I just in the past couple of weeks began seriously experimenting with rye. So far I've tried Sagamore Spirit and Bulleit, both of which are MGP juice. They're interesting and not unpleasant, but they're not my kind of whiskey. Now I've liked Knob Creek rye in the past, and it's from Jim Beam instead of MGP so it's different stuff (and if I remember correctly it's a "barely legal" rye). But I do need to try it again. And there are some other ryes I want to try before I definitively decide whether rye's my speed. The Bulleit and Sagamore Spirit were vegetal and mineral, but I think a rye that gives more of a spicy profile might work better for me, since I like some high rye bourbons (e.g. Old Grand-Dad, Bulleit). The only American barley whisky I've ever had (I'm American, and so eschew British English 🙂) is the Lineage Texas Single Malt from Balcones Distilling. It's *intensely* fruity, with the smokiness and density of flavor that are characteristic of Balcones juice. 20:33 OGD BiB is much better than you'd guess from the price. I know much more about bourbon than I do about any other whisky, though I'm no expert. But of y'all's first three, all I've had is the Old Grand-Dad. 🙂 Well, now it's one out of four...do I hear one of five? we'll see. 🤠 Yep - I've had just 20% of the bourbons on the bar. 😂
Last week I bought an American single malt, Courage & Conviction from the Virginia Distilling Co. It is quite good! Definitely reminded me of a Scotch. Another one that I'm hoping to get my hands on someday is Little Rest by Tenmile Distillery up in New York.

Greetings from the UK. My wife and I love your videos. The vibe between you two makes for great entertainment and educational too. I did chuckle about the "daily drinker". I still find it amazing that certain bottles aren't available in some States. Is that down to local regulations?
I think it is down to distilleries work through distributors who are not all completely nationwide. That and a lot of states have state government run distribution, which means a distillery would have to have arrangements with that particular states government to distribute. A lot of distilleries would then have a product that becomes regional in nature more than nation wide

There are some good bottles out there but it has a good color, great malt flavors without the malt funk, and I could see Irish/Scotch malt haters actually enjoying it.

I think everyone’s gonna have a different “daily-drinker” that changes every few months. Basic Buffalo Trace is my current daily, because it’s $24 and so easy to drink - good flavor, no sharp alcohol bite.
@@scottdeatherage1810 It's everywhere in southern California for between $21-25, all the chain stores, just waiting. It would be great if this state could somehow exchange ship the excess to a state that has plenty of say, Early Times Bottled in Bond, because there's zero distribution for that here. So they could just fire some of that over for us. But apparently, that's asking way too much in life.
When you are looking at American Single Malt you MUST consider Westland Distilling in Seattle. They have been doing batch numbers for years and are stellar. Give them a try.
Just found your channel a little bit ago. Heard you mention Triangle and Trail Inn as your local. Living in Valparaiso myself and I frequent both stores. Keep up the good work
I think Westland is a must for the ASM category, from your picks only tried Stranahan's Blue Peak and Cedar Ridge which I found as nice and interesting Single Malts. Sorry to hear WR is not 100% malted barley, as soon as legislation gets approved it won't qualify as ASM. Finally, a couple of days ago had the chance to taste Balcones Peated and was really impressive.
I don't know how, but Early Times around me is like $15 when it comes around. It's a crazy good deal - even better because most places I see outside of my area tend to have at low $20 range
I strongly recommend Bird Creek Distillery in Portland, OR as they have an awesome singlee malt whiskey. Also, if you can, try to head to eastern Kentucky and pick up Brothers Wright coal mine aged whiskey. Also, I love the Iowa representation in the line-up!
My wife would say that actually it is correct to say "with Trent and me" :) because we never say "with I" in reference to ourselves - only with me.. So because you're saying "down here with Trent" you have to say "and me" if you want to include yourself. If you say something about you and Trent another way where you would normally use I for yourself, then you say I, so Trent and I want to try such and such a bottle.. 😉😊
Another woodford product, you guys should do a Comparison of the Regular /woodford line up, and do a comparison because there also the regular, wheat , of cource the malt whiskey as you had on the show, and the Rye, , Than of cource double oaked.
You mentioned Baseball so now you need to go to triangle on lincolnway and grab a field of dreams bottle. Would love to see a review. They had 3 in the case last week
As a fan of New Riff and ASM, have your had a chance to try their new release? They are calling it a Kentucky Single Malt, 7yr stated, cask strength. It's amazing and happy to send you a sample if you haven't already tried it. Also, to correct Trenton, Party Source and New Riff are (barely) in KY, not in OH. 😂

Just found your channel a little bit ago. Heard you mention Triangle and Trail Inn as your local. Living in Valparaiso myself and I frequent both stores. Keep up the good work
Ahhh hope to see you one day!
Great vid guys! Some of those picks were spot on and some I will need to explore.
Gunna have to veer off the bourbon trail to try a malt or two. Love the ryes.
Sad to see that Westward American single Malt didn’t make the cut. It’s truly a fantastic product.
would like to try the russells 13 but its $350 here in NY..too rich for my blood.....great video as usual..
Thanksgiving long weekend here in Canada....so its a holiday Monday!
I love getting to watch an SLB hot off the presses!
Cheers from Manitoba! 🍗🥃🍁
The regular Alberta Rye is great as well
You guys do great videos!
i absolutely love Lot 40 on my pallet
My Old Overholt 114 is actually stamped "Ohio Release" 🤔
Great video! Both do your 5 whiskies. We will hang around and watch I promise.
Love love love these videos ❤
I love the show guys.
I think the 4 different grains would be interesting thing ,,,, There also all the same Proof!!!
You guys have to try Driftless Glen Cask Strength Rye. My favorite rye by far. Only $50 too.
You mentioned Baseball so now you need to go to triangle on lincolnway and grab a field of dreams bottle. Would love to see a review. They had 3 in the case last week
LMFAO that cork pop though!!!
Found 3 bottles of ET BIB for 19.99 at my local chain grocery the other day. You know I bought all 3!
Y’all are the best!!!
Great video. Should be an annual tradition.
More American single malts please.
Cedar ridge limited quint runs are $100 I believe. The standard is $65.
