I've watched a few of these kinds of videos and it doesn't seem to matter if the places are Labour or Conservative run; they are beyond saving due to globalism and powers far above the people we vote for
But that doesn't stop drug abuse and all that dumping and litter. I blame the council and the people who don't like the police policing. What makes my blood boil is lies from authorities
I’ve lived in Torquay all my life, and I hate having to go into the town centre. It’s dirty, full of rubbish, tents in doorways. It looks like a 3rd world country. It breaks my heart. The Torquay I grew up in was clean and tidy, booming in the summer. It was a great place to be. Now it’s just a shit hole full of junkies and scumbags.
I remember visiting friends in Torquay in 1998, then going there on holiday with a friend in 2016 and it was not too bad. It looks like its gone to shit with the legal high boom, and onwards. It can be great again
There are a number of reasons why British holiday resorts are not popular anymore, 1. The rising costs, 2. Depressing, 3. Immigration, 4. Local businesses are becoming less British
Yup, culture is a big reason people go on holiday ,yet the only culture that is every on show if you are lucky are hundreds of years old. Rather a culture that represents the people we are told it is evil for you to have a culture of your own , you are to be multicultural . You can only have a mass produced dull corporate style that makes everyone depressed
That poor lovely British man living on the Streets who has worked and paid tax needs a hotel to stay in. Invaders who are rude and arrogant get nice hotel accommodation. It is unbelievable and honestly sickening
Stop this narrative,At his age he shouldnt be homeless...The question is why is he homeless ? my father and mother aint Homeless and live a good life,Because they made good decisions in life and secured their future, the goverment is the only people to blame because they are the ones paying hotels to house immigrants, maybe if the UK and their partners in crime didnt mess around abroad the immigrants wouldnt need to come to the UK
The proposed increase in defence spending of 0.5% would completely solve the homeless situation, consequently it is a political decision. Listen when the comment is made about the lack of social housing., I guess people voted for this?
britain Peaked.. its all downhill from here. Conservatives done most of the damage with their exploiting policies of 3rd wold conservative countries.. They are becoming one too. Its why people are suppose to vote "liberal" not the left or the right. Proper liberal party, which are very strict and support their own and proper social policies, so this mess doesnt occur. Its cause of "greedy" conservatives, it became what it is.
We are watching the planned decline of the west which is able to take place while people bicker about labour or tories not actually realising whats really going on!
Ask ‘ princess ‘ Anne.. she’s their patron! Nothing for UK children and she’s silent on the subject. Maybe because she and her rich family are Z👁️N1$Ts too?
No. May be our government can get to grips with this problem. Why should we resort to charity to sort things out. The government works on all our behalf’s - this is a problem that should all take responsibility for, and it shouldn’t be the job of a charity based on random donations to resolve the issue. Of course your comment gets a load of thumbs up because it’s easier to do that than actually think about what it is you’re actually saying.
@@WilliamCelandine'Charity is a cold, grey, loveless thing. If a rich man truly wishes to help the poor he should pay his taxes gladly, not dole out money on a whim.' - Clement Attlee.
Canadians are going through exactly the same thing. The WEF and the UN can be traced back to their policies affecting Canadians adversely. Trudeau is fully engaged with WEF and is committed to disastrous outcomes for Canada. God help the West.
Same situation is developing in Australia, also due to government inaction and indifference, as well as too many immigrants coming. Foreign ownership of houses as investments (bought using money they needs to launder) is the same, with many of the houses sitting empty.
The good ol’ colonial days of ruling foreign countries and looting them are long gone. Now you going have to work for your money like the immigrants but you folks too lazy and spoiled. It’s simply Karma…
Canadians aren't beating their chests anymore as was the case 10 years back, proclaiming how superior they are to the US and claims of best quality of life in the world. Far from it. You voted in this creep Trudeau, now look at you.
One of my sons lived in Paignton sharing a flat, he had a drink and drug problem, and had friends the same as him. We managed to move him out of the area and now he's off drink and drugs and working for my older son who runs a gym in Surrey, and hopefully he starts living a purposeful and happy life.
