Thank you so much! I started teaching myself hiragana/Katakana while in quarantine and I would really love to be able to speak Japanese one day because, to visit Japan has always been one of my Life's dream. Hope it sismt too late.
Thank you for this video! I've been teaching myself for 2 years now, but I gave up almost 6 months ago just because I got busy and burned out. This is the motivation I needed! どもありがとうございます!
My three reasons for learning Japanese: - Anime without subtitles - Learn a new language and acquire knowledge (which is always good 😉) - Traveling (someday) to Japan
I'm Chinese, I've been studying Chinese for about 11 years now (I'm 16). One trick I learned to practice Chinese or Kanji is to just write them as small as possible. You're so focused on trying to write them that you end up focusing on each and every stroke. Use this trick if you want to practice or when you want to improve your handwriting. :)
I like your last name!! Also, I write pretty small already and look forward to learning Kanji later on after I master Hirigana and Katakana >,< I just got to stay committed to do so.
@@soyal__exome4157 Good luck! Also, people sometimes confuse my last name sometimes lol. One time a Japanese person told me that my name meant "lotus(?)" and it took me a while to know they were talking about.
@@soyal__exome4157 I've only really attended weekly Chinese classes so I'm too familiar with other programs. I guess you could try things like Duolingo or watch RUclips videos. For beginners, the hardest thing to learn I think is the basic characters and radicals. They're some of the most important things to focus on first, even knowing a few can help you learn a lot faster. As for grammar and pronunciation, read some books or essays written by Chinese students. Listen to music, watch TV shows and films (I tell myself to do this more but I keep getting distracted by anime lol). This probably doesn't exactly answer your question but it's more about how you're learning rather than where you're learning.
My reason for learning Japanese is because 10 years ago, I had a childhood friend who was a Japanese. We used to hangout a lot, until she returned back to Japan. Though she spoke perfect english, I still wish to communicate with her in Japanese. It's been 2 years since I've started learning, and I still haven't told her yet. We've kept in touch through out the years, and I'm travelling to Japan hopefully next year to meet her. I'm still at N2 level, but I hope to reach N1 before this year ends Update: My flight is on June, quite nervous now Update 2: We met last monday and had lunch. She was so suprised I ordered in Japanese, and kept asking me when did I start learning, even both her parents praised me to how good my Japanese was. She was sobbing in the restaurant when I told her I learned Japanese for her, and said it was the sweetest thing someome did for her. Update 3: We're dating now! Well, I haven't replied to this tread for quite a long time now. But I moved to Japan, and are living together with her. Its been a ride learning Japanese, to everyone who is learning. Keep on going! Thank you for replying, I forgot about this post Also, English isn't my first language so sorry for the grammad error 😅
to be real.. this is one of the better "how i study japanese" videos. it's hella budgeted and anyone with a phone and some paper could do these. really helpfull... and radwimps are fire!
Hello mak! Thank you so much for watching and supporting. I am so glad you find these tips helpful. Best of luck on your studying journey! And yes, Radwimps are fire! Haha. Stay safe always!
Try your local library! Maybe I am lucky because I live in Chicago. The downtown library has like 7 floors. And they have many books for learning Japanese. Hopefully your library does too.
my reason for learning 日本語 are •my goal is to learn 8 different languages •visit my good friend in japan and surprise her with how much i’ve learned☺️ •be more culturally diverse •AND BECAUSE IMA WEEB 😂
8 languages that’s a lot. I‘m only speaking two fluently studying one for 2 years now and studying japanese and Dutch for a few months. But 8?! Well good luck
Actually, going from Chinese to Japanese might be good! You know the characters in Chinese right? Kanji is like Hiragana and Katakana with Chinese characters! Like you do know “yi” right? (One in Chinese) So in Japanese one is “ichi”. Then in kanji, you can use the same character of yi, for ichi!
learning japanese as a chinese is a sort of upperhand, you can make good use of it (especially if you have the drive to learn japanese), even if you are uninterested its fine, just learn whatever piques your interest i guess also, im a chinese as well haha
Reasons I wanna learn Japanese -There’s a 75% chance I’ll move to Japan when I’m old enough :) So I’m just now finishing out about the government in Japan. Thank for those who informed me. I probably won’t be going unless my family decides.
Yall lets be honest that we dont just learn Japanese so that we could use it when we travel to Japan but instead we want to use it to confuse the heck of our relatives, fams, or friends and have that devilish smile after XD
I think it's because these people are more confident in their learning of japanese than your regular person that only uses duolingo or only has JPLT N5. Learning the characters is already halfway through learning the language when it comes to those that don't use italic letters.
It's brought up so often because, most of the time, it's the absolute best option. Being around the language that you're trying to learn helps you make more connections to how tone changes the meanings of the words. It forces you to pay attention and familiarize yourself more
Those reiterating that it’s the best option from an educational standpoint, looking at it in a vacuum, and mischaracterizing her actual comment, you’re avoiding her whole point.
Reasons I wanna learn Japanese. -Anime -anime -more anime Actually Yes but no -I wanna learn it so i can flex how many languages I speak. I currently know 3 languages -I wanna listen to Japanese songs -The writing is so cool 😎
So much on the anime, I just started but it's entirely Anime-Driven. Now I can put all those hours to good use! If only I watched that many spanish shows...
reasons i wanna learn japanese: - it's a mandatory school subject... - for translating stuff, mostly music - i surprisingly have quite a lot of japanese/half-japanese relatives, talking to them in japanese would be pretty cool - so i can talk shit lmao
me wanting to learn Korean and Japanese but also ended up being lazy ㅜㅜ but thank you for this, now i want to stop myself for being lazy to learn the things i want.
Thank you for your comment! Means a lot to me! ❤️ I had a mindset when I first set foot to Japan that I will pass N4 on July 2019 and then pass N3 on December 2019. It was stressful at that time since I was juggling work and study but it was definitely worth it. ☺️ Anyway, best of luck on your studying journey! Stay safe always!

