Things I like about her videos: 1. no music. 2. pure and genuine 3. no fast video transitions and effects. 4. no influencer vibes. 5 just pure vlogging and documenting.
When I am kayaking, I will add low volume music in quiet spots, when there are rapids, I will put some rapid music in with the water sounds, but anytime there is talking or nature sounds, I fade out the music. I don't have a strong feeling about music, pro or con.
I hope you enjoy this peaceful camp as much as I did. Debating on getting a drone so I can share just how beautiful this vast land is. If this video gets 3000 likes I’ll convince myself to get one!! 😆
A picturesque presentation. I strongly recommend that you get a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), and carry it on your person 24 hours a day. If your pump up paddle board fails you, injury, prowlers (2 or 4 legged), whatever occurs, you can summon rescue assistance. It has to save you only once to pay for itself. Better yet, you will never need it, and the cost was wasted money. Get it, and be prepared. Courtesy of Half Vast
Awesome to see! I just turned 32 and I fell back in love with the outdoors a few years ago after growing up camping. Nothing beats camping with your dog(s). Love your content 🤙🏼
this is just too wholesome, my wholesome-etron meter is going ballistic. I live in the big city with my dog right now but we're moving out in the woods soon to experience stuff like this! god bless from Sweden
Thanks for sharing your adventure with the You -Tube audience. Your lake looks like an idyllic place to enjoy some down time. Kudos for the attention, affection and awareness that you show to your dog.; tis plain to see that you're a true animal lover .. Cheers.
I'm turning 27 next month as well, and hopefully I can start to explore outdoors and nature next year when my job settles down and finances in check. Yea fishing is hard. When I started, i wished someone else taught me instead of looking like an idiot and catching nothing lol. But thank God figured everything out. Here are just some quick pointers for you: At 9:04, what your holding is called Berkeley Power worm. They are mostly used for large mouth and small mouth bass. The way you rig these curly tail worm is by using a rig called "Texas Rig". You typically fish that rig really slowly and bounce along the bottom near a structure (rocks, piers, docks, sunken tree, and etc). Not in the wide middle of the water. At 9:13, the boppers are mostly used for smaller fish like sunfish, perch, and etc. It's mostly for fish that floats in the middle water column near the shore. You typically want to put on a live bait like Earthworms (which can be found by flipping over a rock). I hate using boppers because they're just not practical. At 9:39, what your holding is called Curly Tail grub. They are typically attached on to a small jig head and bounce on the bottom and slowly retrieve it to you. They're not meant to be putting on a bopper and just cast out and wait. I typically use them when I wade in a river or a small stream for trout or bass. At 10:03, the fishing jumping out the water could be bass chasing baitfish or carp doing a top water roll. To catch these active fish, I would use a crank bait, throw it out, then retrieve at a steady pace back to you. I would use a fan method of casting. At 10:08, what your holding is a spinner bait. The way you work them is literally just cast it out and retrieve it back to you at a steady consistent pace. They can be used to catch anything predatory. You won't catch anything if you let them sit out and do nothing. Hope my tips helps. I really wanna see you catch your first fish lol! You can watch some large channels for fishing tips like 1rod1reel, JonB, Realistic fishing, or ExtremePhillyFishing
Good stuff Madison. So majority of the tackle you got in that package is for bass fishing. The presentations used for trout are more finesse. Trout in most of these interior lakes primarily feed on aquatic inverebrates, so having a few flies which imitate these food items would be more effective. A spinning reel, as opposed to a spincasting reel like the one you were using, would also allow you to cast much further. But yeah, there's bit of a learning curve but over time you'll pick up what works or not, eventually catching becomes consistent. Good luck and happy to answer fishing questions if you have any. 🙂
Yes or the simple live worm on a bobble (rainbow trout, most trouts/ dont count steelhead but they are close) are super small) at close to correct depth. Spin casting reel if it tangles as a new comer your done for the trip.
Edit: oops, just saw another fishing video you posted. Looks like you got your lures figured out already! I’m no expert, but if you don’t want to mess with fly fishing or worms, I personally have a lot of success with kastmasters (these lures cast very far and are great for fishing on lakes and in water that’s at least a meter deep) or rooster tails (these little spinners are good in rivers and seem best when it’s still early spring and the fish are a little lethargic) when fishing for trout in the interior U.S. Both of those options are beginner-friendly and would work with the rod/reel you already own.
