One of the most underrated songs by one of the most underrated bands. Loved it when it came out. Still do. It's sad that media never saw past aha's pop band image and recognized them for their great songwriting and plain musicianship.
for me the greatest band in history... but "not" plain for all to see (😜)
It also didn’t help that they had to promote themselves to look more pop band/boy band like. Especially Morten, they used him as an object a lot. I feel here they are all being themselves. Nobody is shirtless with just a vest or wearing a shirt open to their navel, no skin tight shirts, no GQ like kind of clothes. Nobody has perfect model - like haircuts. They all seem to be genuinely being themselves. I think they look their best here because of that.

Listening to A -ha´s music in 2023 makes me feel time has not passed on, they are one of the most iconic bands of the 80´s and 90´s. I´m 52 and their music makes me feel younger. Thanks for these wonderful songs.

One of their top performances. Very rock-ish sound, a lot of improvisation, Morten sang effortlessly and really demonstrated his voice abilities. He has an excellent, natural falsetto, that in his young age was full of clean silver almost like a choir boy's voice, (and only this falsetto is enough to be one of the best singers in modern music history), but there is so much more than that to show. And all of them were really just enjoying music and totally harmonizing here. Love it so much.

How's no one talking about the amazing harmony Magne and Pal have added to the choruses? We all know Morten is out of this planet, but their harmonies as a trio is and always was one of the main charms of this band.

This sound was ahead of its time,thats why it was not appreciated. Morten has a divine voice also ,his great looks got all the attention
Agreed. True shame that his looks got waaay more attention then the actual talent ALL three of these phenomenal men have. Didn’t help when they emphasized it with the bare chest and vest, tight pants, shirts open exposing his chest, him flipping and playing with his long hair, usually giving him most of the camera time and putting him front and center in most photos, and the Velvet video? (Really Morten, you want people to see you for more than just your looks? Hmmm….curious why it doesn’t happen. A real mystery 😂) Though honestly, in the beginning and much through their career, all three are good looking guys. They could have done with Magne and Pål what they did to Morten and had the same effect. It was a lot of brainwashing, I think. I mean, when I was younger and up to a few years ago, I would have said Morten was the hot and beautiful man. Then I watched “A-ha the Movie” and learned how they deliberately put Morten in the spotlight to sell the band. I had a big slap of reality realizing that the music industry, media, and fans brainwashed me into this. Truthfully, Morten isn’t even the type of guy I am attracted to. I usually like Teddy Bear kind of guys and more low maintenance. Like Sean Astin, Brendan Fraser, Alfonso Ribeiro, and Jay Leno. (After their put on some weight) Morten looks like this skinny, very perfect,European GQ model, high maintenance type.
Not that he’s not attractive. I mean, I know he is attractive like Brad Pitt is attractive, but not my kind of attractive, if that makes sense.
When someone is basically shoved in your face all the time, half naked a lot, I think it plays on your mind.
Now I really hate those videos of Morten looking like a Playgirl pinup model. I avoid them. That’s why I love this concert/show. Nobody’s dressed sexy, they have pretty equal camera time, and it’s focused on ALL three of them with their talents. They are really hot because of what is in their heads and hearts comes through their music. Not because of what they look like. This is a truly rare jewel here.❤

My fangirling journey started here.
This is my first a-ha song that i listened to, back in my late elementary-early junior high school era circa '86/'87.
Once i randomly bought a compilation album cos i was trying to learn english at that time since English is not even our second language. That album consisted of some songs from another artists. Then this song played and i was hooked cos this sound so good and sexy. Yeah i could say that is SEXY even though i still was a teenager. And then i happened to know that the name of the band is a-ha.
That time when there was no internet, no social media, i only could watch their video through a vhs tape.
Later i rent a vhs tape and i saw a video from a-ha titled The Sun Always Shines on TV. I was so mesmerized by that. And boom.. i fell in love with them. Next i searched another songs such as Take On Me, Hunting High and Low, You Are the One, Stay on These Roads, Touchy and Cry Wolf.
Once i learnt English at an English Course, there was a stationery store right in front of my English Course. If i see an a-ha poster i become excited and buy them right after the class finished. I even asked my English teacher to help me translate my letter to them ( which i guess it didn't reach them cos the letter was sent to the record company in the US while a-ha based in the UK 😂😂😂).
My english teacher's comment when she read my letter was "wow you are dangerous"🙈
I didn't know what concert is, and at that time there was only one local TV which run by the government so there's no such thing like foreign artists shows.
I only lived my life as a fangirl through vhs tapes, magazines and posters. Of course my bedroom wall was full of their posters. Luckily my parents didn't complain at all.
Due to limited resources, i didn't hear anything about them anymore and i became a fan of another groups.
Long story short, many years later, after i had a career, i could attend a concert of groups that i love. I had no idea that a-ha were still active as a group.
But currently, out of nowhere, i have a massive flash back to my early fangirling life (1987). Thanks God we have internet now, and thanks God there is youtube so i could search tons of a-ha clips here. I feel guilty cos i left them for too long. Almost 35 years. I was about to cry.
Now my only wish is to attend their concert, at least once before i die. And I'll try to make it possible.
To the fans who never leave a-ha, thank you for your non stop support to them, and you are lucky to be able to meet them. And thank you a-ha for your beautiful music. I will never leave you again.

I am absolutely in love with the style of music they use in this concert. I do wish they had more songs like this in later years as well. Nice to hear others agree. When I went to order the Albums from this concert on Amazon, I did read reviews. There are “fans” who really didn’t like this sound. They said it is not the “real” A-ha. They think of them as from Hunting High and Low, as if A-ha isn’t allowed to experiment or evolve. They put them in a box. I do love this band, but I feel they catered to the fans and the music industry too much in many ways. Not always being their true selves. This concert and the two albums from this to me feels like they were their most true selves here. Then it changed, it feels. Not that I don’t like other albums or other songs after this. Some amazing ones after this. Just doesn’t feel quite the same though. Especially Morten, he comes across totally doing into whatever sells after this.

I think this song resembles the music style they actually wanted to be remembered for, more than the pop/catchy hits they had. It has the same spirit as music they wrote over twenty years later, like ‘Foot of the Mountain’.
To me, it feels like some of Scoundrel Days - Analogue has stuff that is what they wanted to really be. Especially to me East of the Sun and Memorial Beach. I have learned through interviews that Morten originally sang in a Blues band and then joined Pål and Magne, who were playing more 60’s rock. These albums make complete sense to me then. They feel so genuine and to me it feels like their hearts and souls come out. ❤