I would really recommend learning how to write in Japanese. Once you’ve memorized the symbols, studying gets easier and it’s really, really fun to write ^ - ^ Edit: I know it isn’t necessary… I just find that it has helped me because I’m a sensory learner. Do what works best for you!

The main reasons I want to learn japanese - it's a hecka cute language (in my opinion) - so I can yell at people and they dont understand me - so I can flex ●~● - anime bois - I just overall really like japanese culture:)
Ay man if your learning japanese, personally I use this method called the mass immersion approach created by this guy on youtube called MattvsJapan. He has really helped me in drastically improving my japanese really efficiently and this might be helpful for you too.
Reasons I want to learn Japanese: 1. I’m trying to learn more languages so I can travel after the virus is gone 2. I want to be able to understand Japanese songs 3. It’s something to do during my free time 4. I want to move to Japan in the future
@@Rabarbaraaa it is a reason but not as important to me than the rest of them :) plus I’m more used to dub since I usually do something else while watching anime
My reason to learn Nihongo * TO TRAVEL IN TOKYO SOMEDAY * GET A JOB IN JAPAN SOMEDAY *TO WATCH ANIME WITHOUT SUB * TO STUDY AND LEARN TO DRAW TO BECOME A MANGA ARTIST
If u wanna draw ani.e and manga personally I think you should do your fav anime and manga ad well as 90s anime such as dbz or sailor moon The drawings are cute and are not very hard compared to the extremely detailed stuff
I really want to learn Japanese to just grow my knowledge and make me feel like I'm accomplishing something as well as indulging my interest in another culture and a new world. I know Arabic since I'm born in the middle east. So I thought that going on a journey to be multilingual might be nice as well. I'm just 14 but I do want to learn a lot and I'm interested in languages.