BC has some pretty strict fishing regulations, check the region guidelines before you start and make sure you have your license and required stamps. Depending on the season and body of water you can get into big trouble with the conservation officers if you get caught breaking the regs. For example only single barbless hooks are permitted in BC, but almost all new hooks will be barbed. You have to crimp the barb before you start fishing, it helps to clip some needle nose pliers to your fishing vest.
It’s the Greek word for mister/master/lord… so… I think it’s pretty cool 😂 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyrios#:~:text=Kyrios%20or%20kurios%20(Ancient%20Greek,lord%22%20or%20%22master%22.
Thank you for taking the time and investing the effort in documenting your outing, Madison. This lake looks like trout heaven! Just watching a video like this relaxes me and, until recently, I did a lot of fishing out of a kayak on similar water. For a beginner, any small shiny lure like a mepps spinner or tiny kastmaster would be ideal. And rather than cast, troll. Let out about 50' of line (you want the lure to be trailing beyond the disturbance of your wake). If you see fish feeding on the surface - usually in the evening or morning and often on overcast days - troll a little bit faster, which will bring the lure closer to the surface. Try different depths by varying your speed on the paddleboard. Trout eat both insects and small fish, so lots of options are available. My all-time favorite trolling lure for trout is a bright chrome mini-wobbler (I believe they are sometimes called snap-beans, because they are stubby like a bean). And trolling a caddis fly has been very productive on days when the water is like glass and surface feeding is apparent. Whatever lure you use, going tiny will increase your chances of catching trout. I'd wish you good luck, but luck has little to do with catching fish! P.S. Most importantly, when you do catch a trout, wet your hands before handling if you don't plan to eat it. Protective slime protects the fish by keeping pathogens at bay. Dry hands removes the slime and, more often than not, infection will inevitably kill the trout. In fact, if you have hemostats or needlenose pliers to remove the hook without touching the fish, all the better!
Took my kids to the BWCA in northern Minnesota back in around 2000, taught my Daughter how to fish, had her cast into a small bay and bam, a northern pike!!! We filled ourselves with fried fish that evening.😃
I've been recommended your clips sporadically but this is the first full video I watched. And you are awesome!!! I've spent the past couple years getting familiar with Wisconsin and northern lakes, it's so awesome, as someone from the South I want to move up North so badly. I really love your simple and approachable ways of getting outdoors, makes me feel like I can paddle out to an island without having to spend a ton of money. Can't wait to watch more !
First time I have come across your videos. Absolutely beautiful, really well made. Really enjoyed the natural sounds & your commentary. Thank you so much.
This video was a breath of fresh air! 🏕🌲 Your camping adventure, along with your loyal furry companion, is such an inspiration. I admire your courage to explore and camp in the wilderness solo. Oh man, this is something I had thought about doing for years and years. Packing all that I need into my kayak and just going out to a small island on a local lake for the night and enjoying the solitude.
I am a fisherman from North Carolina and I am here to tell you I believe it is a good idea you learning about the plants some can help with sickness but the wrong ones can kill you... Very cool video I appreciate you sharing it with us... Love your dog!!!!!!
I also had to teach myself to fish as an adult and it can take a long time and sometimes it doesn't feel like you're making any progress but you'll get there if you keep at it! For a beginner it can make a huge difference using higher quality lures like mepps or rapalas. If you think they're small fish, real worms are the best bet.
Would love to see more fishing videos, perhaps trying bait fishing, it would be so cool to see you catch your first fish. This was a great little camping video, keep it up 👍 Cheers -Doc
Good evening Madison & Kyro ! Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventure & Happy Belated Birthday ! That bag sounds like it’s a wonderful investment ! Kyro’s awesome & you’re very lovely young lady ! May the year be filled with many fun packed adventures, keep smiling !
Just found your channel, very cool. If I may... Live bait is the secret, yep, bait a hook w/a worm). 2 fishing poles, 1 for bobber & 1 for spinning. It doubles your chances, and remember, 2 is 1 and 1 is none (same for water and fire starters). Hang food higher suspended from cordage between two trees (bears can climb trees). Burn food and/or garbage, do not keep garbage in camp, and wash dishes in the water. Hope you fare well.

