There IS such language as Indonesian. That's the what State Dept diplomats study at FSI before posted to Indonesia. Bambang is Javanese name, waaay far from Batak. AND, nobody speaks Portugeese in Indonesia. Also, to think that a president visits the White House without anybody from their embassy speaking a simple language as English is really bizzare. Whenever I feel inspired to defend S5-7, which isn’t that hard to do, I always maintain that Sorkin would’ve never shaken up his dynamic of Donna working for Josh. It was a much more interesting dynamic once Donna broke away from Josh’s desk and it required him to view her as an equal to him.

It always bugged the shit out of me that when Donna walked into the Santos campaign room, that Josh didn't hire her on the spot. She's absolutely right -- she spent five years going to Lyman University with post-graduate work at the University of Bailey. She had far better experience in WWS7 than Josh did in WWS1.

The more I rewatch the west wing, the more I found the character incredibely naive and arrogant. They think they are tolerant and progressive, but really they aren't. They are snoby, irrespectfull and convince of their own righteousness. They believe they are right and so the game they play is justified. The game in and on itself is destroying their democracy.

As someone who was able to get military honors for my dad when he died, this episode hit super hard. We ask so much from our military and always brag about how good they are, but when it comes to taking care of them, we do a really bad job. We need to do better.

The fact that Donna realized how terribly Josh treated her all these years and still got together with him in the end is a fucking tragedy. That conversation in the hotel room should have been the end of it.

How we long for an administration who cares for what is right and honest. That's in the wind for now.

I never watched the show so there's that, but I did work as an EA. I didn't like the secretary's smug attitude here toward the president. The best assistants aren't like that.

The growth of Donna from Assistant to Chief of Staff to the First Lady was one of the best of the show. And the emd of this clip may be the fiest time Josh realized exactly how capable she was.

Josh certainly didn't expect Donna to be so insightful. Probably why she was one of my favorite characters on the show.

As someone pointed out in another upload of this clip, the whole premise in the opening section is wrong. There is a native Indonesian language, it's called Bahasa. Every single Indonesian learns it from birth and is fluent in it. Doesn't matter if they are Javanese or from any other part of Indonesia. Mr Menaldi is correct in stating how many languages and variants there are in Indonesia, but the idea that 2 Indonesians from different parts of the country couldn't have a conversation is incorrect.
