Check this out. For those who are on a BUDGET and would like to boost your 2jz GE read this. So basically you can do this for 1600 bucks easy. Here are the following parts you will need. Cxracing Intercooler kit Cxracing 2jz GE NA-T kit Boost/AFR/Oil temp gauges 5 PSI wastegate Spring You have 2 options drill and tap the oil pan on the block and or drill and weld a 10AN Steel Bung adapter to the lower oil pan (I currently am running a 10AN steel bung on my oil pan and it feeds oil to the turbo just fine. This option is cheaper) And that's it! You can run everything without touching the ECU or the rods. The ECU will take up to 6 PSI and that's it if you go over you will fuck up your engine and lean it out and begin to experience fuel cuts! So a good 5 psi spring is safe and you will be able to run the car as usual and the 2jz will be woken! Happy Boosting!
@@tagallstar yessir. And if you have any questions feel free to ask me! Also the stock internals are good till up till 350 hp. And the transmission is a a650e which can also be upgraded to handle over 600hp with a nickel and dime mod.
@@tagallstar no sir. Everything is stock and runs absolutely perfect. I didn't have to touch anything besides the oil pan. And bolting up the kits and Changing the waste gate spring. Also did the boost AFR and oil temp gauge.
I believe I read from some guys off the Club Lexus forum's that you can find GTE rods in some Ge motors.. I have to go back and find the forum but I believe it was from the years 99-02 you can find thicker rods in them.
Although the older non-vvti blocks were better for boosting. As these 2jz cars are taken off the road, a lot of these motor will have to end up somewhere. I like to imagine they all get rebuilt for boost.
On my 2jz-ge, I had new timing belt, seals, and anything that spins replaced on the front of the motor. If I’m not so bad to it, it could probably last a long time without needing one! I’m in the middle of building my first motor as well. to build a subaru motor that came naturally aspirated sohc and that’s going to be more spec’d with machining of the cylinders with a nice hone, forged rods and forged lower compression pistons, an sti nitrided crank and a super damper and arp head studs. hoping to make 300hp! aluminum blocks are a pain!!!
The weak point of the 2jz is if you put anything that’s not distilled water and the oem red toyota coolant, it will start pitting and rusting inside and possibly overheating.
I'm hoping to get a mk4 RHD Supra GE auto as a daily in a year or two. Wanna get it up to 350 but there's barely any info since everyone hates GEs. Good video
Faaaacts bro and niiiice choice, every one bashes it but if u want to build a 2jz just get a ge, all 2jz’s accept the same rods, pistons and cams, vvti or non-vvti respectively. Or you could simply get a non-vvti motor (has same rods as the gte but different pistons) from the 90’s lexus 2j cars and swap the vvti head on it and boom 700hp capable motor
I have a 1992 sc300 2jzge that over heated due to my thermostat and bad radiator... will be pulling it out and getting my head resurfaced also going na-t any info would be great 👍
*It's crazy that this video was only a year ago, and GTE's were 3k. Now they are up to 8k! And that makes people run to buy up all the GE's, that why I have 3 2nd gen gs300's cars, and 2 extra motors* 😂😂😂
So, If i get a 2jz GE, and i rebuild it(change the internals), is it going to be as good as a gte? I want to swap a 2jz into a bmw e36 or e46, I know the 2jz GTE can be plugged with the BMW zf transmission. Can I plug the GE with the same gearbox? Or even a cd009 from Nissan. Thanks.
Cosmin Ioaniţescu yes it’ll be exactly as strong and power as the gte if u change the internals. Also the gte and ge have the same block so it’ll work with the transmission swap kits
question. could i run a stock 2j ge vvti with a ebay front facing manifold. drill the oil feed and return. but use the stock 2jz gte twin turbos for around 400hp? would i need standalone ecu? or the gte ecu? will they fit normally? or would i need a adapter?
Its very possible, I believe you’d have to use to gte ecu or a standalone and theres a guy on RUclips that makes a gte twin turbo exhaust manifold for the ge
I’ve got a Toyota soarer/Sc300 99 with a 2jz ge vvti was wondering if I could turbo it looking for only 300 hp as it’s my daily also what would be the breaking point I shouldn’t go pass don’t think vvti likes being boosted to much but if u can let me know would appreciate it
YaBoiiz27 you definitely can just gotta get all the turbo goodies or turbo kit and put it together. You can safely run up to 450hp and the ge will run it all day
TAGallStar Ok and this is with a stock transmission it won’t blow it at 300 hp ? was planning on getting the cxracing turbo kit as that’s the only one I’m able to find talk about a limited path to do stuff to 2j ge vvti still love it tho made great engines to last and got a bit of power stock it’s impressive
To this day i do not understand when people say GTE is better than GE :/ I believe that you can get the GE exactly like GTE of course without oil squiters.. (who needs oils squirters xD?)
Exactly, if you’re going to build the motor or swap might as well use a GE. You’re going to mess with the engine or turn up the boost anyway and its more cost effective

