After watching your vid, I built up the courage to go solo camping. Although it was for 1 night, I still felt quite accomplished. First time solo and I've been camping for over 15 years.. thank you!
love your energy. Theres a lot of high energy, highly social people in the adventuring/camping scene, and i really appreciate watching someone like myself who is just out and about alone, calm and just enjoying themselves! I really appreciate you making these videos, because due to the nature of (both people) solo camping and being introverted its pretty impossible to meet (and get to know) other people who are the same, thank you!

Hi Madison. Just a tip for next spring. Moose quite often will swim to an island to give birth and start there young and they can be very dangerous. Also my neighbour and dog were attacked by a deer back in June and the dog took a beating. Same thing, protecting her fawn. I saw the story about the dog being trampled and killed by a deer in K town in the last few days. Be safe, love the adventures!!!!!! K
I'm so impressed by all the many different things you're doing. Living the good life, away from stress and some alone time. Wish it was me! You're an amazing young woman, such an inspiration. It's so great to see an alternative way to spend time, an alternative to the very very shallow world we live in, especially for young people. Keep doing what you're doing. Greetings from Denmark 👋👋
That dog coat combo rocks! Enjoyed watching. Great Pup! Happy camping. Always be aware of your weather and be ready. You should carry a small roll of 4 inch duc-tape for temporary repairs to bags & jackets. Take care and be safe. Your learning. Look after that good companion of yours, he is a smart & courageous dog.
Your enthusiasm is contagious, your open-mindedness is inspiring, and your honesty is admirable. I love how you are so candid about your relative recent entry into solo camping as well as your perpetual state of reflection about your choices. We've all had sleepless nights that taught us something, and no honest person who has camped in bear country can say he or she has never worried about bears. You need a canoe; maybe a builder will cut a great deal for you as a sponsor. A suggestion: file the back of your Companion to a 90˚ angle, then use it to scrape that fatwood. The shavings are finer and will catch a spark more easily from your ferro rod. My apologies if I'm repeating something you know! Great to see you out again with Kyro. That's a truly special relationship.
Thanks for sharing your adventures with Kyro! I also backpack and camp with my dogs and put a z coil foam pad over my expensive pad. The z coil is extra gear to take but is very light and helps protect my good pad.
We love that lake. My kids and I enjoyed swimming and paddling around the islands. The views on the way up are amazing aswell. Fyi, the fishing sucked for us up there too. As you found out, the water is very choppy and terifying to paddle on windy days. It pushed us over to one side of the lake, and we just had to wait it out. Good job at toughing it out and pushing thru. If you need a better sleep the accommodations are nothing short of amazing. They also do boat/ kayak rentals for the doggo! - you dont need to be a guest to rent them either. Have fun ! I'm happy to see the documentary style video, its way better than the glorfied influancer style.
Hiii.. Madison I am from India, about 2,3 days ago i accidentally clicked on your video ( due to your eyes, yes not so accidentally) and i watched all of your videos in just 2 days, its so freshing, so loveable type of videos I just love your content mainly because of your purity in the videos... You just so Pure❤ Always keep it that way❤
You should definitely invest in a canoe at some point. It made the world of difference travelling in the backcountry with my dog when I switched from my sea kayak to a canoe. Easier to fish out of too! Happy adventuring!
Kudos for perseverance and facing some serious challenges! It’s always amplified when your dog is involved…that level of added responsibility! I used to face that during dog sled expeditions! One thing I’ve learned is how resilient and courageous dogs can be! How they are happiest when connected with you in adventure! Your dog looked pretty solid on the board in rough waters!!
When looking for a place to camp on an unfamiliar lake in Canada, look for stands of Red or White Pine. They'll always be the tallest trees on the horizon. You'll need to find a large group of them growing together. That's your campsite. Why? Because these trees are the tallest in the forest, their needles will kill all the vegetation growing underneath them, giving you a nice open area to camp.
Amazing just after we left you went on this adventure. Glad u got back safely. Love reading how u inspire so many people. Keep on following your passions!
Thanks for the reminder to get out there no matter the weather, definitely going to try to get Stiglitz (my dog) to go kayaking and camping with me, cheers! Stay safe out there
My favorite part was when you and Kyro looked out on the lake together and you put your arm around him. He seems so much like my dog Bramble...including the chipmunk obsession 🤣 Great video! We're having an epic mushroom season in the PNW. Do you ever include wild mushroom finds into your camp meals? If you haven't you should consider giving it a try 🤓
This kind of a fun channel. I like that you are learning the best ways to go about things. Most of these types of channels are like boring instructional videos on how good the hosts are at doing this kind of stuff. Good post thanks
The "shoulder seasons" can definitely be an exciting time for outdoor adventuring, especially with the cold. Of course, in some places, it can get down to 0 C or even colder at night or in the morning even on hot summer days! Like Maligne Lake in Japser for instance.
I adore Mad’s and her mum in her video, Maddy is the kinda girl I would have loved to meet when I was younger ……. Outdoor girl, camper girl and beautiful without makeup. Perfection personified in the modern world.
Oh, this was a wonderful surprise to see up. I always enjoy your videos and especially the meal portions. I never took time to understand the different tents and types of camping until I stumbled across your channel
Hi, Thanks so much for making these videos. Watching them makes me feel like I'm out there too. Kiro is awesome, such a brave pup! Keep up the great work!!
Great vlog, your videos are always well-made, pure, clean, and show magnicifent scenery of God's wonderful creation, Madison! Keep staying like you are, Madison!
I’ve been solo canoe camping in wind like that. Wasn’t the funnest thing ever. Had a full 16 foot canoe. Me and my dog. Was a LOT of work to get back to the vehicle.
I had left a comment on your instagram post regarding this incident of yours. The water in any waterbody heats up during the day, and the evaporation would tend to cause a vaccume over the water body, if it weren't for winds. The winds will swoop into the area and fill the vaccume formed by the evaporation. So in essence the wind will always pick up from the afternoon onwards over any body of water... Hope you guys stay safe and keep creating more such content!
I've been dehydrating my own veggies for backpacking meals for years. All the packaged food is just rice/noodles and sauce ... and so salty. So I always make my own. I also find that sour cream actually dehydrates quite well. - dehydrated cherimoya fruit is to die for.

I'm kinda happy she didn't catch a fish. I can just see her leaning into getting the fish on board and turning over the kayak. Maybe put a solid sleep pad on top of the inflatable pad under the dog in the future. I wonder why she didn't sleep?, too cold, anxiety, fear. Fear of nothing will make you stay home. I would stay off the water in Autumn and Winter. Looked fun though so keep having weekend adventures. Second language? French. But, I really need to be immersed to learn the language so I need to travel to France, Haiti, (not really Haiti), Martinique, etc.
