Great review and like you said when a company listens and then comes back with a better built unit they deserve much respect. As for that filament spool being placed in the rear that's a killer. But you placing it in that Eibos filament dryer was a great alternate solution. Happy printing.

Wonderful, informative, well done review! Credit where credit is due, you truthfully and appropriately thrashed the defective version, QIDI improved it vastly (by the way, the metal rods instead of carbon fiber is a MASSIVE improvement, look it up for why) and sent you the fixed version to test again! I've had a QIDI iFast for many years, their customer service and periodic improvements are outstanding to the point of being nearly unparalleled. By the way, Ross, the main problem crippling the almost-superior Anycubic M5S is a DEFECTIVE LIGHT SOURCE. If they fix only that, the M5S will be one of the best consumer printers out there for many good reasons. Edited to add: Also, the M5S with a 4-screw adjustable plate fixes any first layer problems.
Well, that's useful - I've just bought a P1S because my Neptune 4 broke its extruder and I'm _still_ waiting for Elegoo to accept that (they keep insisting it's an electronics problem and sending me pointless component replacements). While I'm generally happy with the operation of the P1S, it's got a few annoyances that would be solved by _not_ having a closed ecosystem; Klipper is the one advantage the Neptune 4 had over the P1S. QIDI Tech have just gone from being "meh, low-quality generic crap" to "genuine contender", so next time I'm in the market for a printer...they're going to be up there on the list. Great video!
I've bought the qidi xplus 1 xmax 1 xplus 2 and now the xmax 3 and will stand behind their customer service. You have a problem and they fix it, no bs, no fees, no shipping charges etc.
i have 2 X-MAX 3 i print PAHT-CF, TPU95, PET-CF, PET-GA and PLA all qidi filament and these just always work really a great printing company beign overshadowed
Good on them as a company. Honestly. I love seeing companies take feedback seriously and try to make it up to the first backers, reviewers, and just the community as a whole. If more did this -we'd have less crappy clones and much better hardware all around.
Following up with my last comment, I ended up buying the Max 3 and I couldn't be happier honestly. It just works beautifully, is sooo fast, and has just been a dream thus far. Highly recommend. I'm considering getting rid of my Ender-5 S1 and replacing it with a second Qidi X-Max 3. Absolutely love the size/volume too.
Lots of PLA filaments fail by becoming brittle over time and this concerns me with this style of printer filament holder to hotend path. The older filament doesn't break straight away as it comes off the reel. It takes up to an hour of being straightened before it snaps. We have seen this behaviour on many filament brands. As you print, this isn't an issue as it moves through the tube quick enough but after the print concludes, it breaks into sections within the tube as it sits there. Clearing all of the broken bits in the tube becomes a real hassle as you can't just print hoping the filament will push the broken parts through it as each broken end bit curls and jams occur in the tube. The filament handling (especially mounting the reel on the back of a very heavy printer) seems to be an after thought. Many people are moving the filament holder to the side or top, but that just increases the length of the delivery tube as the runout sensor is still on the back. I have two of these printers arriving soon and am already thinking about how to move the filament holder, the runout sensor and the usb plug to around or near the front.
I agree it is a fine printer and were Bamboo's multi colour/material features not available then I would be pulling the trigger on this, however, I am not buying an AMS equipped Bamboo Lab printer because I am hoping that Bamboo Lab will release a toolchanger printer to compete with the XL. I was thinking the other day how awesome twin AMS units would be with an IDEX printer as this could reduce the wastage of multi colour prints.
The best review ever seen, above all for the honesty in describing the real problems found in this printer which at first glance really seems like a very valid competitor of Bambu Labs, but which reviewers often do not specify fully. I discovered this printer and for 700 euros it seems really impressive, above all the seriousness of the manufacturing company is important, ready to correct defects and malfunctions. The fact that they replaced the slicer with a customized version of Prusa Slicer (I have been using it for some time and consider it the best ABSOLUTE) demonstrates a truly rare attention towards the end customer, congratulations for the way of reviewing, I hope it will always be like this. Registration successful.
Still using the first version of this printer and I haven't really had any of the known issues with it. Flexing due to heat has never caused my z offset to change and first layers always go down smooth. During one of the earlier updates the printer completely bricked itself to the point that the EMMC being replaced wouldn't even fix it. Got the latest version of the motherboard instlled today and it's working perfectly. Also for anyone who has one of these give Orca Slicer a try - it's basically Bambu Slicer which is basically Prusa Slicer but the configuration for the Qidi printers is built right in.
I have an x-plus 2 and I'm really impressed by qidi support. They even provided an stl to print a cooling fan for my high temp hotend. So I dont have to remove it from the regular one when i switch hotends.