Good luck to the lad. Working in a health environment is ideal. Monkey see, monkey do. I hope he works out for free at the end of every session, he'll be nails in no time 💪🏻
Did you cry about Saddams nuclear weapons and Assad and Gaddafi? Then did you cry about the increase in middle East immigrants that happened after the wars? Have you put two and two together yet or do you still support American and Nato wars? Or do you blame the victims of our imperialist aggression for coming here?
@@robertely686 I didn't, for an Arab country, people had a decent quality of life. Saddam was on the CIA pay role, and when he turned against his "Handlers" they turned the country against him.
The homeless in Torquay are white Caucasians the rent is ridiculously overpriced & there is a lack of social housing as the conservatives were more interested in getting people to buy houses, we need more cheap rentals
Night clubs and yobbo magnets are part of the reason people don’t go to seaside resorts Who’d want to take their kids to somewhere where they can’t go out after 6 pm because of drunk hoards
I live in Exeter and have followed the plight of the homeless (of which I am ) and lack of homes. I had it all to play for on the 20th March 2020. I rented a nice house, had a new business just about to sign up its first dealership after 3 years developing the product. Then the lockdown happened and the covid police turned up to shut down my business. I lost everything, home, business, savings, future and at 66 I live in a van. No homes for retired single men. Yet the government then bring out legislation to make it illegal to live in your motorhome or van on a public highway, even though your vehicle is taxed, mot'd and insured. A local organic veg farm applied to build worker pods on their farm because their workers could not afford to rent anything in Exeter. Planners turned them down but from their farm you can see a massive new expensive housing developement. This government and subsequent governments are only interested in what they can get out of the system.
I used to go there quite often when I was in the Navy. It's sad to see what's happened to Britain. You can guarantee most of the housing that could be given to the British homeless is being used to house illegals.
As a local myself, lived in Paignton for nigh on 50 years, i myself was shocked and saddened by your video. I really appreciate you documenting the current state of the nation. All the best from Paignton.
Bear in mind he specifically targets the absolute worse everywhere he goes and gives that 99% of his coverage. It's good that channels like his are reporting issues that are ignored by mainstream media, but it's not a balanced representation of an entire town or area. It's just a part of a bigger picture.
Having lived there 30 years he is showing it unfairly ,it’s filmed early evening or morning when it’s deserted ,that car park is closed to the public and under development it’s actually a wonderful place . I’ve been gone for two years but keep up with pics etc from friends I’d go back tomorrow & hope to return , it’s the best place to live in Britain
British families no longer go on holiday to the "Seaside" in the UK. UK politicians and civil service elite no longer care about tourism... inward or internal. Manufacturing industries decimated , only minimum wage jobs if any, no investment in housing 😢, no security of tenure 😢, no representation 😢, I think I'm a centrist or ctr right but it's hard to be sure anymore because there is an uncaring class and a coping class and that seems to be it 😢😢 Well done JF for highlighting these issues.... it's never as simple as deadbeats doing nothing.....the uncaring class keeps others down too..😢 Ireland is just a few years behind the UK in this decline.
When the 3rd world was being rinsed out we did not give a g@#k.Its happing to 'US' now and we are all in our little boxes fighting.Black vs White,Muslim vs Christian, right vs left take your pick.
Someone has to start talking about corruption in England’s councils. How they hike up the rates to close businesses and sell off council property to private companies. Who gave them the permission to do this? Why is it that governments refuse to build houses themselves and instead farm out the work to private businesses who just want to build luxury houses? When did the poor people of this nation give up their rights? How were their rights taken away from them? Why is nobody talking about this?
Yes the state policies has allot to do with this, While london is filled with some of the most rich people on the planet earth so that there is barely a foot of room left and so the city is like babylone while the rest of the country is left to rot. First they did not clean the beach for nearly 70 years that could have been done so well then even now there is no business planning. The first thing is to plane how to advertise that in your town you can go to sea in those boats very cheap then make accomodation cheap, then may be open up discose as well where they can employs lots of pretty ladies to entertian people as chat nothing else and on and they are suppose to add to that but most people will come from london then when they see how nice it was to go out to the sea in a nice boats toures and then how nice it was to stay in some really good cheap hotel and then how nice it was to chat to those ladies in discos and other places , thus many of the rich men will eventually buy properties others will plane their own businesses here because it is open to all but nothing has been done about it because the people incharge do not know how ha ha ha....
