This is the holy grail of video channels for me. I have the exact RV package ion my 79 Econoline. I gutted it 4 years ago and will be doing a fresh remodel and launching a youtube series about it this summer. I've only watched the first of your videos, but will devour your content. All the best!!
Every one has their skills, everyone has their experiences and everyone has a dream. To put these all together is what a person is. You lay down your experience and your thinking, not in a “I’m right” way but in a way to allow the thinkers in the RUclips world understand where and why you are doing it the way you do
Gorgeous video. The music, the dog, the voiceover. Calming as heck. Though slightly annoyed I didn't find you later so I could have binge watched this series !
Hi, three suggestions and piece of unsolicited advice: 1. Check out Seelevel monitoring system but Garnet Industries. The sensors are mounted outside the tanks, are really accurate, and it's made in Texas. 2. Buy a standard height ceramic toilet with foot valve. Just trust me on that. 3. Check out Progressive Dynamics converters. They offer a lot of features, are substantially lighter than others, and are basically silent. 4. The advice is to use a gas/AC fridge. Even with solar, if you're parked for a couple cloudy days in the forest on the coast, you'll constantly be checking your batteries. Thanks for putting out such great content, and hello from Springfield, OR!
A gas fridge will shut off if it the camper isn't dead level. They are a pain. They will be travelling during winter so a cooler might be more practical. Or he might put a generator on board and use that to recharge his batteries when there is cloudy weather. A 12 volt fridge is pretty expensive but you know I wouldn't be surprised if he doesnt rig up a wind generator lol
Can’t wait to see the finish product, my family and I (wife, 2 boys11 & 13) just travelled half way around Australia and seeing your van brings ideas of adventure and free open roads, thanks for the vid great work
We had this rv but it was an '91. We purchased it when it was about 16 years old. I used that shower all the time. I am short and it worked for me. We had thought of putting storage shelves there as we felt we would never use it as a shower. But then we started dry camping in a state park and I hated all the spiders. So I started using the shower and never returned to the camp showers. But the tight quarters got old after a while and we ended up trading it in and got a class c that we love. Can't wait to see your finished product.
You never cease to amaze me, with your skills, determination, and common sense. Definitely my favorite RUclips channel. PS - I wish you’d tell the story of Kelly and you!
hey guys! I just wanted to reach out and say thanks for being the only one to have a van just like my girlfriend and i AND make videos about it! yall have the same exact plan lol, we did trips before renovations in the.... unique 80's layout. we even have a black cat and dog odly enough. so now that it sounds like were stalkers. I currently am 30 percent through the rebuild I was hoping we could have a conversation about your experiences maybe bounce a couple ideas off you, it would mean a lot and help tremendously, I'm just a bit overwhelmed lol. however I realize you have a life, likely a busy one at that so if your unable, I'm creative and I'll figure it out! in either case thanks again and wish yall the best adventures in life!
I really try to avoid and skip commercials when and where ever I can... Exept for yours Justin!! I really enjoyed the sponsorspot :D Keep up the amazing work :) greetings from a 105°F germany ^^
Those are so cool. Crazy how the van thing has come full circle....I love seeing how people convert Sprinters. With all the new technology, you can make a really sweet setup.
Great video! We started out in a camper van, brings back lots of memories. We have since moved into class C rvs. Just a thought from experience, you might want to replace the floor with a laminate rather than carpet. It’s much easier to keep clean. You can always put down area rugs. Just a thought from experienced campers. Can’t wait to see what you do with the remodel!
I am so amazed by your courage going into such a project !! The task seems dawnting, but I am sure the result will be worth it ! Greetings from Switzerland !
Fantastic as usual, you’re gonna have to change your profile picture and have all 3 of you in there. I’m surprised Kelly hasn’t said something about it. Keep the wonderful videos coming guys and gall Greetings from 🏴
I'm really glad this popped up on my feed! I have a no #2 rule as well even though my spaces were pretty large, it just makes sense. I like that you weren't destructive with your demo'ng of the van. You seem very methodical :-).
As camper van floor plans go, this model is one of the best BEFORE you tore it out. Sure hope it's worth the effort of your makeover. Planning on buying one and just lightly modifying the bathroom. I sense the tubs are for kiddos, and adults are supposed to stand up and take a shower. Curious how the finished product looked. You are quite talented in all your mechanical skills.
Great video! Looking forward to follow this. A tip about the fridge, make the extra investment and go with one that runs on propane as well on electricity. If you’re going to free-camp this is going to make a big difference. I made a conversion, and choose only electricity. Ended up costing me more when I had to install extra solar and battery. Good luck!
I see you cutting it in half and making it longer and taller! lol Looking forward to this series, I love watching you come up with cool ideas. I also have to say you are one of the best YT creators that does your sponsors well for supporting you.
I did the same project on a 76 Dodge Explorer . It turned a lot of heads when I was out on the road . My mistake was that it had no auto A/C . Those old wing windows just didn't cut it during mid summer heat .They were great for depositing angry bee's in your lap !
Great video! Really enjoyed it. Revamping a van is a huge undertaking that's for sure. Hey! Next time you engage in one of those types of rip it out, throw the dirt and mildew out, PLEASE invest in a face mask, eye protection and a good pair of utility gloves! At the point when you were ripping away the toilet and said how messy that was I said out loud.."Wouldn't that be so much better with a good comfy pair of gloves!! 😉😉😎
Put cargo nets in the ceiling. It's a great place to store clothes or things you don't really use too often. You basically have an entire floor's worth of storage space up there.
I can't wait to see the two of you put your creativity to work on this project! I'm working on my own camper, so I look forward to stealing some good ideas.
I have a 1987 Chevrolet Craftsmen with a nearly identical interior layout. So similar, in fact, it actually felt like you were tearing my camper apart while you were tearing yours apart. I look forward to the progress on this project to see if you come up with anything I could do as well.
I did the same thing to my chinook camper van. But I gutted the walls as well and insulated with rigid foam boarding. Made a YUGE difference from the crapper fiberglass batting.
Great work dismantling! I guess it helps to be a farm boy to gain strength and know how to fix things. You stripped it down so much, you might as well have bought a new van, although this one does have some vintage character and costs a lot less.
We are redoing our 1980s Dodge Conversion Van RV right now. We finished the tear out and repaired all the leaks. We are aiming for it to take 3 years. We picked the van up for free 10 years ago with 4,600 kms on it. Seems a squirrel go into to it and chewed a hole in a couch cushion. The owner was deathly afraid of them so she called us in as she knew we hauled scrap on the side. She wanted it gone. 🤔 She signed it over to us and we took it ......to our house instead of the scrap yard! 😊 Cannot fix stupid! We went every where in that thing! She is awesome! Never did fix that hole the squirrel chewed in the cushion. 🤣
I subscribed and look forward to watching your build, I installed a Natures Head composting toilet in my van I highly recommend it and have a video showing it and how easy it is to maintain it. Good luck.
I found a guy who made his cabinets with 1" Ridgid foam insulation, painted with Kilz then coated with fiberglass screen, then Kilz'd again. Very light and strong replacement for plywood. Worth a try, or test at least.
Consider Paulownia as a wood species for internal remodelling (cabinets and such) if you are concerned about weight. Haven't used it much myself, so I can't say for sure it would work in a camper. But it is very light weight and it is _real_ wood (as opposed to the plastic laminate stuff) with a proper wood look & feel and a good bite for screws and other fasteners. Good luck with your project. As with all your videos, I'm really looking forward to follow you along...
The shower and toilet are arguably the most important components of a camper. Why have a camper if you can’t drop fat dookies or shower? What’s your plan?
Chris Baudoux you must be a city boy. We van camp I’ve had 5 vans, there are so many options for hygiene while camping that don’t involve using up limited van space and the extra weight.
wow i've never seen a van like this. but i totally want to do a van conversion too. im a 19 year old barista living in austin tx. rent is super expensive and i cant really afford it without a roommate. my moms totally in on the idea of me doing this!
DC powered ice chests for your refrigerator replacement and a possible solar system with an additional battery? Want to really save weight you could use aluminum instead of wood for your cabinets at least a portion of them? Some type of thermal insulation on the floor and a laminate for your main walkway in the middle of the van? Tankless hot water heater and some kind outside shower connection? Some kind of awning?
@@timfrank7461 Both!! I thought it was a cow at the beginning of the video until the dog raised his head. AND when he said he loved how it sounded with Kelly's Irish accent, I was (at first) bummed I didn't get to hear it... and then a few minutes later when he then did include her accent... I too loved it!! 😍 It was great how he teased it and made you think for a bit you wouldn't get to hear it. Made it even better.
When you gave the old cushion to Drake... 👌👌👌
What a good boy he is.
Drake was saying"Thanks Daddy!"
I love Drake and his handsome Daddy
Really looking forward to this series! Can't wait to see what you can do to put new life into that old camper.
I love how calming these videos are
never clicked so fast - really enjoying your style of videos and narrating :) greetings from germany

