22:48 I recently learned that this actress also was in Wicked the musical. So now I can't help but think that she's about to do the song Popular, especially given this context :D
It’s not the handover that worries me. Aggressive violence as a means of retaining power is about 160 years out of style with the democratic party. What worries me is the President-elect’s self-aggrandizement writ large. But, if this excellent show taught us anything is that the President is only as great as his staff. Tulsi Gabbard, Kristi Noem, Matt Gaetz, RFK Jr., Steven Cheung, Steven Miller, and Pete Hegseth just to name a few? Susan Wiles was the only sensible choice so far as well as Marco Rubio as Sec. State. He’s our President right or wrong and to suggest otherwise is a very un-American thing to do. But, would we ever expect a vegetarian to do well as the CEO of JBS S.A.? It’s no wonder the President-elect’s whole theme is executive power, privilege, and immunity. The joke and the threat of it is that he isn’t half as brilliant or nuanced as he pretends and believes himself to be. Yet, as inheritors of the rights and privileges that have been fought for by our ascendants we, as a people, will foot the bill socially, morally, and economically. Let us not forget that the moral arc of the Universe is long but, it bends towards justice. I hope.
That "three boxes" "change the conversation" thing is a big part of why Kamala Harris lost the presidential election. Sometimes you've got to address the other team's boxes.
The administrative cost of Medicare doesn't take into account the fact that they don't need to actually take in any money. The IRS does that with a budget of ~ $13 billion a year. Also, they don't tell you that a lot of plans that are "Medicare" are actually run by private insurance companies, so those costs are off the books. It's a bait and switch argument and a bit disingenuous.
Yeah, Medicare was a better program and a better law before the Part C law passed that created Medicare Advantage, giving insurance a foot in the door that they quickly kicked down in the name of increased profits by denying claims for the elderly, not just the young and disabled.
@greybirdo You can say the same thing about Republicans. Neither party, not one politician has a corner on honesty, morality, or any virtue, for that matter. Washington is populated with sharks out for themselves.
He was pardoned. That was literally the last official action Jed Bartlett did before leaving office. That's what CJ Craig's smile is about in her last scene of this edit.
Donna and Josh was the slowest burn I have ever witnessed on TV... And you could see it from season 2 onwards too.... I wanted to follow them through the halls singing: Donna and Josh, sitting in a tree... K. I. S. S. I. N. G.
The Bartlett Whitehouse really did everything they could to screw over Santos during the campaign. They couldn't handle him being the future of the party.
Say what you want about the debate but Santos got the healthcare system with Obamacare and the end result was exactly like Vinick predicted. Massive raise in taxes on those who can not afford more taxes and hardly anyone benefited. Millions still screwed while paying even more taxes. Well the health insurance folks did benefit. They were made billions of dollars richer thanks to this "great first step towards universal healthcare".
They never should have written a story arc where Toby required a pardon. Total BS. Toby's disagreements with Bartlet were always private, no way does Toby ever betray Bartlet with a public disclosure of TS information.
Toby didn’t need a pardon because Toby didn’t break the law. Toby was never officially briefed about the secret space shuttle. He heard about it when his (now deceased) brother told him. His brother, an astronaut, broke the law by telling him. I used to have a security clearance (nothing too exciting, just minor engineering stuff). We were trained by DOJ attorneys about protecting classified material and potential criminal actions. Anything you are officially briefed on or overhear in the break room, etc is covered. Something you hear from a high school buddy that you didn’t hear officially can’t be prosecuted.
The Oliver Babish character in the show was pure brilliance.
If you haven't already, check out the actor's other works, including A Time to Kill
I still see Porthos.
They should've had a lot more Babish on this show, he steals the scene every time he shows up
I just noticed that the newscaster at 4:50 managed to make an appearance throughout most of the show. Good for the actor.

I know it's tv, but here we are 2024, same issues, same arguments, and same pay checks to the same people for the same thing, nothing.
Poor Leo with his smirk. LoL.
"You want to lose those clear to the knuckle?" might have been my favorite line.
Amazing how unsecure the Chief of Staffs office is.
This show makes one yern for more from reality
Ong bro, fuck Dementia Don
yet all we get is reality TV now with Trump back in office oh I yern for the day we as a nation put brains before bronze
Every show should, instead Americans can only make braindead garbage for TV nowadays
wow I can't belive they got illinois governor JB Pritzker in the west wing
I felt a tear erupt on the handover of office… bringing into stark contrast the events about to unfold in 2025.

Thank the Lord that Harris didn't win. She's a disgusting individual.
You'll get over it ....... TRUMP 24 💯💪💪
@@esousa486 Well at least Trump can't run again since he would have served 2 terms.
@daviddempsey8721 Are there actually people stupid enough to have wanted Kamala? 😂
The last scene that never occurred in 2020.

A real president
Unfortunately, fictional.

The prospect of the self-righteous Toby going to jail for 5+ years makes my day.