@@abuhamza1970 This is correct but the vast majority of the masses here are thick as fux and blame immigration because they've been told to by media and politicians.
I was there with my wife three weeks ago. Almost exactly to the date one year before that it was not great; but this time it has declined in so many ways. There were more homeless, more boarded up, or for rent, shops, with scruffy looking buildings, the whole atmosphere was garbage so we left after just one night, even though we'd planned for a Thursday to Saturday. My family used to go there in the late 70's and it really was a beautiful place, great atmosphere, lots of independent shops, all the pretty lights and that lit up gardens along the front during darkness was really nice. When we had stayed just one night, on the recent visit, I looked at my wife and asked her shall we leave early, she said yes please, and we have decided that we're never going back. We live not far from Bournemouth, and although that too has its problems in the town centre, it's nowhere nearly as bad as Torbay.
See the tool maker guy, Sunak paid out that furlow to scammers lost millions for the country and that man lost everything, Frankly, he deserves compensation
Yes it is absolute robbery that the toolmaker paid into a system and got nothing in return. Never trust the government with your money. They WILL NOT return it to you. I'm so sorry for this guy. I wish I could help him.

1: It's cheaper to go aboard where your almost guaranteed warmer sunnier weather 2: local councils allowing the building of so called out of town retail parks have killed of our once vibrant high streets. 3: Very few towns can rely on a very short summer season to survive all year round. 4: Lack of government funding for the increase in manufacturing. 5: Severe lack of moral guidance and values from some parents are creating a morally defunct population whi h is only going to get worse for future generations.
It's all seaside towns in the UK. Nothing to do with neoliberialism. It's governments choosing to open boarders and spending money on the third world, and wars abroad, but spending nothing on investing in the UK economy.
Great content as usual Joe, the graphics you included this time were a good addition. Just a suggestion mate, as you move forward, see if you can include some interviews with people involved in running the system. I know you talk to locals and shop keepers etc but how about some local councillors, some local MPs, charity workers, social workers, teachers, even the police if possible. Keep it up mate, its valuable stuff. Your compassion does you credit.
The homeless guy with the dog? Shocking whats happened to UK. I live in Glasgow, and I'll not go into my story, but I've got a large one, put it that way. I worked in The Imperial Hotel in Torquay in 1990. Place certainly wasn't like this, and not a migrant in sight. Whole country has fell to fxck.

Thanks joe for a good look at the decline of torbay. I have lived here for 27 years and up until the last decade, i loved it here and i was very happy that i moved here with the good times enjoyed. I don't go near the towns anymore, Paignton and Torquay for the reasons that you've highlighted. The whole country is going the same way and it hasn't just happened as one of those things. All by design, which you may be aware of, if you look further afield than the tv and media. As for the July weather, there is an explanation and the best place for the answers is a RUclips channel called "Suspicious Observers " which shows in depth what they are not telling us. It's an eye opener for sure and I've been watching for the last 4 years. Good video Joe and thanks again.
This probably started when the wealthy began buying second homes in these lovely places, leading to increased house prices and less property for sale so locals can't afford to buy, which in turn leads to a shortage of affordable property to rent. The locals then leave, businesses fail due to lack of year-round customers, and then there are no jobs.
Torbay has not really suffered from this. House prices have risen far slower than the surrounding area and the south west generally. There are empty, derelict houses still. It’s quite unusual for the south of England.
8 million a day on immigration costs housing and all the health care they receive. When our own people British families are suffering so badly. It's a joke
Oh come on, stop spouting off Daily Mail reactionary headlines and educate yourself properly to understand it's nothing to do with immigrants. Only xenophobes have that sort of ignorant knee jerk reaction.
we can find billions for never ending war and even more for invaders but nothing for our own people, the issue is i always had my holiday in paignton as a kid and then switched to cornwall but the average weekly price to holiday in the south west in summer has gone up to between £1200-£2000 for a small lodge where as i could holiday in spain for 2 weeks fully catered for that price and be guaranteed good weather as right now this year has been a washout for the UK
They're not doing it because they're idiots, it's intentional and evilminded. They want to impoverish you in every way possible. They rigged the election too.
