    This is the only bottle in my collection I have yet to open. Just FYI I paid $168 in SC for it.
    As usual your review is right on point and humorous as always. Keep up the good work, Bill.

      Thanks Mitch the calumet 16 was one of the best from 2022 for sure

    Catching up on older episodes. I bought a bottle of Calumet 16 for $124 in my area. Love it and it is still on the shelf for that price. Not sure if I want to get a backup, or spend the money on Bardstown Disco 9?

      That’s a great price for the calumet 16! I have had disco 8 and that’s phenomenal. I haven’t tried disco 9 yet. Disco 9 has some Dickel in it while 8 didn’t and I like dickel but I’m going to guess it’s not quite as good as 8. But that’s pure conjecture until I try it lol

    Another insightful review. Before I make any high-end purchases, I check the following channels-- Bourbon Bill, SLB, and Whiskeyrow. Thanks, Bourbon Bill. In spite of this insightful review, would you recommend opening the bottle waiting a whole one or two months, then pouring or neck pour soon after unsealing it?

      Thanks for the kind words. I would just open and enjoy I think it gets a little better with air but no need to wait months on it

    I thought the finish was one of the best I’ve had in a while. It just kept going and going.

    • @bourbonbill
      @bourbonbill  2 года назад +1

      Yeah it was a long finish especially for only 106 proof.

    A+ can't argue with that. "Best Bourbon of 2022" as well. nice! :)

      Thanks it’s a great pour. It shines against the sam houston 15 to me and I enjoy that one as well

    I Paid $140. Yes it's very good, better than the 15 for sure. But I did a side by side vs Remus V and the Remus is just a tad darker
    icher for me. I'm happy I have a bottle of the 16 but I wouldn't pay over $120 for another (hopefully Costco will get it later this year?)

      That’s a good comparison I’ll have to do that myself. I think they are different though one is mgp high aged and one is Barton high aged. Rumor has it the Remus VI this year is younger sadly. I’m in Pa and they don’t sell liquor at the Costcos but yes you are right would be a steal at a Costco price!

    All the barrels from Sam Houston’s are being used for calumet farm’s now

      @bourbonbill  Год назад

      Yeah that’s what I heard. I’m curious though if for 2023 are they going to release a calumet farms 17?

      A few more years on it. I predict 2024 will be calumet 18

    I’ve seen this in the stores, but $140 in my area is a tad price prohibiting for my budget

    • @bourbonbill
      @bourbonbill  2 года назад +1

      Yeah it’s not cheap at all and they raised the price from last year. Sadly though it’s not a horrible price for that high of an age statement.

    Sam houston and calumet are exact same distillate....only difference is in the blending

    • @bourbonbill
      @bourbonbill  2 года назад +1

      Yep sam houston is usually a much smaller batch 3 or so barrels vs 19 barrel blend. Sam Houston is usually a little better. Rumor has it no sam houston this year though

  • @joegrone9671
    @joegrone9671 2 года назад +1

    I think its priced a little to high. 120-130 is a def buy. 150+ is pushing it too far to the edge. Maybe for the hyper rare sam h 16 when it comes out but there is just too much calumet out there.

    • @bourbonbill
      @bourbonbill  2 года назад +2

      I agree it’s expensive for sure. A lot of the higher aged stuff is creeping up. The rumor is they are not doing sam houston anymore I hope that’s false but we may be out of luck on ever seeing a Sam Houston 16
