This is one of the best reviews that I have seen for any piece of hardware! It is awesome that you are detailed and honest!
You did a great job!
Patiently waiting for the release of ThinkBook 16p with Ryzen 5000H + RTX 3000.
Woah nice thanks man! Been looking for gaming tests on this laptop
This is the most helpful and detailed tech video i've ever seen, cheers!
Thank you for your review. Very helpful.
Most detailed review ever thanks
It was a good and helpful review. Thanks.
Thank you, excellent review! You covered all of my questions & more. I was just about to ask about Linux ...& then you answered that too. You make me very confident to buy & understand what I am getting. Especially about the SATA bay which is not mentioned on the Lenovo spec online. 👏
Did you end up buying this laptop? If so, did you end up running Linux on it?
Great review and speed in your presentation :-). Will you review the new Lenovo X1 Carbon 9th gen with 16:10 screen? Thanks
Nice review! I like the idea of an open sata drive bay thx for pointing that out. 250gb is NOT enough for me but I could just plop in the 512gb I had in my old laptop for added storage
I have one in 15 inch size, with Ryzen 5 4500u, 500gb ssd and 8gb of RAM. I ordered a 8gb 3200mhz stick but it takes a while to arrive. I really like it.
Very helpful, nice video!
this is almost the spiritual successor of the old Thinkpad 13 (2016 version) , the budget thinkpad that surprised everyone.
I was shocked when checking the price, efficient performance with a very gud price
Great video .. amazed 😁
Great review!
Wow you've been so helpful in my laptop research, thank you!
Hey Lon! You should review some cheap android phones and the Echo Auto
Perfect! I had it yesterday :-)
The higher Thinkbook 14 Gen 2 AMD models offer 300 NIT touchscreen. I'd be curious on your thoughts on those features compare here? I may get the higher end 16GB RAM model with the 4700U CPU. April deals on that.
ARE version does not have an extra 2.5 HDD bay. It has an extra NVMe socket.. 8 Gb of extra memory transforms this laptop as you described. Battery life not up to 7 hours, 6 hours max under real conditions A 45 watt phone power adapter can charge the battery and is more portable than the included brick. Nice review.
Does the gen 2 model support wake on AC in the BIOS? The gen 1 model did not, and it was a big pain point when using it in a docked configuration as there was no good way to boot the machine without opening it.
Nice one
Does anyone know the display color gamut coverage ? Also, does the touchscreen model support pen input ? (that might be gen3)
How about the Thinkbook 13s Gen2 AMD?
Nice review, thank you. It's a nice machine. I have some questions please. 1) There is an ethernet jack but this cable does not fit in there, it's ... big. 2) Can I add a sim card in this pc (like sim in phone)?
How does the keyboard quality/feel/travel compare to the thinkpad line?
If you add a cheaper 4GB stick, will it still run in dual channel? Or do you need to match the 8GB soldered with an 8GB stick?
Great review thank you so much . I just bought one with the same exact configuration and will do the ram upgrade - I'm curious which ram module did you use ? , the soldered one is made by Samsung ( model M471A1G44AB0-CWE to be exact) ,besides the speed should ram latency be matched to get stable dual channel performance ?
3200
Since it's not thunderbolt, can we do display output and power input at the same time with just one usb type c port? Thanks
Are there models with different display panels?
I love my Thinkbook. I have the I7 version. It is rather powerful to be honest. I edit 3k video using Vegas and it works perfectly. And renders video pretty fast too.
Are the fans noisy ?
not at all
this model with ryzen 5 4500u in my country was unavailable, only ryzen 3 4300u 8gb ram 512gb ssd fhd ips 250 nits 45% ntsc
Is it worth upgrading for laptop which use ryzen 5 5500u? Or just stick to this one in term of video editing and lite gaming
Hello, I'm still pretty much unsure whether to buy Lenovo Thinkbook 14 G2 or Lenovo Thinkbook 14s Yoga. The price difference between both these Laptops is about 300€ (Germany). Is it worth the money? Has someone here in the comment section tested both the devices?
Not sure whether this laptop supports display output at 4k 60hz or not.
Yes I found the 16GB configuration at Lenovo. Doesn't mention Ryzen though. Can you mention grams weight next time? ($1200 AU). Thanks.
Can i replace the hdd area with an ssd m.2
This (with a r7 4700u) or a VivoBook with the same specs?
is the power limited to 15W for cpu?
Link to the mentions 15” laptop? Was looking but but no go😊
Is enough to run arcgis? with 16 gb ram in 512ssd but integrated graphics n no dedicated or discrete graphics?