Same as in Ireland my brother is a Brit living in southern Ireland, he's a musician and made a tidy sum playing gigs for weddings and birthdays in hotels, now the hotels are full of immigrants no more gigs, unfortunately it's not just affecting him, the local businesses that rely on tourists are going bankrupt as there are no hotels for the tourists, what a crazy situation!
I think another issue is that it’s so expensive to holiday in the uk. You won’t get any change from a thousand pound for a week away here, with shit weather. For £300 you can go all inclusive to Greece.
I looked at Torquay for a move....luckily I took a deep dive into complaints and comments to the council and that was 4 years ago....scary...petty vandalism the WHOLE West Country has been abandoned by government etc
You would not regret moving to Torquay I’ve lived there for more than 30 odd years a lot of this video is bullshit , I moved a couple of years ago and am desperate to get back , I’m currently in Peterborough biggest mistake I ever made leaving Torquay , good music scene too
I moved down here 7 years ago and love it.There are some beautiful areas round here but people prefer to focus on the bad points as negativity/bad news seems to be the thing the media focus on
The guy in particular who was made homeless after lockdown. He’s a very decent guy by the looks of it. It’s so easy to become homeless in this country. Also this elderly guy among others. If I lived there with a room I’d certainly help them get off the ground. This country is appalling!
Bless the tool maker fellow…. It’s becoming more and more apparent that honest hard working men get the bum deal… i pray you get some help soon brother! #fellowtradesman
First time viewer here. Thank you Joe for such an interesting video. Sticking to the points with no hidden agenda and a lovely voice with attitude to match! I wish you well on your you tube journey sir! Subscribed. On a personal note I have visited Paignton lits of times over the years, firstly starting way back in the 80s. It really saddens me how much this whole area has slowly declined. Each time I returned it seemed to get worse. My last visit where I stayed was with my wife around 7-8 years ago. We could both see how much it had gone downhill then. I really hope these lovely places are saved before it's too late.
Those 2 fellas, one with the dog and the old fella in the beanie. They don’t seem like drug users but people who’s lives have fell apart, heartbreaking
Stuck in a spot were there are NO options, NO prospects. You CANNOT be born in torbay in live in torbay.. you HAVE to leave and move away from your home to even stand a chance nowadays.. it's rotten what the council has done to denigrate the area..
Im not trying to disrespect anyone but uk looks worse then poor Eastern European country's, poland compared to uk looks like Monaco or Switzerland, uk start looking like 3rd world country, uk open your eyes you're government is not on you're side, they spending money on migrants, but they importing more legal migrants from Africa and India, instead to invest in youngsters and infrastructure, im polish working in uk as a welder for 20 years, bilding college's, hospitals and more nowadays on my street is so much muslims and Africans i struggling to speak to anyone because they mostly don't, you cam feel tention on the streets, im thinking of leaving when i going to poland for holidays im jaw dropped how good the towns and cities are, it changed so much in uk.
i still fail to understand why in all these towns, the councils continually and abjectly fail to deal with the rubbish problem, surely this must be the number one priority on any to-do list for those in charge of running a place. How can anyone given the responsibility of running a town walk around seeing all that trash and garbage filthying up the place, then walk into their offices with their heads held up? When the council tax and parking charge payments come in HIRE A BIN WAGON ffs.
I live in Torbay, and I can't say I've studied our council much, but I do know that the only remaining rubbish site is a distant drive away and some items are chargeable (and it's operated very securely). So, presumably local people/ify traders use these patches for dumping: If the council regularly picked-up the junk - it would get continually filled up again! The council finds it expedient/easier/cheaper to just leave it for the rats (and I've seen them)! Beside all the stuff, we imagine a council does (and doesn't do): I do know this area has a very, very significant retired/elderly care/infirmed aspect, and through my own limited experience - it's stonkingly (££££££) expensive for the individual/the council/NHS. You can go through a 1/3 of a Million in a few months, multiply that by perhaps, many thousands? I should imagine most of these seaside councils are nigh-on bankrupt!
