Great list Matt! I like how you did this list, bottles you actually have, transparency, and that you did mention the KoK as your #1, even though circumstances kept it off the formal list.
Love your videos Matt! Always keep it real, fun, but never real fun. Kidding! One of the handful of creators I watch pretty much every video in its entirety! Cheers to a great 2024 for you and can't wait to see how many Barrel King bottles end up being on the 2024 list (by merit!)
You are so transparent that I didn’t even see you in this video😜. Great job again! These lists are very helpful, especially for a newbie like me. Thank you
Great video, Matt. Great information You're the absolute best at conveying a huge amount of information in a video that doesn't last 25 minutes. Love it!
Thanks for you content in 2023, it has been a great year watching your channel. Hope to see more of the JD speciality bottles nationwide and more available, you would think they have the stock for it,.
Excellent list. I haven’t had every one of these but I have had the JD 12 Year-not that I could find a bottle on the shelf, but I’ve seen it at a couple of bars (not just fancy whiskey bars either) and have bought a couple of pours. It’s exceptional-definitely one of the best whiskeys I’ve ever had!
Loving that JD is crushing it. Hoping that their production capacity allows for the 10 & 12 year releases becoming more readily available. Also love almost all their experimental releases (the tequila one is kinda average).
Awesome list. I got the JD 10 as I did last year, but the 12, they wanted waaaay too much for it and I refuse to spend astronomical amounts anymore for even the best of whiskies. I’m ready for the hipsters to start liking kool-aid with rum in it or something because prices are getting ridiculous. I’m damn near 50 and to get a great bottle, I have to cut my arm off. Not happening.
I would like to see you do a separate craft list of your favorites. Seeing how craft whiskey is growing like crazy. Great list and yes JD is killing it. I heard that they are doing a 15 year this year.
That JD SB BP rye is phenomenal! I was able to find two bottles. 1 in Dallas and 1 in Richmond, Va. I live a half hr from the distillery and none of the JD products in your list are anywhere near here although I did see a 10 yr for $550. I passed. Love your videos!
I was I was watching your channel about that Jack Daniels Pecan Finished. Definitely like a Pecan Pie in a glass but not too sweet. Had a friend pick me up a few on his trip to Tenn. Wish I was able to get my hands on one of those L7 15 year didn't run across one this year. Overall great list!
Great video Matt! I got to try a lot of these, I personally was disappointed in Disco 10 but disco 11 is wild! Looking forward to getting myself a bottle of gatsby 23. Also what barrel was your M10?
Lost Lantern Far Flung Bourbon and River Roots 6 year Port Finish Bourbon were the 2 best whiskies that anyone (was available for a while with shipping from Seelbachs) could of gotten their hands on but didn't. The Lost Lantern is a blend of Frey Ranch(5yr), Watershed(7yr), Boulder(6yr) and Still Austin(3yr). LL FFB had the taste of chocolate and vanilla coke for me. The River Roots is from an unspecified Kentucky distillery. The RR was a freight train of flavor with oaky chocolate and grape Jam flavors.
Fortunate to get a pour of the JD12 at Cox's in Louisville earlier this year. My sample size isn't as large as Porter's, but it was the best pour I had all year. Cheers!
Loved your list! My additions would possibly be bottles you did not have an opportunity to purchase. My suprising finds include BTAC Eagle, Pappy 20, Four Roses LE 2023, and Birthday Bourbon. Love the Stagg a23 and the EH Taylor Cast Strength.
I love the Porter order! I hope to acquire some more of these bottles in the future. I have a couple, but on the lookout to try Lucky 7 with those higher age statements!
Starting at $70, E.C.C923 top 10 bourbon/whiskey awards #1 Whiskey of the Year- Breaking Bourbon #1 Bourbon of 2023 (blind)- Real Bourbon Talk #2 (A22 and A23) Bourbons & Whiskeys- Mash and Drum #3 Bourbon of the Year- Whiskey Raiders #6 Bourbon of the Year- Whiskey Row #7 (A23) Whiskey of the Year- Bourbon Junkies #8 Whiskey of the Year(blind)- Fred Minnick #9 (A22) Whiskey of the Year- ADHD Whiskey Matt #10 Bourbon of the Year- It's Whiskey Night
I was dying for JD 10&12 but never got either. I could have got the twice barreled, but i tried it and wasnt a fan. Big fan of lucky 7, i have the holiday toast and the frenchman. Great bottles. The only proprietor i seen was a 6yr so i didnt get it.
Heck ya Matt, my JD barrel proof rye bottle was a top 3 of 2023 for me too! (Realizing they all will differ a little yes) Honorable mention to their BiB rye release as well. For the price point & availability it’s amazing!!
Awesome to see I have a few of them ...lol.. Remus Gatsby, Russel's rickhouse cnf, JD 10 &12, barrel proof rye, michter's 10 rye, and stagg. They are all awesome!
This is a very well-considered list. I agree that blinds should be a factor, but not the only factor in creating these lists. I loved JD12 this year. I still put RRSR CNF in front, but lots of good surprises this year. I am sad you did not run down a bottle of the RR13 batch 4, which I thought was really good. Batch 5… I had last night. And while it is my least favorite of the series, it’s still great! Russell’s killing it!
My Guy ! How did you not put your Blue Run Chosen pick in this !?!?!?! That was my absolute favorite from 2023 ! Soooooo Goooood ! I wish I had another one 1️⃣
Rules seem kind of loose, kind of like Matt Madness. But seriously great list 👍. Glad to see both the ECBP A123 and C923 on the list. I actually prefer the A123, if people are having a hard time picking up C923 I highly recommend the A123. I was lucky to have a pour of the JD BP rye at a restaurant about 132 proof and agree that was my fav rye of the year but I’m unlikely to see a bottle.
By some strange freak of whiskey nature, I scored two bottles of JD12 last year and a bottle of JDSBBPR. I agree that both are fantastic. That said, I don’t have many of the rest of your list. 😢
Just saw a Remus Gatsby the other day… just sayin’… it’s out of my price range. 😊 Great list! I found a JD10 in 2023 and dang is it good. The JD12 is in my list for this year!
Hopefully 13Th Century Rye Reserve makes you 2024 list Matt. Bottle shipped today! That is if you're channel will be around? I remember hearing your moving on to another venture soon.
II'll give you my take on their "regular bourbon." 13th Colony apparently sources from MGP. My belief is that their Southern Bourbon ("regular bourbon") is a very good expression of MGP's 21% rye mashbill. If you like MGP's 21% rye mashbill (I am a big fan) you will like this.
I hate to tell you this but to produce more 12-year-old whiskey you had to ramp up production 12 years ago!!! Great video . I agree with a lot of picks I was able to taste and 2023 which isn’t much but a lot of agree with yours.

