I headcanon this as this is the formative event of S.H.I.E.L.D.
One, if there is another high profile kidnapping to respond quicker, two, to learn the proper use of the AGM 88 HARM.
I can't imagine sitting in a room of experts in their field, you're the final decision, and 16 people given you 7 different perspectives (all valid) and they look to you for a decision that rests all on your shoulders, regardless of the outcome.
Also worth taking into account that Walken himself stated that this is the exact sort of situation that started World War I. He is well aware any decision he makes could spark a chain reaction that leads to a catastrophic loss of life.

One of the best lines from this storyline is Walkern asking about the frat boys playing chicken with the US airforce, and responding I don’t care if my mothers on that plane going to visit her mother….

Charlie knew he was trash, and no one listened. He got Zoey kidnapped

Same, this big time fan still feels unrewarded.
That little bastard should have gotten a lifetime ban from ever setting foot inside United States territory for that. He almost literally kicked off a goddamned war just to slip his girlfriend a spiked drink. That is astronomical stupidity.
I hope you add more videos and organize more playlists so some of these excellent snippets can be watched in a semblance of a story arc. Writing like this is so rare these days. Doing a playlist of long walk and talks would be fun.

AGM-88s are anti-radar missiles. My guess is they meant to say AGM-65s or the AGM-84H.
Hollywood has a habit of using the wrong military equipment.
It is a frequent trick of writers to get something wrong, so that nothing can be used by actual “bad guys”.

I hated how Abby and Liz both blamed Jed for Zoey's kidnapping. At least the unfavourite daughter Ellie stuck with him. Blame lies with the freaking kidnappers. I would have liked to see Jed call Abby out for that.
You don't understand grief and panic if you think Abby needs to be called out for having a reaction
@@curtismurphy6206 Rewatch the show. Abby went beyond an initial reaction, she was still blaming Jed even after Zoey's rescue. She even moved out and took Zoey with her. She abandoned her husband, and didn't come back until the shutdown episode. Some wife she was. Of course the whole thing was just handwaved away.
I see you don't have many women in your life (not saying that as a dig, but rather a compliment). The majority of women are evil. Don't ever forget that. They would be more willing to forgive their own rapist, than you for killing him.
I blame it on the writing of season 5. I don’t think Sorkin would have written it like that. He just dropped the abduction plot line in the writer’s laps and left. On Abbey reaction, no Jed didn’t intend for his daughter to get abducted when they shot down Shareef. He would have never have done it if that was the case. I think it was reasonable for Abbey to be angry with me but I don’t think it was fair the way she handled it. Jed was suffering too. I would have loved to have seen the scene in between the Shutdown episode and the Christmas one to see how they fought and reconciled.
Completely understandable. She found out about about the Sharif assassination, which was the provocation for Zoe's kidnapping. She disapproved of the assassination, and she was horrified that it happened without her knowledge. Of course she blamed Jed.
Not surprising but John Goodman was fantastic as Speaker/President Walken.
Using an AGM-88 HARM makes no sense.

They really should put this show on Prime Time and every streaming network. Have people watch this show, then justify the current Administration. Bartlet instead of Biden. CJ instead of KJP. Fitz instead of Austin. And let's not over look the straight forward US first approach Walken took as the CiC. Very Trump-esque
Walken would loathe Trump.
