- VAN TOUR | Retro VAN BUILD that sleeps 4 and has a Bathtub!
This week our good friends Travis and Amber drove their self-converted retro van about a mile up the road and so we could do a van tour! In a world full of sprinter conversions, it's honestly refreshing to see a retro van being brought back from the dead, and all for just at $10k! You can find them both on Instagram, Travis is @moutainside_metalworks and Amber is @mrs.amber.allard.

Buslife and vanlife are the best. Bus conversions skoolies and RV are tiny home, tiny house. Traveling to Key Largo Florida. Solar panels with lithium batteries. - Хобби
The tub is what sold me.
I can see myself in it with the back doors open, bubbles in the tub, whiskey in hand. Overlooking the ridge at sunset. Haha
✌️
What a man! His wife & kids are so fortunate. May God bless & protect!❤
That is the exact van I'm looking for when I sell my bus I need something to stand up in but the bus is just too big for me with my disabilities like they said I waited to retired cause I wanted to travel and now with disabilities it's hard I got the bus but it's huge and it's only me my furbaby passed away last week so it's just me now so van will be good anyway stay safe stay strong stay healthy God bless and enjoy life great video✌💖💪👨🍳🎅🚌👍
Yeah I think these vans could be perfect for a lot of people and they're so much cheaper than the sprinters!
So sorry to hear about your fur baby 😰 Heart breaking. Stay positive and stay safe! Thanks so much for watching by the way!
I'm sorry that you lost your furbaby. Maybe you could adopt a senior pet? You'll never replace the pet you lost, but for companionship.... a new one could enrich your life with its own unique love. So many in shelters needing a home. A win-win for you both!
Very charming. I love how they redone the interior.
Thanq for showing us your home on wheels,
I really like the blind on the windscreen.
The bunk above the drivers seat looks very claustrophobic, but the children are only small, they probably think its an adventure.
Its a nice home on wheels.
Please stay safe on your journey.
I need to know more about that bathtub!!
WOW, what a great reno! Kudos to you both for being such wonderful parents, truly, I mean it. You are providing adventures and learning experiences for your children that they would never get in a sticks and bricks school. And for only $10k! I'm a travel consultant (currently still laid off due to COVID bringing travel to a halt) and I have clients who've spent $10k+ for their family of four vacation to the south and that's just one week! How many fun-filled weeks will your boys have with you both....just so amazing, I love it! Bless you both for doing what you do! Much love from Canada xo
Sweet!
I love the retro vans. Yours turned out very nice.
Excelente vídeo, felicidades. Saludos desde Zinacantepec, México..
Love the wallpaper...actually love it all! Great job, happy travels.
Beautiful life you have built for your family ❤.
I love it! Great use of space!🙂
Really nice especially the tub for the kiddos to bathe in . It's nice when a guy is truly a handy man 👨 🙌
I love this van, exactly what I need. Enough space, not expensive.
We're legitimately considering one! So much cheaper than other van options.
What a wonderful life style, specially as a family!!!
I have an '02 Pleasureway Excel RD, and after 4 years FT, it hasn't given me any problems (well, the generator but I've learned to live without it).
What an awesome team these two are.
Great van!
Stunning. Bath and room for kids. Best of luck. Safe travels
Inspiring! Great buildout
Super inspiring! Thank you for posting this
Oh the front license plate surprised me! haha
A very inspiring story. Thanks for sharing what your motivations were for creating a few different options for traveling, and for shifting your lives such that you can home school your kids, work from home, and unplug from the institutional grind. That grind, more often than not, keeps most people tethered to home & work in often soul-crushing ways. I imagine the pandemic was another factor in encouraging that shift in priorities. I'm glad she was able to find an alternative to working in an ICU, and moving to something less stressful and 'crazy-making' than the last 22 months have been. Blessings to you all on your journey. 🙏🕊💞⭐
You sure did beef that up! Great work! Love the wallpaper. This is great no fuss but still great style, wood work beefed up Love it!
