The higher Thinkbook 14 Gen 2 AMD models offer 300 NIT touchscreen. I'd be curious on your thoughts on those features compare here? I may get the higher end 16GB RAM model with the 4700U CPU. April deals on that.

ARE version does not have an extra 2.5 HDD bay. It has an extra NVMe socket.. 8 Gb of extra memory transforms this laptop as you described. Battery life not up to 7 hours, 6 hours max under real conditions A 45 watt phone power adapter can charge the battery and is more portable than the included brick. Nice review.

Does the gen 2 model support wake on AC in the BIOS? The gen 1 model did not, and it was a big pain point when using it in a docked configuration as there was no good way to boot the machine without opening it.

I just bought one with the same exact configuration and will do the ram upgrade - I'm curious which ram module did you use ? , the soldered one is made by Samsung ( model M471A1G44AB0-CWE to be exact) ,besides the speed should ram latency be matched to get stable dual channel performance ?

This is now being adopted by lot of small technology and tech solution companies. In my area, the Fiber Optics internet providers are using Thinkbook 14 series. It may not be the lightest 14 incher but a lot of people would prefer the plethora of ports over super light devices with limited ports, in expense of very modest weight increase. Two full speced Gen 2 Type C ports, multiple type A ports and even Gigabit RJ45 lan port 2ith just over 3 lbs, full metal construction...hard to find at this price.