Mine came in yesterday, and I've thrown some test prints at it and compared to my Lulzbot Taz5 from 2014, and this has been a very pleasant experience. I didn't get reasonable prints off my Taz5 until I threw out the factory hotend and extruder (almost a year after purchase). It feels much better today, getting a printer that can be as close to plug-and-play as you can get in this hobby. Great update.
I also have a TAZ6, actually 2 of them. I now use 2 different nozzles but I do, periodically use the original BUT I rebuilt it to TAZ 8 architecture. I build a E3D toolhead so I can use 1.75mm filament with a .4mm nozzle. And I built a great toolhead for very quick prototypes, a 1.2mm nozzle using the 2.85mm filament a MoarStruder. It's a really cool toolhead and on parts that require no real definition it's awesome. I also run it at 140% speed so it's not all that slow. I use CURA not the Lulzbot version of CURA. I keep the CURA print speed at 50mm/s but on the LULZBOT LCD I change the speed, after the first layer, to 140%. You do have to adjust E-steps and calculate them so you have to make sure you do that and I have to do it for each of the 3 different toolheads so I right them down. If you screw that up you can cause a filament jam and these toolheads are a bit of a pain to clear the jams, heatgun is ABSOLUTELY needed. My best machine, and I have 10, if the Luluzbot but I do not have, yet, any Bambu, Ankermaker, or QIDI. If I get one of them I will have to watch multiple comparative reviews. This review was excellent. By the way, 7 of my 10 printers I got on eBay "as is, for parts only". I fixed them all. The 2 TAZ 5s I got, wow, the previous owners misaligned the frames, miswired them so the fans didn't work and the z and y rails moved together, the supports for the rails were installed incorrectly, what a mess. One of them took me 10hrs to fix but both now work great. I did replace the PEI on one with a flexible bed, the other I retained the PEI.
I can agree with you! I have mind since around a week now and already played around with the settings a bit. What I found out was that they set their extrusion multiplier to 95% instead of 100%, which made my prints better! And don‘t hesitate too adjust your pressure advance and smoothing time to lower levels. At these high speeds their preset smoothing time has to be shorter and their pa-value can be calibrated using some online research.
Good review and worth considering. One thing that bothers me for every electronic device I have has the power switch on the front. I noticed the power switch with the X plus 3 is on the back. They need to put it on the front or someone needs to do a DIY fix to remotely locate the power switch on the front. thanks for posting