After 7 days, she realizes she's not much of a survivalist and is going to starve out here. thank goodness she brought livestock with her. Right as she's grilling up her lifelong companion, she see a boat and they come to rescue her.
First time seeing your channel,... you don't complain, you don't act entitled, you are wholesome and adventurous,. .... as an old guy, I predict your channel will be very popular with young men.... if it is not already..... the girlfriend everyone wish they had...

I always use a size 8 hook and fly fish as well. The Powerbait that is a puddy works well. You can fish bottom with a slip sinker and regular sinker. The slip sinker let's the bait float up a few feet to get it off the bottom.
I have a daughter of your age (well, 2 years older in fact) and absolutely love your passion and the way you spend your time. I used to hike and camp in my youth and pretty much until my 50ies and would absolutely be thrilled if my daughter would try this.....one another thing, I've been to Canada (and Scandinavia) and tasted the beauty of the majestic wilderness you have access to....live it girl, to its fullest 😃
Thanks for taking us on your adventure. Looks like you had a grate time. I use salad shrimp for bate when going after trout. At the end of the day you can make a salad with the shrimp if you have no fish.
Finally! A female outdoorswoman that isn't walking around half naked and bending over in front of the camera just to get views! Your just real and being you, what breath of fresh air. BTW happy belated birthday lol
Good video, just never got into camping. My camping is taking my coffee onto back deck and listening to the wildlife around me. Watching all the deer come thru my property is awesome !
I bought a quilt years ago. Totally agree with the thermodynamics of it all. I'm just a tosser and turner. I went back to a mummy bag, but I use it more like a quilt with a giant foot box. I just zip it up to ky knees and tuck the sides under me. I think it works pretty good for me.
Fishing reel tip hold line between thumb and for finger when reeling in a slack line. This will maintain a clean spool with no bunching or tangle. Casting will be amazing different
Keep on truckin' on, girl. Being self sufficient is the best thing you can do for yourself. It doesn't close others out, it keeps options available. 👍😉
i turn 27 next year and you make me miss life living in the country. i used to damn near live out in the woods growing up, really hope i can get back out there more the next couple years. best of luck with all your yt videos.
Life is what you make of it!& Darlin your takin charge! Great video and enjoy living it up every day!! You remind me of my daughters, follow your dreams and live it up! Keep in mind people love seeing pups in videos, you'll get more likes showing off your pup! Good luck!
Great video!! I have an inflatable 2 person kayak and my dog and I go out on a solo camping adventures all the time together!! Nothing like being out in the woods with your best furry friend
Great vid! Helpful tip, the ground tarp shouldn't go on the ground LOL. If it rains heavily, water can still run between the tarp and the base of the tent creating moisture in your sleeping gear. Put the tarp in your tent and put your sleeping bag on top of it for extra protection as then the moisture has two layers to go through to get to you!
Super cool. My cousin and I went camping at Brown Creek in the Olympic national forest here in Washington. Two grown men in their thirties, we were tripped out by a mouse running across my tent tarp at 3am, to be fair we had heard a Cougar earlier in the day. He was way more stressed about the wild life than I was, but I grew up camping and living in the woods.
Love your adventure and your very simple delivery. A paddle-board is likely the worst method of traveling by water for camping get aways. A canoe or kayak(harder with a pup) allows you to haul more gear, is a safer mode of transport and covers far more territory.
Solo overlanding is a personal pilgrimage, and this video is the roadmap. From the quiet contemplation of solo camping to the exhilaration of the open road - a soloist's symphony.
I have that same tent, love it! I actually use it on my yearly hunting trip, was all about camo & stealthy tents but in my old age and busted back from 8 years in the Marine Corps, I have become a fan of ultra light stuff now.
Things I like about her videos: 1. no music. 2. pure and genuine 3. no fast video transitions and effects. 4. no influencer vibes. 5 just pure vlogging and documenting.