Absolutely love it
it's beautiful ❣️ bathroom at last is a very good Idea 👍beds layout idea ♥️grt job guyz 👍👍
They did an incredible job!!
Absolutely gorgeous
I am I C U Nurse also. Going to build a can to explore National Parks for the next few years. Fewer seeing your ideas. Just need to joy life as long as I can.
Cool story
Great story, travel well!
Thanks Kelly!
This is almost exactly what I want. I have 4 kids, so I need more seating. Which means I'll need to compromise with some of the other things, but this is an awesome van. Thanks for sharing.
A sportsmobile EB27 has 4 captains chairs and a Rv build with 2 beds. In total it has seatbelts for 10! It’s a rare setup
Nice clean renovation. We just finished ours, it has the exact same layout. 1986 Dodge B350, overall cost was $12k. We opted to paint the brown stripes over with a Blue/gray tree line and blacked out the chrome, brought the exterior out of the 80s a bit.
Sounds like an awesome build! And 12k is pretty impressive. Travis told me he wanted to leave his paint original because he was really in to the retro look, but I think I would have to side with you lol. Any plans to travel in it?
@@BasicallyNomads We've taken three 5 day trips. Family of 6, camper sleeps 4-5, 270 awning with zip down walls sleeps 1-2 more on cots. We need a bit more space, scheming on bus conversions :) .
I need this for me and my daughter I’m disabled from medical neglect.
Sweet....
Nice build guys!!!! What size is you bathtub? Thinking about one for my build.
Cool build. I'm building the Chevy version of your Van, mines a Coachman and low mileage from out west but the interior was awful and falling apart, it was all luan and stick on vinyl wall covering.
How many of those mattresses did you buy? Two or three? Or any suggestions? I have the same van and it needs a mattress. 😊 Love this video.
I am actually converting a van very similar to this one and LOVE how the couch folds into that bed which is what I need. If you could please send me in the direction of how and what you did to do that, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Hey, I made the tour for them, but I have no idea how the bed works. So sorry!
How do you maintain the van engine, my AC is the old frion. Anything advice
You did do a great job on your Van! How much you pay for it? Keep on Rolling!
Nice mod interior, BUT I always wonder the condition of the chassis, rust.. What actually matters most on a vehicle.
“I just wanted to jam out, man, ya know?” My future epitaph.
I just bought an Airstream B190 with a similar layout. We need to redo the bed. Can you tell me how you did it and the dimensions? Thanks!
Hey, This was just a tour I did for my friends. SO sorry, but I've only converted buses, which can be quite a bit different.
How do you get by parking on the grass I got a $80 ticket for that
I know this is an old post....but I am curious....what "mobile profession" does the husband have?
Love the family, love the build but why there is no toilet. It was almost perfect. Sorry it is just the way I feel. luv yah!
Mauve isn't even really pink; it's like if pink were actually a sort of...lilac...putty. It's the sight equivalent of "what if I mixed grape Kool-Aid powder in this Dijon mustard...?"
I'm just waiting to upgrade my van short on the money need help
You should've titled this video as an 80's camper van, since the van is a 1989, although this generation of the Ford Econoline did last until the 1991 model year.
I might change it! Thanks for the heads up.
@@BasicallyNomads You're welcome!
Chick in the thumbnail looks like beast with those huge arms 😮
Flushing toilet would have been more convenient
I ll never understand why people blur out their lic plates. When it out there for the public to see all over the place. Anyone can see it at anytime. They can even take pictures of it or video tape it. As it is all on public streets etc..
Whats their IG?
Hers is mrs.amber.allard
Get that white paint outta there! Too glaring. Wood is much warmer and softer on the eyes. You need sunglasses with that white interior.
🤣 real wood would have been nice, but anything is better than the old faux paneling, right?
@@BasicallyNomads i like it, i dont like the wooden cabin feel, clausterphobic. To each his own! God bless.
White is used a lot in tiny spaces because it makes it feel bigger.
Also reflects the most light, which is usually a good thing (better lit by windows, needs less lighting, etc) though I can see it causing strain if there's too much light.