Would you compare this to the K1 or K1 Max? The build late is in the middle of the two, but the specs seem amazing - heated chamber, included dehumidifier, which feels like it’d be super useful for flex PLA or similar, and £150 cheaper than the K1 Max.
I have had my Bambu Lab P1P for a little over a year and a half and it's given me zero problems. Absolutely none. I can slice a file, send it, and forget about it. But, given I haven't gotten around to enclosing my P1p, some filaments are more challenging to print with....and these are the filaments I use the most (PC, ABS, PA-12CF) So,after a lot of consideration I bought an X-Plus 3 about a month ago. I am starting to have buyers remorse. I'm having stock Creality 3 flashbacks on a regular basis. I forgot what a pain it was to use a little piece of paper to set the Z height and have to set the bed on a regular basis. If I had to do it again I wouldn't buy it. I'd either deal with the snails pace or my MakerBot Method or start saving for the new X1 with the heated chamber!
@@MrBiggs-wu2kf honestly, I think the Bambu Lab will give you better all around finished prints. I do a lot of printing with PC and I really appreciate the heated chamber on the X-PLUS 3, it makes it a little easier to print PC, ABS/ ASA, and Polypropylene, but I can also get quality prints with those filaments on my P1P. I've had my P1P for 18 months now and my X-Plus 3 for about 6, and while I like the Qidi I really wish I would have gotten a second Bambu Lab instead. It just makes it easy to get good prints
Great video- thanks for pointing out the how the spool is loaded. I think this will make it a pass for me. Aside from that, it is great for the 3D printing community when a manufacturer takes criticism and adjusts.
Printing speed isnt just how fast the hotend can move around, it is also how fast it can melt plastic. How strong the extruder is and how well it can deal with back pressure. Would be good to see how fast it can do a benchmark print like the benchy
Huge freaking probs to qiditech... Taking it off sale.. fix it . And relaunch . Thats a big example for most companies.. Also carbon to hardened steel is good! U lose a LITTLE speed, but u get a big bump in reliability and can probably even replace bearings on it!
@@MrBiggs-wu2kf Yes still strange things...might be because of updated firmware. My printer got clogged now and I bought new extruder...stil same result. Printing in PLA and the only solution was to increase temp 210 to 240 degrees. And that's make me wonder if the firmware use wrong temperature. I tried different brand of filament and stil same result

What is the part availability like in the UK for Qidi products ? I have a older Qidi Xplus which has most proprietary parts zero parts are available here in Australia - paying air freight shipping from china adds up Seems Qidi have now removed the support information for the older models from their web page ?
I give them the respect for being the only company outside of stratasys and MakerBot using a fundamental technology that's been known since I think the early 90a but their extruders still suck almost as much h as their name. I supposed they were build in the qidi-pa-town.
I have had my X-Plus 3 for six weeks now, after giving away my older X Plus. I'm now wishing I had kept the older model. Issues with my X-Plus 3 are numerous, reliability and print quality being the top issues. Also, after homing the system and I jog the table to the top, the "ZERO" position is actually about 1.5mm from the nozzle tip. Sometimes, when I jog it to the top, the Z axis will shut off when it's within 10mm, which results in the table drifting to the bottom. Other issues, NO fail-safe sensors to stop a inaccurately homed table from crashing into the nozzle or into the frame at the bottom. To top it off, there is virtually no documentation beyond a very basic quick start guide. Finally, the older X Plus made noticeably better parts. If all you are going to make are low resolution parts (over .2mm per layer) then you might be okay with this machine. I have YET to make a .16mm layer part that isn't a huge FAIL! And this is from PLA. I'm not even going to try it with ABS or something else. IMO, the firmware on this machine needs work. When selecting parts to make from their thumb drive, the user interface NEVER displays the part on the first try. I have to make multiple tries (as in over 5 tries) before the user interface will display the part. Update: I HATE this piece of crap! My two year old X Plus was slower but at least it WORKED. I loaded their new firmware (per their suggestion), and it now causes the extruder assy to crash into the finished part, with the last crash resulting in the extruder cover being knocked off. There are only two possibilities, either their firmware is crap or their slicer is crap. This system is beta at best and should have never been released for sale.
huh, well good on them for pulling it, and released a fixed/updated one, sadly its price point puts it mostly out of my budget, but i'll keep an eye on qidi now, that kind of commitment to making things right is danged rare it feels like, these days
Its price point is actually pretty reasonable, if you compare it against the machines they're marketing it against, like the Bambu, Prusa or Creality K1 series. I get it that its currently out of your budget, but it's sort of akin to someone driving a Ford saying the BMW is out of their budget... you're not their target market.

as there is no direct sales by bambu in my country, official retailer sells p1p in 800$..I would rather take this , as it's price are same or lower than P1P including tax, import.. etc.

Looks cheap, but all of the specs way above K1, just missing camera. But focusing on industrial/business printing that can’t be exposed to the cloud, bigger print volume, hotter nozzle, hotter bed, and heated chamber. Market is slowly getting saturated and good for everyone.
@@RathOX its closed source, but hey did you see majority of useless upgrades in k1 majority are useless and then if its usefull its a mod that fixes manufacturers errors, i have k1 and max both have terrible engineering solutions in good few places, and if you go by facebook groups there are alot more whining in creality k1 groups than p1/ x1c groups…..

