    Qidi has just clarified that the X-Plus 3 that I reviewed in this video is version 1 that can have quite some issues as you have probably seen in other reviews. I was lucky so far and nothing happened with my printer yet.
    Qidi has stopped selling this version and they will release a version 2 of this printer very soon that won´t have the same issues and hopefully work much better and more reliable. Qidi will send me the second version of this printer and I will do a full review of it as soon as the machine has arrived.

      Looks like the new version is out now with the majority of the issues fixed. And they changed to a new slicer based on Prusa Slicer.

    I was really looking forward to the Gen 3 of the X-Plus printer. I have the Gen 1 and Gen 2.
    Sadly this one was a disaster. It would not hold z hight and I had constant issues with it.
    In they end they made it right and refunded my cost.

    I just installed the qidi slicer and tried out some models for slicing. It works perfectly fine and fluent on my pc, so i cannot complain. I have ordered the X-MAX 3.
    My PC is 6 years old but has a new RTX4080 Graficcard and 64Gb Ram.

      Interesting. Cura, Prusa slicer, and Bambu Studio are running fine on my PC. Only the Qidi slicer is slow as hell.
      But good for you! Happy printing with your new X-max 3!

      @@Craftknights3D Its a bad habit to compensate bad slow software with better hardware. Hardware from China is mostly pretty good but i have similar problems with snapmaker luban, which is terribly bad software, too.
      But you can use other software and just transfer the settings to it. So why not directly use the good slicers ? Maybe all customers are doing it automatically and thats why nobody complains anyway.

    Even if they failed. I give them a ton of credit for taking a shot at real innovation. Not like the blatant IP theft creality has done

    Actually as it's using klipper, I wonder if there is an easy way to add an ercf to do multi material.
    While of course the Bambu printers have an advantage with the automatic cutter in the printhead and the poo-ejection, and also the spool rewinding on filament unload is definitly quite nice, the AMS isn't the only way to do filament changes.
    On the other hand the AMS itself actually does not seem very complicated. The main element seem to be the filament buffer, detecting if the printhead needs filament or if the filament pushes the filament back (unloading it). For each spool there is a feeder in the AMS and a motor to roll the spools backwards to rewind filament. Does not sound to complicated. As the Bambu filament buffer is available as spare part, I actualy think to buy one just to analyse its function. For spool autorewind there are even full mechanical solutions. If I understand correctly, with the filament buffer giving signals for the AMS and also buffering a bit of filament (as the name suggest), the feeder in the AMS stays attached (unlike the ERCF or the MMU2, they are only attached when filament is loaded/unloaded but not while printing). It shouldn't be to hard to make an arduino based control just for the AMS (maybe a new use for old creality boards?). Actually an Arduino could easy control all this without even needing any comunication with the printer. If unload is detected (due to pushing filament back into the buffer for a certain time > than on retractions), rewind the filament back to the spool (sensor directly behind feeder to stop rewinding, so it can be load again). Than insert next filament and tell the printer to load and continue. I do not think the Qidi has autoload feature, but if I remeber correctly, gcode allows wait for pin states, so if there is a free I/O this should be easy.
    Comunicating wich filament to load next you could also use free IOs on the printers board if available. Or filter the gcode for the T0...T3 commands and create a seperate file to control your diy ams controler.
    This is only the basic functionality (theoreticly working with any fdm printer, independend of the firmware). The more complex part would be error detection and handling...
    Also you have to tune the ramping profiles for every filament, to get the perfect tip on unloading for later reloading, as you do not a cut inside the printhead.

    Im pretty interested in this printer but QIDI stopped selling X plus 3 cause of problems with z offset, after a few hours printing in heated chamber.. Im interested in how long it will take until you will run into this kind of problem as well..

      That's interesting. I have been printing for about 100 hours with this machine and had no issues so far. But after reading your comment I watched a few other reviews and it seems they got a slightly different printer with different accessoires (1kg Filament and pliers that I didn't have). So maybe they released a new version of the printer? I have also seen a more recent review with simmilar experiences to mine. I will let you know when the printer behaves weiredly.

      @ImMahOrigin Год назад

      K1 is great for the price alongside the P1P. Only real differences between the two is that the K1 has a built in enclosure while the p1p needs it purchased and installed separately. And the build plate of the p1p is a bit bigger. Both are phenomenal out of the box printers though so you really can’t go wrong with either. Obviously there are more differences, but those are the main ones that stuck out to me since I wanted the bigger plate, so I went p1p.

      Mine died after test print.
      As in power supply looks like it got zapped. I had it set on 115v and had it on a surge protector.
      While I was setting it up the print head collided twice with the platform after having started the bed at lowest position. Then the head got stuck in its starting position. (Front left)
      I asked for a refund and ill send it back and they basically told me Im stuck with it. If they dont adequately solve the power supply issue Ill be asking my bank for a charge back.
      This was in addition to the z offset issue.

    • @ChrumkavySuchar
      @ChrumkavySuchar Год назад

      @@Craftknights3D there are issues when you using the heated chamber unit. Are you using it ? When used, as bottom of the printer is notsupported with anything, it expand/retract during heating, and whole bed then moves up or down. If you press bottom of the printer under the bed, and you can actually press it + whole bed will move with it, that is where the issue comes from.
      Also, the BL sensor is going crazy when the chamber is heated, and it just doesn't know where it is.