It's a third party problem. As in the council don't directly employ anyone any longer. They're all subcontractors from one company or another, specifically set up to squeeze profit from former council responsibilities. As such the council doesn't have any flexibility in how they approach it. If they go to the subcontractor they'll point at the contract and say not our job, but they don't have any staff, or any money to hire more subcontractors. It amazes me how little foresight there is, in both local council and central government. If you replace a direct employee with a subcontracted one, how did they ever think it would be cheaper, when you're also paying a hefty profit margin for the subcontractor. It's idiocy. But it's strategically advantageous for them as they can deny they're the root of the problem. It's not the council, it's the subcontractor, and they don't have any control over x, y and z. Somehow someone was brainwashed into believing infinite economic growth was possible. Sadly, it isn't. The more links in the chain, the more profit there is for the multinational conglomerates who step in and take the contracts. Then no tax, or minimal tax is paid, and any income goes out of the country. None of their money remains in our economy and they pay a damn sight less tax than businesses used to. We're haemorrhaging every penny the population used to own, and the vast majority goes to investors. An idiotic way to conduct council business.
Excellent reporting. Well done. Shocking what has happened to our seaside towns. Yes it is very expensive to Rent a flat or house for a holiday anywhere in the UK.
My partner is from Devon, we visit often to see the family. We stay in different places for a holiday as well. A couple of years ago we could sea that Paignton was ok in a small area but as you moved away from the sea front area it went downhill so quickly it surprised us. Clearly, it has gone down since then even further. So sad, it's a great area with lovely people. We wonder how society has allowed this take the toolmaker bloke for an excellent example
@@chazsach6594 thank you for reminding me. I like Paignton so don't wish to write anything worse. To be clear, it is not very different to many other towns and cities around the country.Perhaps, it's because it was such a nice place, it makes it come across worse. Some people cite immigration and homeless numbers having a correlation but given the empty houses by the street full in some northern towns and other derelict city centre property across the country, there could be a roof over everyone's head. Most crime is driven by drugs People in the grip of addiction have different priorities. Recovering addicts on the other hand often come across as so positive, caring and full of energy and purpose.
There are numerous channels now reporting on the shocking state of towns and cities across the UK and yet I have yet to hear any credible explanation from any elected MP or local authority big-wig as to why this has been allowed to happen. We've had plenty of boom and bust cycles over the decades (all by design I would suggest) but the current demise is off the scale and I do not believe this is solely a consequence of online shopping and high business rates. I do not see how this situation can ever be reversed.
Top job with your videos. I love you engage with all the humans you meet. Sadly I'm certain these issues will become even more widespread in the years to come!
It looks like the local council is not putting any money back into the area & amenities! Shocking it used to be so beautiful area. It is disgraceful that the council are letting the local people down like this! Smh😒
Torbay has been classed as a deprived area for more than 5yrs, alot of the homeless have come from Exeter and Plymouth. They have come from up North and filtered down in to Torbay, also what you see on the Street are not all homeless. They are sat there begging for money to get there fix at one of the crack houses in the bay, Some of them don't want help. The council also except alot straight out of jail. Including sex offenders. What also don't help is the council shut places down like oldway. Kids have no respect anymore these days. Some are tooled up also, the skate ramp was removed due to the fact it was no longer safe. Not sure if it will be rebuilt
I think its a problem country wide not just torbay. I live near broadsands, brixham direction of Paignton. Its lovely here and I regularly go to broadsands beach which is clean and tidy, I also love youngs park, this is also a lovely place to have a picnic or get a meal and new things are being added. A lot of the roads on here arnt even seen by the general public as they are backstreets and every town has them. I owned a hotel just off paignton beach between 1988 and 1992 it was packed then but went quiet during the recession in early 90s, there are loads of visitor again now and there has just been an airshow off paignton beach which attracted thousands, also has annual carnival, fireworks twice a year, fun fair and children's week in August with lots of fun things to do. . So don't judge the area by what you watch on here, you can find bad areas everywhere if you go hunting for them
I used to go there on holiday with my parents when I was a kid. That was in the sixties. Dad bought us ice creams and I got stung by a wasp. It was a lovely place then. Shame.
Everyone commenting about the issues discussed in your video - but I'm just mighty impressed with how well created this piece is, considering its made by just one man, a phone, and a computer!