Much like with the Creality K1, I don't get the whole thing with putting the filament on the back. Who doesn't put their 3D printers with the back towards the wall? I guess if you have your printers in a freestanding rack or on a table it might work, but as-is, that one particular aspect is really a deal breaker for me. Especially when you can get something like a Bambu Labs P1S with the AMS for a few hundred Euro more and have built-in multi-material printing, while loading all the filament spools easily accessible on the top.

On a old QidiTech X-Plus 3 review, thre was also a lot of mechanical problems under the Printer. everithing is hold by plastic , and screws are fixed only in a plastic I mean. normal is metal screw in metal tube and this is glued in plastik. On the old version it was metalscrew direct in plastik. and this hold not a long time. Is this now fixed?
My XPlus 3 arrived today so I can answer this for you. Aside from the outer shell plastic, everything in the base of the main box frame is now metal, and has an added thick metal bracing bar that runs left to right in the middle bottom of the frame. Basically it's a full metal frame internally with a plastic outer shell for the enclosure.
Can the printer actually last constantly printing at a 65C chamber temp? On the marketing they say 65C but then they seem to limit the temp in the slicer to 60C and they have a warning on the printer itself saying don't go beyond 50 or 55C
Well the other option is listening to me and staring at a blank screen. I don't have the setup or space for talking head moments, so until i do. this is what you'll get.
It's baffling why qidi clings on to an obsolete manual offset and probing system, when the rest of the competition has moved on to completely automatic nozzle probing - bambu, prusa, and even creality.

I bought one of the first ones. They sent parts from China to texas in 4 days, answered every question along with firmware and tech to troubleshoot shoot it, AND then sent me a new printer free of charge and let me keep the old one. I’ve bought new cars that sat in the shop for months, was given a sub par rental, and still didn’t get what I payed for. Qidi didn’t give me any run around or hassle. They were very honest and went beyond anything I could have asked for. They also gave refunds to people that wanted to move on. If anything maybe this has woke up some of the competition on how to handle warranties and claims. I would buy this printer again it’s so good.
If you're buying a Quidi over a P1P...I don't know what to tell you, I'm also sick of paying to be a Beta Tester for these companies...Well done to Qidi for finding out how to fix their own machine. Elegoo & Bambu Labs are just dominating with every machine they bring out ( Possibly Prusa with a pricing & logistics improvement) once Bambu Labs bring out X1E in the next few months, I don't think any of these copycats will have a hope in hell.
One rather obvious retort would be: "If you're okay with giving up privacy, control over intellectual property and compromising your network security just to be able to participate in a closed ecosystem, then I don't know what to tell you". Edit: Check out the Nathan Builds Robots video about this topic. At the end of the day, not everyone wants to agree to the BambuLabs ToS and it's good to have viable similarly performing alternatives.

@@stew675 Have you read prusa ToS or creality ToS, elegoo ToS or(..._you get the idea. Its a boilerplate TOS they ALL use. Prusa will keep your data for 10 years AND they will share it with 3rd parties. Are you ok with that? Use Prusa slicer/ Cura slic3r same deal. Lawyers write them up so they wont get sued and every company has similar wording so lets stop pretending bambu is doing something new or nefarious. NBR is a sensationalist and preys in low information folks. Go read the TOS yourself if you dont believe me. You can even do a quick search through the eula and tos for "third party", "data". NBR and 3dmusk does the same thing. You are just feeding their algo for clicks.