Excellent list - JD definitely killed it in '23. Thanks for another great year of content!
Tennessee representing plus Brown Forman, Barton, and Turkey love? What’s not to love about that!? Great lineup Matt!
JD gettin' it done! Nice list Matt. Thanks for all your hard work. Keep it up!
Heck yeah! What a banger of a list. Cheers to you buddy!
Very cool that you went into detail how you got the A233 laser code. 🙂
Great list Matt! JD is on fire!
Like the list. Love that Single Rickhouse is so high up. How does it and the JD12 stack up to the KoK?
I picked up a batch 1 today cant wait to find out how right you are
Love the transparency. How do you get a distillery to notice you? I’m assuming doing a bunch of bourbon reviews on YT.
Love your videos Matt! Always keep it real, fun, but never real fun. Kidding! One of the handful of creators I watch pretty much every video in its entirety! Cheers to a great 2024 for you and can't wait to see how many Barrel King bottles end up being on the 2024 list (by merit!)

Great video, Matt. Great information You're the absolute best at conveying a huge amount of information in a video that doesn't last 25 minutes. Love it!
Your list is great Matt. Love all the Jack representation. Cheers!
Loved it Matt. Having been a fan for a long time, so many on the list don’t surprise me one bit. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks for you content in 2023, it has been a great year watching your channel. Hope to see more of the JD speciality bottles nationwide and more available, you would think they have the stock for it,.

Thank you, Matt. Great video.
You have to be on the lookout for the Ben Holiday Soft Red Wheat Rickhouse Proof. So good! Cheers!
Hell yes. Agreed
Great list matt..wish I could get at least half of them in the uk..many thanks
Loving that JD is crushing it. Hoping that their production capacity allows for the 10 & 12 year releases becoming more readily available. Also love almost all their experimental releases (the tequila one is kinda average).
Excellent list Matt! Love the channel. Sagamore 8 year?
Long time listener, first time caller. Just absolutely love your content. Keep up the amazing work in 2024 🙌
Awesome list. I got the JD 10 as I did last year, but the 12, they wanted waaaay too much for it and I refuse to spend astronomical amounts anymore for even the best of whiskies. I’m looking forward to the Stagg review. I have the same bottle and hope you love it as much as I do.
Great list Matt❤️
Love it! Great list! I got lucky and got 2 Remus Gatsby Reserves. Opened 1 and it is a banger! Love it, keep up the good work.

Great list Matt, 1 missing that is a banger, Hard Truth…. Love all there products..
I was able to get a few on your list. My favorite is four roses 135th limited edition.
Great list 🎉
Great video!!!! look forward to your content in 2024.

Looks like the LL is back in stock at Seelbach’s
Very cool for them to gift you the KoK.
Fortunate to get a pour of the JD12 at Cox's in Louisville earlier this year. My sample size isn't as large as Porter's, but it was the best pour I had all year. Cheers!
Great list. Agree on the Jack 12 and Jack SBBP rye.
Yes! I literally just picked up the Jack Daniels Single Barrel, Barrel proof rye today! First score of the Year!
Great transparency and strong list.
Have you tasted the 4roses 135th?
I can’t wait until Matt’s review in 2050 - it will be the top 50 whiskies! Great list matt!
NIIIIIIIIIIIIICE! 2023 WAS EPIC 4 SURE!
A good list, Bro Porter. I’ve never heard of Boulder before, gotta put on my search shoes.
I love the Porter order! I hope to acquire some more of these bottles in the future. I have a couple, but on the lookout to try Lucky 7 with those higher age statements!