after drilling through Hiragana and Katakana, I'm beginning Kanji now, and I really have no idea what I'm doing!! I really have no idea where to start, but I'm grateful for encountering this video, it was a surge of motivation lol
Hello alyanna! I just recently read your comment. Thank you so much for watching and supporting! 🤗 It’s really hard dealing with Kanji for the first time. What I did was start with the Kanji’s from the JLPT N5 level. Now I’m studying Kanji’s from both N3 and N2 level. Best of luck on your studying journey. Hope this helps! Stay safe always. ❤️
I suggest starting by learning radicals. Wanikani has a pretty solid method and the first 4 levels are free without about ~100 kanji. It gives you a really good method you can use even if you can’t pay for the rest of the levels, so I think it’s worth a try
Thank you so much for this! I've been studying for about half a year now and I was wondering what more I could be doing to improve. My studying routine is very similar to yours, so I felt very reassured! Plus you showed me some new methods to try too! I'll make sure to keep studying every day. Thanks again!
@@diavens Well I've certainly fallen off of my studying since commenting on this video, but I've learned most of the basics. Hiragana, Katakana, and some vocab/grammar. But I'm slowly getting back into my routine, and that's gonna focus on Kanji!

I wanted to learn japanese so I could watch anime without subtitles, and sing some japanese songs that make me happy, thank you for encouraging me again!
It’s not really impossible, just incredibly difficult and not a good idea because you could mix things up between the languages. Here's a nice article on it: www.brainscape.com/academy/learn-two-languages-at-once/ Edit: Some people don't seem to realize that learning multiple languages as a child is far easier and much more achievable than learning multiple languages as an adult. If you learned multiple languages as a child, it's a different story.
Reason I want to learn Japanese - just because learning a language seems fun -To impress my friend and family -to visit Japan one day -every time I watch an anime that is in sub I don’t have to look at the caption

Excellent video! Many thanks to the author of the channel for the recommendations! The problem with many people is that they want to take a "magic pill" or get "secret knowledge" and immediately have skills and abilities. However, the truth of life is that knowledge, skills, and abilities do not come by themselves. You can't learn a foreign language without doing anything, without wasting your time and effort, just like you can't learn to ride a bike lying on a comfy couch, listening to lectures and watching videos about "modern methods of learning" on a bike. To really learn something, you have to really practice every day. You're going to fall down while you're learning, and you're going to get bumps - that's normal! The ups and downs of learning are an integral part of our lives. Motivation from success and depression from failure will always be your study companions. However, every student has problems in his or her studies that he or she lacks the knowledge to solve. It can be: poor memorization of words; no progress in language learning; the student can speak, but does not understand speech by ear; misunderstanding of grammar; incorrect pronunciation, etc. Agree that a problem you don't know how to solve is very demotivating. In order to find the answer to our question we have to spend a lot of time to read videos, articles and books by polyglots. In today's world, we have to solve problems as quickly as possible. I don't have time to study and analyze a huge amount of information. My goal is to master the basic knowledge of a foreign language as quickly as possible and already start earning money effectively in the international arena. I settled on the practical guide by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot's Notes: practical tips for learning foreign language". This book is always in my bag. If I have a problem while learning a language, I quickly find the answer in this book. There are many different techniques and tips for learning a foreign language in Polyglot Notes. I have made my own individual schedule and plan for language learning. Now I know what I am going to study, how I am going to study, when I am going to study and what results I am going to achieve. No problem could stop me! With an effective language learning plan my professional skills are more and more in demand internationally every day. Friends, don't stop there! Everyone has talents that millions of people around the world need! Learn the language and make your ideas and dreams come true! Thanks to the author of the channel for the informative and useful video! Your videos motivate me.