This is a nice video pointing out the several key improvements that make the current versions of the X-Plus 3 and its smaller and larger siblings very good printers and very reasonable prices. But how can someone be this into 3D printers and then "have no idea" why Qidi changed from carbon fiber to hollow steel rails??? Really? No idea at all? FH says he watched Clough42's review of the revised printers and certainly James (Clough42) made quite clear, as have most other reviewers that the change was made because the CF rods were critical wear items that could not be replaced. Even Qidi's marketing materials make clear the benefits of the hollow steel guide rods. I just don't get it...
I understand things to 100% or not at all. I don't get how carbon rods are irreplaceable yet steel is… I know this is the reason they were replaced, but other than quoting that same line, I don't get why carbon is irreplaceable. But honestly, I don't care enough to find out unless we see this more

Credit where credit is due, you truthfully and appropriately thrashed the defective version, QIDI improved it vastly (by the way, the metal rods instead of carbon fiber is a MASSIVE improvement, look it up for why) and sent you the fixed version to test again!
I've had a QIDI iFast for many years, their customer service and periodic improvements are outstanding to the point of being nearly unparalleled.
By the way, Ross, the main problem crippling the almost-superior Anycubic M5S is a DEFECTIVE LIGHT SOURCE. If they fix only that, the M5S will be one of the best consumer printers out there for many good reasons. Edited to add: Also, the M5S with a 4-screw adjustable plate fixes any first layer problems.
Well, that's useful - I've just bought a P1S because my Neptune 4 broke its extruder and I'm _still_ waiting for Elegoo to accept that (they keep insisting it's an electronics problem and sending me pointless component replacements). While I'm generally happy with the operation of the P1S, it's got a few annoyances that would be solved by _not_ having a closed ecosystem; Klipper is the one advantage the Neptune 4 had over the P1S.
QIDI Tech have just gone from being "meh, low-quality generic crap" to "genuine contender", so next time I'm in the market for a printer...they're going to be up there on the list. Great video!
I've bought the qidi xplus 1 xmax 1 xplus 2 and now the xmax 3 and will stand behind their customer service. You have a problem and they fix it, no bs, no fees, no shipping charges etc.
i have 2 X-MAX 3 i print PAHT-CF, TPU95, PET-CF, PET-GA
and PLA all qidi filament and these just always work really a great printing company beign overshadowed
agreed, so many companies are selling shit printers off their popular brand name, and here we have an amazing printer that is completely unknown.
Good on them as a company. Honestly. I love seeing companies take feedback seriously and try to make it up to the first backers, reviewers, and just the community as a whole. If more did this -we'd have less crappy clones and much better hardware all around.

Following up with my last comment, I ended up buying the Max 3 and I couldn't be happier honestly. It just works beautifully, is sooo fast, and has just been a dream thus far. Highly recommend. I'm considering getting rid of my Ender-5 S1 and replacing it with a second Qidi X-Max 3. Absolutely love the size/volume too.
Lots of PLA filaments fail by becoming brittle over time and this concerns me with this style of printer filament holder to hotend path. The older filament doesn't break straight away as it comes off the reel. It takes up to an hour of being straightened before it snaps. We have seen this behaviour on many filament brands. As you print, this isn't an issue as it moves through the tube quick enough but after the print concludes, it breaks into sections within the tube as it sits there. Clearing all of the broken bits in the tube becomes a real hassle as you can't just print hoping the filament will push the broken parts through it as each broken end bit curls and jams occur in the tube.
The filament handling (especially mounting the reel on the back of a very heavy printer) seems to be an after thought. Many people are moving the filament holder to the side or top, but that just increases the length of the delivery tube as the runout sensor is still on the back. I have two of these printers arriving soon and am already thinking about how to move the filament holder, the runout sensor and the usb plug to around or near the front.
I agree it is a fine printer and were Bamboo's multi colour/material features not available then I would be pulling the trigger on this, however, I am not buying an AMS equipped Bamboo Lab printer because I am hoping that Bamboo Lab will release a toolchanger printer to compete with the XL.
I was thinking the other day how awesome twin AMS units would be with an IDEX printer as this could reduce the wastage of multi colour prints.
You print with ASA or ABS and use Acetone smoothing with a 0.12 layer height and you will get prints every bit as smooth as resin.
Their current printer lineup seems awesome. The X-Smart3 being only $300 for the features is crazy! Totally slept on.

