No better picture of "you can't please everyone" than making a list with allocated whiskey and having people complain that they can never try it and then making a list of all accessible whiskeys and people complaining that it can't be you "favorite of all time" without allocated bottles. Lmao. I love you guys!

@@gtownwr Haha! I know, I meant it in light-hearted jest. I do like the trend of doing two videos though. One that includes hard to get stuff, and one that's limited to reasonably available products. SLB covered their bases by doing both. Pressure is on the complainer to get more creative in their complaints now. Lol

Kurt, what great “closing remarks” sir. I hope your message about “it’s the journey not the destination” resonates with many. We are all so fortunate that we have the income to enjoy this hobby and we can’t forget that it isn’t about the biggest or the most expensive. It’s about the experience(s) with family and friends. I’ve seen many “fads” over the years that often are a great way of separating people from their hard-earned money, only so they feel part of the “in crowd”. Maybe it’s because I’m 58 years old and feel that experiences are what make memories. I’d love to have a 15yr PVW, but I’ll be happy to trade that for time and memories with family and friends with an OF or a BT. Thanks for all you do and keeping the focus on developing the skills to evaluate and understand, while we also understand value. Cheers to you and your great family. - Dan

Great episode, my 2 best of all time are a Crown Royal xr red that was from the last of there Waterloo distillery which burned down and a Glenlivet 18. My sister gave me the 18 year old for Christmas in 1993 after I had lost everything earlier that year from the floods in Iowa. I didn't open it until 2016 when the Cubs won the world series. The cork came out in pieces but it was the most fantastic tasting whisky ever. 1 bottle I keep and will never open is a Johnnie Walker black from the 60s that I got from a ww2 vet hero of mine. He flew not only in ww2 but also in Korea and Vietnam wars.He gave it to me before he passed away and I will always treasure his final gift to me!

I can definitely say the best thing about Bourbon is the experience and sharing with others. I recently started my bourbon journey and my favorite part has been inviting friends over for tastings. That has lead to invitations to bourbon nights at some mutual friends houses. I have met some great people and tried bourbons that I never would have been able to pickup or luckily tried before I buy so I can see what I like. The friendship and conversation that comes out of these bourbon nights are what it is all about for me. You guys were my first whiskeytube channel subscription and still my favorite. Your kindness and genuine love for the spirit and each other shows through in your videos. Keep it up!

My own all time favorites are Old Ezra 15 year old, 101 proof from the 1990s, of which I still have a bottle and a half, and Haller's County Fair bonded bourbon from the 1970s. In those days the label over the bottle top had the dates the whiskey went into the barrel, and when it came out, the age varied some, but it was always over 12 years old, and a fine sipping whiskey.

I appreciate the 2 different lists. The "accessible " and the unicorn list. When it comes to purchasing the bigger bottles, I look around youtube for reviewers w similar views on bottles I already got and who has similar thoughts as I do then I see what they think of the bigger bottle I'm thinking of purchasing. Once the channel gets big enough to where they not only get all/most of the unicorns but they get them every year and/or start doing their own barrel picks all the shows start getting out of my "normal" range lol. Every episode turns into a unicorn parade then a best of unicorns at year's end. Silver lining, I find alot of other whisky-tubers lol. How I initially found this show the other year.

Are there better bottles of whiskey out there? Sure. In fact, I found your channel because I went to a bar a couple of months ago and asked for a glass and they didn't have it, so I tried the 10 yr Bulleit bourbon instead. My Four **Roses** story, tis a true story at that, goes accordingly. While in "high" school we took a class field trip up to tha Big Apple. After a thorough towne excursion, we were ushered by the bus driver into a $3 dollar steakhouse _ an essential element of any N.Y. bound Greyhound package deal for kids _ And afterward took a stroll down tha street to a rather confined small park. Whereupon after entering tha gate we immediately espied an unshaven wino laying on tha frozen ground wrapped snugly in a fall coloured corduroy jacket, newspaper tucked inside peeking out tha skirt, snoring like a grizzly bear, arm outstretched, empty Four Roses bottle firmly grasped in his clinched fist, as if to say nonverbally ... "leave it alone please that's mine". Surely the bottle held so firmly in his stone cold hand was none other than that of the ... "entry" level. Nevertheless, did tha trick didn't it? May you have nothing but sweet dreams in heaven my friend. Here's one to ya & tha bus driver that led us kids into a lesson in life as well.

That's a beautiful bar top right there. Thanks for sharing and KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. I've only been collecting for about 6 months and have learned so much in a short period of time from your channel and found some really great bottles because of it. I procured my first ever Stagg Jr. this week and it was the batch 17 which I think is cool with it being the last "Jr." It did not disappoint on the taste and experience either.
Also...ignore the haters that cry about you showing unicorn bottles. Most of us are happy to learn about them and live vicariously until we can procure one for ourselves. If I can't find the bottle at least I know enough about them to know what I want to spend my money on for a taste at a nice bourbon bar.

But even if we’re unable to find bottles of these ourselves, it gives us a good list with some good insight that some of us can potentially look at trying at a bourbon bar in the future. Years ago I read a quote from Baron Phillipe de Rothchild about wine that I have tried to always apply to wine and bourbon. At a private dinner party he was asked what was the best wine he had ever had. His reply was that his favorite wine of all time was an inexpensive Bordeaux that he shared with his first lover at a chateau in the south of France, because who is there, and the occasion, matter more than just the taste. I couldn't agree more. Who, When, & Where matter. Oh an aside, I find the Redbreast 21 to be superior to the 27. Different tastes...

Loved the sentiment at the end of the video. I too keep bottles that remind me of friends and family. Also glad you spoke highly of the Woodford Reserve Double Oak. I had a bottle at Mardi Gras. Liked it so much I just went out this morning and bought 2 more. Love your reviews.

That's the difference between bourbon and scotch/Japanese whisky, you dont have to have high proof to be fantastic. The regulations put on bourbon kinda limit what can be done, whereas scotch and Japanese have very few restrictions. Another great video from the best channel on whiskey tube! Salud🥃

It always is the journey, and if you are fortunate, sharing the journey; that's the point and you are correct. Nice video!

Great video guys… I’m leaning towards Kurt’s pick but I can appreciate Trenton’s as well. Just an FYI, I acquired a bottle of Old Forrester BIB from 1964, unopened, not a floater in sight. Just waiting for the right opportunity to open it, this video made me realize what I might have here. Thanks

I think you hit the nail on the head there, I'm kind of new to this Whiskey Journey, but, ones personal journey shouldn't be about "The Best Out There" but rather "The Best You Have Had". Like many other things in life if you focus on what you don't have you miss out on the offerings of what you do have or can get.
    Honestly enjoy your videos.

Great show as always. BTW, Thirteenth Colony is in my home town of Americus, Georgia. They have been around 10+ years, and the double oaked is hands down the best of their products that I have tried. I enjoyed seeing Trenton pull that bottle out and have seen it on some other RUclips channels. Hopefully I can try some of the others on your list one day. I would put a Redbreast 26 year barrel pick as the best I have tried, but I only had a pour at a pub.

Always enjoy your videos. I have about 2-3 sips left in my JD Rye. I have been on the lookout for a long time for a replacement. It’s the only one I have had of your lists but the VO.