This is shocking & lockdown has alot to answer for! That poor man who lost everything because of it & wasn't entitled to furlough as self employed. This is so true because my cousin who had his own business was in the same situation. He & his partner had three months money to live on but if the second lockdown had carried on any longer they would have been in trouble. It's criminal. Where is all the council tax going that people are paying into the system? What is the local council doing with the money for the streets to be filthy & graffiti everywhere & with no youth centre for the youngsters?!! Questions need answering & an investigation is needed!!! 🤨
Greetings from SoCal ... your country has the same problems that we do. Neoliberalism, toleration of substance abuse, crime, pandering to illegals at the expense of our citizens, etc. As to the demise of tourism, I suspect people do not want to visit dirty towns strewn with trash, homeless, and so forth. Former gems here in California include Santa Monica, but I would not set foot there now. Thank you for your channel, Joe, you're the best!
mirror image of Venice Beach here in So Cal....the City Manager and Mayor were finally removed/replaced, laws enforced, things got much better. Venice is a big vacation destination, so the reasons given for Torquay's demise (lack of tourism/jobs) is not true for Venice, but the problems are exactly the same. So what gives? A lack of law enforcement, coupled with weak/woke Council, and lifestyle choices...throw in a bit of nihilism and easy availability of drugs to liven things up for a few minutes....great video....depressing...but great.

Love your channel Joe fish! I’ve always wanted to visit southern England and the Torbay area in particular being from New York myself we think of those places as much better off than they really are I think. It’s sad really, we have many of the same social problems with drugs and hooliganism but what does really strike me is the rubbish piles you tend to see in a lot of your videos in these tired areas. I mean people in the UK pay a ton in taxes I’m told and it really doesn’t take much to keep a street clean if you have regular garbage pick up coming around I just don’t get how the town committtees would let that happen so much. Sure you have to pick it up often but just do it lol it’s a beautiful area otherwise. Love your vids man
No, the people just throw stuff on the ground and expect someone else to pick it up. I told one lad off for doing it and he answered by saying it gives someone a job to pick it up. People are demoralised and depressed.
@@johnlesoudeur3653 believe me when I tell you America has the same exact issue with its youth. They have no respect for authority or themselves. For example, when I was young we were made to bag groceries if we worked as clerks in the check out aisles and it was one of the main aspects of our job which it should be. We were paid next to nothing compared to the youngsters doing the same job today and at many stores you will see them choose not to bag your groceries if they don’t feel like it and you are left to hurriedly do it yourself after just spending $200 on groceries you barely have because they are too lazy and entitled. It’s a joke. I’m disgusted with the world today on so many levels.
I went last month for a week's break. I had a great time and hopefully will return soon. Yes I noticed the homeless in doorways and empty shop units. But that's the same in every town and city. On the whole its a great place to visit.
I don't think it's as bad as he is saying....never had any probs with this here. And I have lived here for 23yrs. And where is this guy from. How dare he ! This will ruin out Tourist industry !!!
It’s several factors that have caused this, 1st Foreign Holidays 2nd cost of living 3rd Internet so high street shops are closing 4th cheap booze in supermarkets so pubs struggle and close and night life in general clubs shutting because of bad vibes, violence. It’s the perfect storm.
I have to say its the high streets own fault. Its a bit like when youd have to pay £15 for a music CD, then PC's came out with disc burners installed and you could burn your own music off, but we the public had been getting ripped off for decades so you cant blame people getting their own back on certain industries! Back to the high street, and I know they have overheads etc...but a bottle of decent perfume in boots is about £80 when you can get the EXACT same size/perfume bottle for like £25 off Amazon...how can the high street justify such a mark up? And when we didnt have a choice they charged even more!! Im sorry but like music CD's the people have been getting ripped off for decades, now we have a choice tough 💩 😜😜😜

This funding builds on over £75 million of investment in the area including £20m from the Levelling Up Fund Round 3 to boost jobs in the fishing and electronics sector including by investing into Brixham Fish market, £20m through the Long-Term Plan for Towns and a £20m Town Deal to transform Torquay, and almost £300,000 from the Community Ownership Fund to regenerate the historic Paignton picture house. Other funding includes over £13m through the Future High Streets Fund to support the transformation of Paignton town centre and around £2m from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
UK is now in incredible decline. In 1970's all tourist areas were thriving, High streets were busy and trading. Now those tourist areas are run down and people do not go as they did, whilst many High streets are boarded up, shuttered and many will never open again unless something drastic changes. Since big manufacturing industries were allowed to decline and the huge increase in local government and the extra layer of political class by Devolution, less of the working population actually earn money for the country, whilst more are in jobs paid by government, which is simply recycling taxes. When 70% of the working population are paid by some level of government, that is the communist system described in Animal farm. This is why UK is in serious decline for the past 50 years. We need manufacturing in UK to come back, Steel, Chemicals, Ship Building , and better Project Management (not by politicians). The political class are mostly incompetent.