The best review ever seen, above all for the honesty in describing the real problems found in this printer which at first glance really seems like a very valid competitor of Bambu Labs, but which reviewers often do not specify fully. I discovered this printer and for 700 euros it seems really impressive, above all the seriousness of the manufacturing company is important, ready to correct defects and malfunctions. The fact that they replaced the slicer with a customized version of Prusa Slicer (I have been using it for some time and consider it the best ABSOLUTE) demonstrates a truly rare attention towards the end customer, congratulations for the way of reviewing, I hope it will always be like this. Registration successful.
Still using the first version of this printer and I haven't really had any of the known issues with it. Flexing due to heat has never caused my z offset to change and first layers always go down smooth.
During one of the earlier updates the printer completely bricked itself to the point that the EMMC being replaced wouldn't even fix it. Got the latest version of the motherboard instlled today and it's working perfectly. Also for anyone who has one of these give Orca Slicer a try - it's basically Bambu Slicer which is basically Prusa Slicer but the configuration for the Qidi printers is built right in.

I have an x-plus 2 and I'm really impressed by qidi support. They even provided an stl to print a cooling fan for my high temp hotend. So I dont have to remove it from the regular one when i switch hotends.

Mine came in yesterday, and I've thrown some test prints at it and compared to my Lulzbot Taz5 from 2014, and this has been a very pleasant experience. I didn't get reasonable prints off my Taz5 until I threw out the factory hotend and extruder (almost a year after purchase). It feels much better today, getting a printer that can be as close to plug-and-play as you can get in this hobby. Great update.

I also have a TAZ6, actually 2 of them. I now use 2 different nozzles but I do, periodically use the original BUT I rebuilt it to TAZ 8 architecture. I build a E3D toolhead so I can use 1.75mm filament with a .4mm nozzle. And I built a great toolhead for very quick prototypes, a 1.2mm nozzle using the 2.85mm filament a MoarStruder. It's a really cool toolhead and on parts that require no real definition it's awesome. I also run it at 140% speed so it's not all that slow. I use CURA not the Lulzbot version of CURA. I keep the CURA print speed at 50mm/s but on the LULZBOT LCD I change the speed, after the first layer, to 140%. You do have to adjust E-steps and calculate them so you have to make sure you do that and I have to do it for each of the 3 different toolheads so I right them down. If you screw that up you can cause a filament jam and these toolheads are a bit of a pain to clear the jams, heatgun is ABSOLUTELY needed. My best machine, and I have 10, if the Luluzbot but I do not have, yet, any Bambu, Ankermaker, or QIDI. If I get one of them I will have to watch multiple comparative reviews. This review was excellent. By the way, 7 of my 10 printers I got on eBay "as is, for parts only". I fixed them all. The 2 TAZ 5s I got, wow, the previous owners misaligned the frames, miswired them so the fans didn't work and the z and y rails moved together, the supports for the rails were installed incorrectly, what a mess. One of them took me 10hrs to fix but both now work great. I did replace the PEI on one with a flexible bed, the other I retained the PEI.
I can agree with you! I have mind since around a week now and already played around with the settings a bit. What I found out was that they set their extrusion multiplier to 95% instead of 100%, which made my prints better! And don‘t hesitate too adjust your pressure advance and smoothing time to lower levels. At these high speeds their preset smoothing time has to be shorter and their pa-value can be calibrated using some online research.
Good review and worth considering. One thing that bothers me for every electronic device I have has the power switch on the front. I noticed the power switch with the X plus 3 is on the back. They need to put it on the front or someone needs to do a DIY fix to remotely locate the power switch on the front. thanks for posting