Great list. Another great bourbon that not many people are talking about was Garrison Brothers Cowboy bourbon at 140.7 proof. It was just fantastic!
Lucky seven had some great products in 2023. Looking forward to their 2024 releases!
Nice list and I have a few of those…totally agree with your thoughts on the ones in common.
@ADHDwhiskey with all the JD love where do you think the heritage barrel rye would've landed had you gotten a bottle?
Love the list and a lot of great whiskey on it brother!
Heck ya Matt, my JD barrel proof rye bottle was a top 3 of 2023 for me too! (Realizing they all will differ a little yes) Honorable mention to their BiB rye release as well. For the price point & availability it’s amazing!!
Great list! Jack Daniel's really did great in 2023 and I hope for more in 2024! Thanks for the video!
Awesome to see I have a few of them ...lol.. Remus Gatsby, Russel's rickhouse cnf, JD 10 &12, barrel proof rye, michter's 10 rye, and stagg. They are all awesome!
Jack killed it in 2023! I really enjoyed JD twice barreled too 🤙

Did you try RRSR CNC? I’d be curious how it stacks against the CNF
My Guy ! How did you not put your Blue Run Chosen pick in this !?!?!?! That was my absolute favorite from 2023 ! Soooooo Goooood ! I wish I had another one 1️⃣
I cant put my own picks into a best of list lol
Here we go!!!!!!
I liked it better when the bourbon flippers turned their noses up at JD products. JD has been killing it with special releases since at least 2018.
Need to check out the AD Laws 4 Grain cask strength. The specific barrel pick I have is phenomenal.
I got it from total wine in centennial :D
Love that you restricted it to bottles you could easily get ahold of. Love the content brother, keep it up.
JD 12 was my pick as well. Cheers
Did you review the KoK or just speaking off hand? I’d like an episode please!
Just curious. Why no Willet Purple tops? Didn’t get a bottle or just not as good to you as what’s on your list? Thanks
Have you done a review on that KoK?
Thse videos are pretty awesome. We need a place where we can buy some of these at MRSP or close! Lol. I've only gotten lucky once.
SO SO SO Happy that Holladay made your list Matt!! Wait until you get your hands on a seven year Rickhouse proof!! Might be a Top 10'er!!
By some strange freak of whiskey nature, I scored two bottles of JD12 last year and a bottle of JDSBBPR. I agree that both are fantastic. That said, I don’t have many of the rest of your list. 😢
Matt- Can we get a ranking of Barrel King Bottles for 2023?
Have you ever had Augusta Buckner’s 13?!? Absolutely fantastic!
Matt, have you tried the Hard Truth sweet mash rye?
Got it in before the end of 2024. Nice job Matt!
That King of Kentucky is so good. Had it at a hotel last month and it’s now my grail bottle.
What laser code is your ECBP A123?
I’m on board with the Jack 12. Absolutely unbelievable
Had JD12 at a Speakeasy...it was simply phenomenal. I'm chasing that bottle for sure as well as Camp Nelson F. I have Camp Nelson C and it's awesome.
Was the 12 yr Jack Daniels anything like the 10 year that came out a few years ago?
Look at Matt, defending the honor of A222 laser code owners across the country. You are an American hero!
I.W Harper 15 year review would be dope. Seems eh, but you’re the pro!
You gotta try Sagamore 8 year. Best Rye I've had and a top 10 pour for me all time.
Just saw a Remus Gatsby the other day… just sayin’… it’s out of my price range. 😊
Great list! I found a JD10 in 2023 and dang is it good. The JD12 is in my list for this year!
Great list! JD12 is 100% the best whiskey of 2023.
Agree that JD SB BP rye is phenomenal, preferably the 130+ proofs.
Hopefully 13Th Century Rye Reserve makes you 2024 list Matt. Bottle shipped today! That is if you're channel will be around? I remember hearing your moving on to another venture soon.
I bought that bottle of Jack Daniel's toasted pecan in Memphis. It is so freaking good!
Well done, Jack Daniels!!! Love you Matt!!
Swapped 20ml with port of a fresh crack SBJD Rye. Didn’t last the weekend. Been enjoying them on their own but wanted to experiment.
I see 13th colony double oaked making several lists this year. Is their regular bourbon worth picking up also?
II'll give you my take on their "regular bourbon." 13th Colony apparently sources from MGP. My belief is that their Southern Bourbon ("regular bourbon") is a very good expression of MGP's 21% rye mashbill. If you like MGP's 21% rye mashbill (I am a big fan) you will like this.
How do people find/afford these amazing bourbons?
I hate to tell you this but to produce more 12-year-old whiskey you had to ramp up production 12 years ago!!! Great video . I agree with a lot of picks I was able to taste and 2023 which isn’t much but a lot of agree with yours.
We wouldn't need the laser code to call you out on the RR13, the neck tag is the giveaway lol. ❤
JD is in fire
No Jim Beam white label? Lol. Great list. Wish I could get half of them! Love that JD is releasing tasty whistle again.