Your videos are getting better and better. It makes me sad listening to the stories of people you interviewed, especially the guy with the dog... As for the weather, it's going crazy everywhere. Temperatures in Serbia reached 50 C today. We want some English weather over here.
Whilst there’s been a noticeable decline in Torbay, the problems you feature here are country wide and worse in many other areas. Housing in Torbay is a huge issue, so thank you for highlighting the disparity in social housing provision between Torbay and other localities. The TQ1 postcode was in the top four most ‘deprived areas’ in the country more than a decade ago, so no change there. The knock on effect of the pandemic on the hospitality industry on which Torbay relies is still being felt. All councils make mistakes and Torbay is no exception, but there’s only so much you can do with limited funding. The problems seem to lie at Government level and general lack of investment in the whole country. For balance, why not come back when the weather improves and make another video covering all the positive aspects of life in Torbay?
First visited Torbay around mid nineties absolutely fell in love with the place Torquay seemed such a cool area especially by the harbour and all the palm trees coming from London it seemed a breath of fresh air. Bought a caravan in Brixham and had many many lovely holidays down there. Sold that caravan and bought another one in 2016 in Paignton still seemed a decent area, although parts of Paignton did seem like Torquays poorer cousin especially by the harbour. This is really sad to see hopefully the area receives the investment it deserves
Yes, back in the late 80’s and early 90’s it wasn’t such a bad place, I’m fairly local and even I don’t bother visiting. Wednesday nights during the summer is Paignton bike night and probably about the only reason I might have considered venturing to the area but to be honest I really can’t be r’sed to navigate the hive of one way streets, speed cameras, no parking/resident only parking zones and general traffic mayhem, and that’s not to mention the extortionate asking prices for a bag of chips or a cuppa/coffee and an ice cream. The police cruise the sea front with no more intention than to look for the next poor fool they can mug for some pathetic excuse or other, yer pipe’s too loud, yer doing 0.5mph over the 20 limit, you turned left/right without indicating etc etc etc. The whole town has only got itself to blame really.

It’s quite unusual for the south of England.

i still fail to understand why in all these towns, the councils continually and abjectly fail to deal with the rubbish problem, surely this must be the number one priority on any to-do list for those in charge of running a place.

Keep up the good work Sir! Excellent video.
It looks like the local council is not putting any money back into the area & amenities!
Shocking it used to be so beautiful area. It is disgraceful that the council are letting the local people down like this! Smh😒
Councils seem to be black holes for absorbing tax money with little to show for it
They are ALL old heads who do NOT care for the youth and future of torbay. Hence why they shut down and drove off all facilities for the youth..
The old woman had enough money for cigarettes though at at least £10 per pack?😢
People give them cigarettes. I worked with disadvantaged and homeless people and they do get given full packets of cigarettes or tobacco.
I owned a hotel just off paignton beach between 1988 and 1992 it was packed then but went quiet during the recession in early 90s, there are loads of visitor again now and there has just been an airshow off paignton beach which attracted thousands, also has annual carnival, fireworks twice a year, fun fair and children's week in August with lots of fun things to do. . So don't judge the area by what you watch on here, you can find bad areas everywhere if you go hunting for them
Well things are only going to get worse under Starmer and the last Tory MP did nothing except paint a part of the road blue in Paignton🤦♀️
I used to go there on holiday with my parents when I was a kid. That was in the sixties. Dad bought us ice creams and I got stung by a wasp. It was a lovely place then. Shame.
