because it exceeded allowable length restrictions for a private vehicle. Just for liability, I had to go to what they called a "special state pool" of insurance that was impossibly high - more than $2500 a year, which would be about $7,000 to $8,000 today! So I couldn't put it on the road and ended up selling it for $1,000 to someone who lived in the country that used it for an accessory dwelling. - If I had only bought a SHORT BUS!...........

You sleep 8 hrs and work for someone else 8 hrs that's 2/3 your life for what? So you can live in a box with a fancy TV.? Lmao ive been a nomad for 25 yrs. I have 3 degrees and this and that like most people but it mattered not. The people and things I've seen and done you could NEVER buy. It might be scary at first bit I left home at 15 and never looked back.

Glad his conversion works for him. Looks nice and simple. People respond differently between skoolies and Class B vans. Would be interested in a CheapRVLiving video on how the public receives RVs based on RV type.

    • @victoriabaker4400
      @victoriabaker4400 10 месяцев назад +2

There is no doubt at all that standard RV builds encounter fewer barriers than skoolie and other nonstandard builds. For instance, some RV parks and campgrounds don't allow nonstandard builds. And law enforcement officials tend to make a judgement of automatically potentially suspicious. And same for the general public. Van builds that are more stealth won't encounter it so much, but skoolie definitely will. Otoh, folks in skoolies find congenial company pretty easily because you're wearing your heart/spirit openly. I've traveled in several different types of live in vehicles, plus moderated a skoolie chat list for a while. I'm no expert so this is just a quick overview.

Now I do what I want & when I want to do it! I'm now living life according to my terms. No longer living the way I was programmed by the system to live. I have less money but I am happier living the vanlife. I wish I would of done it sooner! It's my time now to live as I please!

cool dude, but i believe his definition of living paycheck to paycheck differs wildly from that of most people - i mean, he had enough money to buy a bus and finish converting it, plus an entire year (or more) to live off of his savings.
don't get me wrong, i'm super glad he got to do that, and i'm sure he deserved it, but i always get hopeful when someone who's reportedly really tight on money manages to get a vehicle they can live in, or a tiny house, or such, but then you learn they actually had lots of money saved up, or something, and it snatches all that newfound hope - i hope someone gets this...

6.5L diesel is one of the easiest engines to work on, everyone hates on it, but I've found it to be one of the best engines I've owned. I have 375k miles on mine, it's a 97. Easy to work on and parts are cheap.