Would you compare this to the K1 or K1 Max? The build late is in the middle of the two, but the specs seem amazing - heated chamber, included dehumidifier, which feels like it’d be super useful for flex PLA or similar, and £150 cheaper than the K1 Max.
I got mine a few days ago. It's been running non stop since. Printing a Mecha King Kong at 200%. Cause I can. lol.
I have had my Bambu Lab P1P for a little over a year and a half and it's given me zero problems. Absolutely none. I can slice a file, send it, and forget about it.
But, given I haven't gotten around to enclosing my P1p, some filaments are more challenging to print with....and these are the filaments I use the most (PC, ABS, PA-12CF) So,after a lot of consideration I bought an X-Plus 3 about a month ago. I am starting to have buyers remorse. I'm having stock Creality 3 flashbacks on a regular basis. I forgot what a pain it was to use a little piece of paper to set the Z height and have to set the bed on a regular basis. If I had to do it again I wouldn't buy it. I'd either deal with the snails pace or my MakerBot Method or start saving for the new X1 with the heated chamber!
Im considering the P1P or the X-Plus 3. Other than the setting the Z height, what printer gives the best detail in the finished prints?
@@MrBiggs-wu2kf honestly, I think the Bambu Lab will give you better all around finished prints. I do a lot of printing with PC and I really appreciate the heated chamber on the X-PLUS 3, it makes it a little easier to print PC, ABS/ ASA, and Polypropylene, but I can also get quality prints with those filaments on my P1P.
I've had my P1P for 18 months now and my X-Plus 3 for about 6, and while I like the Qidi I really wish I would have gotten a second Bambu Lab instead. It just makes it easy to get good prints
Great video- thanks for pointing out the how the spool is loaded. I think this will make it a pass for me. Aside from that, it is great for the 3D printing community when a manufacturer takes criticism and adjusts.
Printing speed isnt just how fast the hotend can move around, it is also how fast it can melt plastic. How strong the extruder is and how well it can deal with back pressure. Would be good to see how fast it can do a benchmark print like the benchy
Huge freaking probs to qiditech... Taking it off sale.. fix it . And relaunch . Thats a big example for most companies..
Also carbon to hardened steel is good! U lose a LITTLE speed, but u get a big bump in reliability and can probably even replace bearings on it!

@@MrBiggs-wu2kf Yes still strange things...might be because of updated firmware. My printer got clogged now and I bought new extruder...stil same result. Printing in PLA and the only solution was to increase temp 210 to 240 degrees. And that's make me wonder if the firmware use wrong temperature. I tried different brand of filament and stil same result

I give them the respect for being the only company outside of stratasys and MakerBot using a fundamental technology that's been known since I think the early 90a but their extruders still suck almost as much h as their name. I supposed they were build in the qidi-pa-town.

I have had my X-Plus 3 for six weeks now, after giving away my older X Plus. I'm now wishing I had kept the older model. Issues with my X-Plus 3 are numerous, reliability and print quality being the top issues. Also, after homing the system and I jog the table to the top, the "ZERO" position is actually about 1.5mm from the nozzle tip. Sometimes, when I jog it to the top, the Z axis will shut off when it's within 10mm, which results in the table drifting to the bottom. Other issues, NO fail-safe sensors to stop a inaccurately homed table from crashing into the nozzle or into the frame at the bottom. To top it off, there is virtually no documentation beyond a very basic quick start guide. Finally, the older X Plus made noticeably better parts.
If all you are going to make are low resolution parts (over .2mm per layer) then you might be okay with this machine. I have YET to make a .16mm layer part that isn't a huge FAIL! And this is from PLA. I'm not even going to try it with ABS or something else. IMO, the firmware on this machine needs work. When selecting parts to make from their thumb drive, the user interface NEVER displays the part on the first try. I have to make multiple tries (as in over 5 tries) before the user interface will display the part.
Update: I HATE this piece of crap! My two year old X Plus was slower but at least it WORKED. I loaded their new firmware (per their suggestion), and it now causes the extruder assy to crash into the finished part, with the last crash resulting in the extruder cover being knocked off. There are only two possibilities, either their firmware is crap or their slicer is crap.
This system is beta at best and should have never been released for sale.

Its price point is actually pretty reasonable, if you compare it against the machines they're marketing it against, like the Bambu, Prusa or Creality K1 series. I get it that its currently out of your budget, but it's sort of akin to someone driving a Ford saying the BMW is out of their budget... you're not their target market.

Looks cheap, but all of the specs way above K1, just missing camera. But focusing on industrial/business printing that can’t be exposed to the cloud, bigger print volume, hotter nozzle, hotter bed, and heated chamber. Market is slowly getting saturated and good for everyone.