Just when I didn't think you could get any better, you add Kelly and her fantastic accent. :>)
She's white. ICE will leave her alone.
Finally! More to come and I could not be happier. The Mrs. additional narration = 👍🏽

Any day that I come home from a long stressful day of work and there's a new Rainfall Projects video ready to help me relax is a great day!

The one thing I miss most from the 1980's Econoline vans were those awesome wing windows up front.
Yep,so if u want little bit of air u dont need to fold down the whole big window

I love your work and I think I'm addicted to your videos! Thank you for the effort that you've put in to them. Can't wait!
Now this is something completely different!

Every thing looks like it's coming out easy. Gotta love that!
Not a drop of rain in the entire video. Great project, I look forward to the continuation.
Excellent as usual!!! Look into Novakool fridges, they are kind of expensive but are very efficient and run on 12 volts.
I did the same project on a 76 Dodge Explorer . It turned a lot of heads when I was out on the road . My mistake was that it had no auto A/C . Those old wing windows just didn't cut it during mid summer heat .They were great for depositing angry bee's in your lap !

Rainfall projects AND a campervan build, two of my favourite things! Greetings from Sydney, come visit some time ;)
Charles Lark Not sure which road would get us there, but that would be an epic first road trip!
@@rainfallprojects501 Maybe you can work out a deal with Mr. Lark to swap campervans. He can discover Oregon while you and Kelly cross the outback.

The upper bunk is not for people afraid of tight spaces ! I like the over all van .

This is maybe the most content man on this accursed site.
Lol I was looking for the next video on this. Then I realized it’s only a week old now. I can’t wait to see what you do with this old camper van.