This comment really resonated with me
Yes so did I; we used to have lovely holidays when we were children during the 1960's both in Devon and Cornwall.
I haven't been able to afford a sea-side holiday in a decade.
Just save 10 pounds a week that will get u a week in a SUNNY, WARM climate - - I don't see reason to spend summer holiday in this depressing country
Everyone commenting about the issues discussed in your video - but I'm just mighty impressed with how well created this piece is, considering its made by just one man, a phone, and a computer!
Yes it's a lot to do with local govt, but it's also about useless people gathering in tourist areas and destroying them.
What are we doing abandoning our own people… Wake up, Europe!!!
Just got back from paignton 4 night break, was there 4 hrs and assaulted by feral youths on bikes, balaclavas up near rhe railway crossing, took a knucleduster to my cheek/nose,8.30pm,people just watching it happen as if its an everyday occurence, police have it clear on cctv
Dont think it will amount to much
Wont be going back and will advise as many as i can to steer clear
Poor Paignton. I cried on a donkey ride in 1964 there. Thanks for video 👍
I cried watching this video
Did the donkey tread on you?
Why don't they make you Minister of Social Affairs? Your heart is in the right place.
He doesn't have a foreign Asian name
That automatically disqualifies him from Westminster life....he has a heart.
And you just get on a boat and your in a Hotel or a luxury apartment that the owner has rented out to the Govenment. It is beyond Disgusting we don't look after our own
I was at teenager at school in the early 80s, and i remember our business studies teaching us that all the shops will be closing down because of Internet shopping.
This is heartbreaking. I lived in Torquay for 10 years from the mid-nineties and it was a fantastic place to be. Such a shame.
We have stood by and watched it happen.
The politicians have let them in but we have let them settle.
I don't think it's as bad as he is saying....never had any probs with this here. And I have lived here for 23yrs. And where is this guy from. How dare he ! This will ruin out Tourist industry !!!
Exactly! This guy just tryna divide Britain further than it already is.
Kids today have no respect because our country has no rules, blame all the do gooders
What, surely it's do-badders that are the problem
It would be significantly cheaper for me to fly to Spain from Nottingham than getting the train down to Torquay. That’s a big problem.
i went there on my sixteenth and eighteenth birthday, 91 and 93, it seemed really classy to me back then. looks a bit sad now.
Im sorry but like music CD's the people have been getting ripped off for decades, now we have a choice tough 💩

I hear this all over, it's a real shame Torbay is turned out like this! I remember when my kids were small we had some good holidays there, drugs lack of investment and nowhere to rent a dangerous mix to come back from. So much money wasted on supid things and the people suffer
The woman u got a cuppa & doughnut for, was also lovely & friendly when I met them. Thx for highlighting the issues of Castle Circus & Torbay. The problems have really grown in the past 4 years due to stressors caused by the feardemic & 3 lockdowns & energy ripoff.
I’d spent many holidays down there around Torquay,
It’s really sad to see the decline.
Thanks for the insight
I was here 4 days ago! I still loved it! I walked from Torquay to Brixham an AMAZING walk! People in tents everywhere, but what better place to be than on the coast :) I did stick to the seafront though and beaches.

We needed Reform.
When I worked at torbay in the 60s it was so beautiful I was so proud to work there this is beyond belief ❤
Nice you’re getting some stats together 👍🏼 Heartbreaking situations across the UK 😕
Torbay has redeployment funds and plans are being drawn up as we speak for torquay the harbour is already in development. It just takes time.
Great documentry mate, better than the crap on main stream gov tv ! I like the way you show kindness to people in need great example !
Totally agree..
That was so nice how you addressed her and bought her the coffee. So thoughtful. They're so pleased with so little, God bless them.
Local here , yes the decline is troubling 😢
Your videos are getting better and better. It makes me sad listening to the stories of people you interviewed, especially the guy with the dog... As for the weather, it's going crazy everywhere. Temperatures in Serbia reached 50 C today. We want some English weather over here.
Dobar dan.
Get your Government to spray chemicals and cloud seed like our corrupt UK government are doing.
Wow, that’s unbelievable how rapidly Torquay has gone down the toilet. It was a semi decent place only around 15 years ago
government are TO BLAME