@@RathOX its closed source, but hey did you see majority of useless upgrades in k1 majority are useless and then if its usefull its a mod that fixes manufacturers errors, i have k1 and max both have terrible engineering solutions in good few places, and if you go by facebook groups there are alot more whining in creality k1 groups than p1/ x1c groups…..

Much like with the Creality K1, I don't get the whole thing with putting the filament on the back. Who doesn't put their 3D printers with the back towards the wall? I guess if you have your printers in a freestanding rack or on a table it might work, but as-is, that one particular aspect is really a deal breaker for me. Especially when you can get something like a Bambu Labs P1S with the AMS for a few hundred Euro more and have built-in multi-material printing, while loading all the filament spools easily accessible on the top.

Thx for this nice and informativ video. Im on the way to buy this one or a Creality K1. On a old QidiTech X-Plus 3 review, thre was also a lot of mechanical problems under the Printer. everithing is hold by plastic , and screws are fixed only in a plastic I mean. normal is metal screw in metal tube and this is glued in plastik. On the old version it was metalscrew direct in plastik. and this hold not a long time. Is this now fixed?
My XPlus 3 arrived today so I can answer this for you. Aside from the outer shell plastic, everything in the base of the main box frame is now metal, and has an added thick metal bracing bar that runs left to right in the middle bottom of the frame.
Basically it's a full metal frame internally with a plastic outer shell for the enclosure.
Can the printer actually last constantly printing at a 65C chamber temp? On the marketing they say 65C but then they seem to limit the temp in the slicer to 60C and they have a warning on the printer itself saying don't go beyond 50 or 55C
Honestly this machine has gotten progressively worse since I got it unfortunately where my P1S is still going strong

Well the other option is listening to me and staring at a blank screen. I don't have the setup or space for talking head moments, so until i do. this is what you'll get.
It's baffling why qidi clings on to an obsolete manual offset and probing system, when the rest of the competition has moved on to completely automatic nozzle probing - bambu, prusa, and even creality.

A bit crap if you actually bought one of those original machines.
They took them off sale whilst on preorder, I don't think any got shipped.
I bought one of the first ones. They sent parts from China to texas in 4 days, answered every question along with firmware and tech to troubleshoot shoot it, AND then sent me a new printer free of charge and let me keep the old one.
I’ve bought new cars that sat in the shop for months, was given a sub par rental, and still didn’t get what I payed for. Qidi didn’t give me any run around or hassle. They were very honest and went beyond anything I could have asked for. They also gave refunds to people that wanted to move on. If anything maybe this has woke up some of the competition on how to handle warranties and claims. I would buy this printer again it’s so good.

If you're buying a Quidi over a P1P...I don't know what to tell you, I'm also sick of paying to be a Beta Tester for these companies...Well done to Qidi for finding out how to fix their own machine. Elegoo & Bambu Labs are just dominating with every machine they bring out ( Possibly Prusa with a pricing & logistics improvement) once Bambu Labs bring out X1E in the next few months, I don't think any of these copycats will have a hope in hell.
One rather obvious retort would be: "If you're okay with giving up privacy, control over intellectual property and compromising your network security just to be able to participate in a closed ecosystem, then I don't know what to tell you".
Edit: Check out the Nathan Builds Robots video about this topic. At the end of the day, not everyone wants to agree to the BambuLabs ToS and it's good to have viable similarly performing alternatives.

I like the Qidi's, even if there were problems at the beginning. Especially since Qidi offers an extremely competent and reliable service that many manufacturers can learn from. My mistake!

It's got a full metal frame, this is just the housing.
This is like a tank, 24 kg vs 14 kg (bambu X1C). You want the weight in the frame, not glas doors and panels like other brands.
This is a nice video pointing out the several key improvements that make the current versions of the X-Plus 3 and its smaller and larger siblings very good printers and very reasonable prices. But how can someone be this into 3D printers and then "have no idea" why Qidi changed from carbon fiber to hollow steel rails??? Really? No idea at all? FH says he watched Clough42's review of the revised printers and certainly James (Clough42) made quite clear, as have most other reviewers that the change was made because the CF rods were critical wear items that could not be replaced. Even Qidi's marketing materials make clear the benefits of the hollow steel guide rods. I just don't get it...