Bongo is a Pyro niiiiiice yo fr thanks for the help I’ll definitely be trying this soon. But first i gotta figure out my trans issue. U got Instagram
All people I know love the 2JZ. I haven’t had much oportunity. But I love my 3SGE BEAMS. Same HP but 2.0 lt 6speed.
uneekkid11 i want to try the beams, my get another is300 and beam swap it.

The non vvti variants had the same bottom end components as the gte minus the oil squirters. The non vvti inspired the build of the gte

Thats a super good point, you’re right, eventually any JZ would need to be rebuilt for power or even simply reliability

I bought a 2JZGE vvti for 575 one year ago, today that engine is twice the price.
Yep I got mine for $350 the inflation is ridiculous
End of the day a 2J is a 2J! I just copped a set of used oem GTE rods+pistons for 50$! slap a GTE head gasket and your pretty much good for 600+
Pho TWENTY hell yeah i got some 7mgte rods I’m going to put in my original motor. I can’t wait but i might try to boost the jz in my car too
@@tagallstar 7mgte rods are longer 5.980" vs 2jz rods 5.590" so that wont work...
Timothy Rodriguez thanks brotha I wasn’t sure if I should use them bc I didn’t know it’s dimensions for sure. I’ll most likely get eagle rods
TAGallStar I would recommend maxpeedingrods can’t beat them for the price. I’d say they’re on par with eagle at about half the cost.
Timothy Rodriguez fr ive seen r they really that good hmmmm
Dope video. Keep them coming!
Thanks fam 🙏🏾
I know a guy who did a 3.2 stroker with itbs on his ge sure was expensive but went very well
I bet it sounded amazing but itb setups on this engine cost sooo much
That was well done bro
Thank you 🙏🏾
Great video, learned some new things, Thank-you!
Sam A thanks brotha
I appreciate the info. I found a GE for $250. I think I may pick it up and use GTE interchangeable parts for the rebuild.
Yessir sounds like a plan and a budget friendly build
Solid video bruh. Definitely going to stay tapped in. I’m getting ready to boost my GE with some CX Racing kit
Niiiice bro and appreciate it. Hit me up on IG and show me your build

This video was very helpful
Thanks for the depth, saw a gte for sale n wanted to price match between the ge!
No problem bro just wanted to shed some light to give ppl a better idea of what their options are with the 2jz family
Can a gte head fit on a 2jzge vvti block
Chovo Cha it sure can. It bolts right up
Chovo Cha even the gte valve covers bolts straight up to the ge head
Oh ok
I love Toyota

If you have a 2jzge 92-97 the rods and pistons do not need to be changed . You will only need arp head studs and a 2jzgte head gasket
Spline85 i see you channel and build. Niiiiice bro subbbed🔥🔥
What are the screws coming out of the exhaust sidenof the head im forgetting rn

No its definitely not necessary but some ppl do it for what ever reason.
I’d like to safely run around 300 whp. Can I turbo my GE vvti with an automatic transmission? Would it be too much for the transmission?
It should be pretty reliable with that setup, imma be doing a turbo setup to run 350-400hp with auto trans and put the lexus to the test pretty soon
