*"How can you shoot like that?"* *"They give us lessons."* Mark Harmon seems to have a real knack for playing guys like that. In that I mean he doesn't play them as tight-asses, or humorless robots, or paid zealots whose primary qualifications are a fanatical devotion to orders and a willingness to use violence. Guys like that are, in many ways, like anyone else. Regular people with personalities, intelligence, and wit who were lucky enough to find their calling, and develop a career they are passionate about. Much like CJ, and most everyone else on Bartlett staff who (like real-life White House functionaries) left their job as a lawyer in some powerful white-shoe corporate law firm or lobbying group, or doing PR work at a high-flying ad agency, and took a massive pay cut to take on the demanding and thankless job of serving the President. It just so happens that Harmon's a character has chosen a profession that requires him to be extremely smart, extremely disciplined, and extremely lethal. That, and he has enough dedication to the job that if he can't stop someone as they try to kill the person they're protecting, they'll step in the path of the bullet. I do find it a bit odd that CJ comes off as being utterly flabbergasted that a veteran Secret Service agent with the goods to get assigned to the Presidential detail is handy with a gun. You don't need to move in those circles to know that a guy like that doesn't get that kind of job because he's lucky, or because he "knows someone," or won a bar bet or something. Take another look at that scene. Around the two minute mark, you can see that he has skin tone ear plugs in. Can’t see hers as her ears are covered by her hair.
A PUA could have a field day pointing out all the flirting and tension going on. But most guys will go on about the guns in this scene :)
Commenting one someone’s height isn’t saying “something nice” about them. It’s just a physical characteristic that makes her feel better. If there was a swimming pool nearby C.J. would have fell in it again.
Practice makes improvement!
Yes. One of the smallest spots on the show. Ranks next to the late Matt Perry for impact. I got misty when Donavan got shot. Crime oh boy! I don’t know. Jeez Governor, no wonder Jed kicked your arse.