Why thank you! I go back and forth on if I should include music on the quiet clips but that’s good to know
When I am kayaking, I will add low volume music in quiet spots, when there are rapids, I will put some rapid music in with the water sounds, but anytime there is talking or nature sounds, I fade out the music. I don't have a strong feeling about music, pro or con.
Love this, esp #4, but imho music could be used in a tasteful manner. New subscriber here. Great channel
The random gems that hit my feed. Good times.
this is definitely not pure and genuine. the location is pre-scouted to make it more interesting (grave site, scenic backdrop, ideal camping grounds).
Everything you need. A great dog friend, a good boat ( pretty practical! ) some food and a sense of wonder. Wonderful to see this video!
I hope you enjoy this peaceful camp as much as I did. Debating on getting a drone so I can share just how beautiful this vast land is. If this video gets 3000 likes I’ll convince myself to get one!! 😆
Definitely. Drone shots are fantabulous!
No need for a drone. As it does create a nice overlook of the area, it isn’t needed.
Maybe someday, but not a necessity
Happy Birthday! Thanks for the vids!
You’re so rad. But you killed me seeing my own reflection make my gourmet veggie dogs on bread 😅❤

Kyro has an amazing life. Keep safe and adventure on!
Your vids make me wanna go camping
Utmost respect for your sense of adventure. Great presentation and camera skills!
Fishing reel tip hold line between thumb and for finger when reeling in a slack line. This will maintain a clean spool with no bunching or tangle. Casting will be amazing different
Beautiful and resourceful young lady, thank you for sharing, Gary, Stewart BC🎉
Love your videos. Love your independence. Your videos are so enjoyable and full of beauty and interest. Great job
Smart girl wearing life jacket.
👍👍😁😁
Keep on truckin' on, girl. Being self sufficient is the best thing you can do for yourself. It doesn't close others out, it keeps options available. 👍😉
Such a beautiful boy Kyro. I know NOTHING about fishing. Kudos to you.
i turn 27 next year and you make me miss life living in the country. i used to damn near live out in the woods growing up, really hope i can get back out there more the next couple years.

A breathtaking place to camp, Happy Birthday and with a bit of time you'll have angling down to a science
Hope you find what you are looking for....this is something everyone needs to do....God be with 😎 and have a awesome time...
Life is what you make of it!& Darlin your takin charge! Great video and enjoy living it up every day!! You remind me of my daughters, follow your dreams and live it up! Keep in mind people love seeing pups in videos, you'll get more likes showing off your pup! Good luck!
Wow, Madison is a Dream
Wish I could do something like this, looks like a lot of fun. I love the nature,so quiet and peaceful
Great video!! I have an inflatable 2 person kayak and my dog and I go out on a solo camping adventures all the time together!! Nothing like being out in the woods with your best furry friend
You are so brave. Learned from you.
A very nice tour. Thank you for filming this for us.
I appreciate this glimpse into your adventurous mystery..🤗
Just found your videos… those skillets are aweful…. Thanks for sharing your adventures and food preparation
Wow. That scenery is spectacular. We have nothing like that here in the u.k. Love the camp setup. Happy belated Birthday. Paul. 👍
Very cool that you started fishing! Looking forward to seeing a catch and cook.
Love your adventure and your very simple delivery.
A paddle-board is likely the worst method of traveling by water for camping get aways.
A canoe or kayak(harder with a pup) allows you to haul more gear, is a safer mode of transport and covers far more territory.
What a great film job and an excellent adventure loaded with fun adventures!! Good one I like it !
Solo overlanding is a personal pilgrimage, and this video is the roadmap. From the quiet contemplation of solo camping to the exhilaration of the open road - a soloist's symphony.
I saw the dog with a vest in the thumbnail and had to watch. You know a video with that is going to be great.
I Wish i was 27 again, Thank you for the great vid! Stay safe girl!
Life with a dog is so rewarding.

Awesome video! It is cool that you were able to get away from everybody! It looked like you had the whole lake to yourself.
I have that same tent, love it! I actually use it on my yearly hunting trip, was all about camo & stealthy tents but in my old age and busted back from 8 years in the Marine Corps, I have become a fan of ultra light stuff now.
The bald eagle was sitting there waiting for a snack but you have to catch it first . Lovely video !
Enjoyed watching you have an adventure. Simple and fun. Thanks