What's the color gamut of the screen?
Just bought this but with Intel i5 11th gen and a 15.6-inch screen with 16 Gb of ram. Can't wait to test it out. Thank you very much for the lovely review.
Note, If you have problems installing Windows 10 as it cannot found any disk inside, you need to disable "intel vmd" in BIOS, then Windows installation will see your SSD disk during installation. You still won't be able to use the trackpad, but hey at least you can install Windows!
Which processor is better for virtual machine Ryzen 5 5500u vs İ5-11th gen?
What is the built quality in this laptop?
Currently having issue connecting to an external display via USB-C. The whole laptop just freezes and I have to hard reset it
Would getting a 4700u improve my gaming performance or is it generally the same?
it would it's more powerful
Watching this is like travelling back in time but then the reviewed items is from the current era. Very weird.
Hi Lon I have the Acer Nitro 5 laptop, is their any computer programs I need other than Word or Word Perfect
Firefox
Please review 17 inches
Did you notice yellow tint on your display? I have the same laptop but with yellow tint. Maybe Lenovo puts different panels. !?
Yes they definitely use different panels on the same models
This is now being adopted by lot of small technology and tech solution companies. In my area, the Fiber Optics internet providers are using Thinkbook 14 series. It may not be the lightest 14 incher but a lot of people would prefer the plethora of ports over super light devices with limited ports, in expense of very modest weight increase. Two full speced Gen 2 Type C ports, multiple type A ports and even Gigabit RJ45 lan port 2ith just over 3 lbs, full metal construction...hard to find at this price.
it is, i bought this laptop with ryzen 3 4300u 8gb soldered 512 gb ssd fhd 14" ips 250 nits 45% ntsc for $629 same price as this laptop review
@@kevinhadinata6406 Currently $698 for 4700u, 16gb DDR4, 512gb SSD and 300 nits touch display from Lenovo store with THINKAPRDEAL coupon.
@@123Suryasis wow that is a good price, in my country that it costs $925 dollar ,ram is still 8gb soldered and display is 250nits, and here doesnt have coupon like that
You are Jeff Cavaliere from Athlean-X, right?😂
Yes without the muscles :)
Thinkpad e14?
I got it with ryzen 7 4700u 16gb dual channel ram touchscreen 300nits 512gb with only 570$
where did you get that offer?
Can u leave the link here? Tks.
i have a spare 8gb ram stick compatible with the laptop, is it worth adding it?
Would this be good for VMix?
No you really want something with an Nvidia GPU
should i get the 14s g2 i5-1135g7 16gb ram or the 14 g2 ryzen 7 4700u 16gb?
depends on use case. for office work, and single threaded tasks get the intel. for multithreaded work like video editing and such, get the ryzen. both are good options
@@miniweeddeerz1820 I mostly do data analysis using R, python, etc.
@@buatagas345 sorry im not familiar with that kind of work. i would assume its single threaded but that depends on the code compiler or interpreter. you would have to do some research yourself. however i can guarantee that both will be good at what you plan to do. you could also look at the acer swift 3 2021 edition as an alternative laptop choice.
@@miniweeddeerz1820 okaay, i think it benefits from the number of cores.. thank u so much
@@buatagas345 yeah just have a look. if its mainly single threaded, go intel. if its mainly multi threaded go amd. but again, you will be happy with both. both are good cpus.
Clearly you didn't test the battery, only read the spec, under heavy load you get barely an hour and a half out of it
Love me a 16:9 display. Keep them coming.
16:9? You mean 16:10?
The keyboard has light?? I need to work at night that why i ask🥺
No :/
Fn plus space so yes
Laptop manufacturers still pairing AMD laptops with worse displays than their Intel counterparts... (smh). The 13 in Intel version of this comes with a 1440p 350 nit display. Would have been nice to see a similar display for this model.
I was almost going shopping until I realized that it doesn't have trackpoint. Disappointing.
the loudspeaker is the worst I have heard in any laptop. The volume is too low to be even useful.
Initially was looking for a good notebook for browsing, turns out it can run GTA5 and RDR2 wtf
Mine had an unrecoverable BSOD on day 2. Asked for a replacement, they refunded because of unavailability. DO NOT BUY no matter how nice the screen looks, quality control seems to be lacking!
Great Review Brother ❤😍😃
Regards from Europe from my channel Bro's 😃👍
Yawn
16:9 should be done by now in ultrabooks.