@@petrichorrs This is 3 weeks old so you might have found out out already but incase you haven't... こんにちは derives from 今日は 。今(こん)日(にち)は(助詞 particle). My reasons to learn Japanese are as follows: *Learning languages has become important to me 'cus it helps you understand more about yourself and who you truly are. *Japanese culture is quite interesting and I really enjoy watching anime and movies in Japanese (Always with subtitles). *Japanese is totally different from my mother tongue (Spanish), so it becomes not only a challenge, but also a motivation for me to undestand how languages are learnt if you put effort into it. *I want to demostrante to my future students that you can learn anything if you are willing to do it. And more importantly, I wanna learn Japanese using a variety of tools and in different ways to use them in my future practices, so my students will never get bored at all hahahahaaha. Have a beautiful 2021 and enjoy the little things. And always remember... Practice makes Perfect

We've kept in touch through out the years, and I'm travelling to Japan hopefully next year to meet her. I'm still at N2 level, but I hope to reach N1 before this year ends
Update: My flight is on June, quite nervous now
Update 2: We met last monday and had lunch.
Thank you for replying, I forgot about this post
Also, English isn't my first language so sorry for the grammad error 😅
That’s an amazing reason. Honestly just reading this made my day, I wish you the best!

The fact I’m already studying Mandarin Chinese: *are you sure you want to confuse yourself*
Opposite for me, I’m learning Japanese but I’ve started to want to learn Mandarin Chinese 🥲...
Actually, going from Chinese to Japanese might be good! You know the characters in Chinese right? Kanji is like Hiragana and Katakana with Chinese characters! Like you do know “yi” right? (One in Chinese) So in Japanese one is “ichi”. Then in kanji, you can use the same character of yi, for ichi!
learning japanese as a chinese is a sort of upperhand, you can make good use of it (especially if you have the drive to learn japanese), even if you are uninterested its fine, just learn whatever piques your interest i guess

Step 1 for every video ive ever seen when someone is learning Japanese: Go to Japan, or live in Japan. Ah yes. Money I never possess
It forces you to pay attention and familiarize yourself more
Yeahhh practice writing a page of Japanese a day and watch Japanese childrens learning shows on RUclips helps me a lot

Your videos motivate me.

hiii, i just wanted to let you know that “konichiwa” is actually spelled こんにちは i was surprised when i learned this because it’s “ha” instead of “wa” but pronounced as “wa”. i hope this doesn’t come off in a condescending way, i just wanted to let you know :)
Oh yeaa! I remember learning that and getting quite confused 😞
oh yea that it's because "は" can be pronounced both ha/wa right?
when i learned it that confused me 😭
its just a particle, it says that whatever is before me is the topic of the sentence/phrase, its also the most common particle
@@petrichorrs This is 3 weeks old so you might have found out out already but incase you haven't... こんにちは derives from 今日は 。今(こん)日(にち)は(助詞 particle). I don't know why the spelling changed but this is why it's spelt the way it is, because は kept its spelling as a particle. However there are a few native japanese that spell it like こんにちわ
Will things be easier after I memorize hirigana and katakana
Hello! Yes, studying Japanese will be easier if you memorize Hiragana and Katakana. Learning Japanese through Romaji or Roman character will mess up the pronunciation. 😅 Best of luck in your studying journey. Let me know if you have other questions. ☺️
I'd have to agree on this one. For one thing, you won't mess up the pronunciation. Properly pronouncing the words is a big step in the right direction.
me: already dominate hiragana and katakana in one day, the rest will be simple!
Kanji: 草

Ay man if your learning japanese, personally I use this method called the mass immersion approach created by this guy on youtube called MattvsJapan. He has really helped me in drastically improving my japanese really efficiently and this might be helpful for you too.

AHH Im getting overwhelmed!! I'm trying to improve on my drawing while also focusing on my studies cause I'm dumb and also sometimes learning new things about english-
*It's okay I'll get through it :D*
I really liked what you've made for all of us. I must admit that my notes and notebooks are way too simple compare to yours hahahhaa...
This 2021 I decided to learn Japanese apart from the one I'm already studying, which is English. I'm currently studying English pedagogy (this is my 4th year).
My reasons to learn Japanese are as follows:
*Learning languages has become important to me 'cus it helps you understand more about yourself and who you truly are.
Well put 888888
im really grateful to those whos learning japanese i hope many people can continue to love Japan and Japanese culture etc!
