Regardless of how you feel about this episode, Richard Schiff is an A class actor. Absolutely phenomenal job here
Both of them. Amazing acting.
Still is. Catch him in The Good Doctor.
There is an episode from The Good Doctor- where Richard’s character is hallucinating after brain surgery and is having a conversation with his daughter who died many years before. Both Richard and Holly Taylor are phenomenal - absolutely worth watching even if you don’t watch that show. It’s called “36 Hours” - episode 3 of season 2.
@@michaelmuldowney8 I'm not a fan of the show but I love Schiff, so I've actually fast forwarded through episodes just to get to his parts lol! I watched that episode in its entirety and yes, they were absolutely wonderful.
Leo coming in later and telling him "Your brother had no more fight in him. You still do." was epic.
This could be real life - but these are actors - acting out a scene on a show..... just remarkable
I think real life discussions would be a lot more boring - and have worse lighting
And the writing was tremendous!
In those moments, the only thing you want is to not feel the way you do.
This is such a classy show. The actors, the script, the acting. Everyone on top of their game
SUCH sensational acting.
I always loved working with smart people. It was always fun
Toby really spiraled in the last couple of seasons. His brother committed suicide and he gets fired (and nearly tossed in prison) for the whole shuttle debacle.
You could really smell the writers didn't know what they were cooking
The sadness and the emotional breakdown actually is a very very interesting storyline. It does explain everything that happens and how he ends up betraying Bartlett. I wish this could have been explored more
@@derrickstorm6976 Or they knew exactly what they were doing. Life never goes how you planned, it's random, unfair and cruel sometimes and there's nothing that you can do about it except for the tiny little sliver you exert control over.
If that feels 'off' to you, its because it is likely too real for you and ruined your suspension of disbelief.
There was some method acting going on. Richard Schiff said on a podcast he was pretty disappointed with where they took that character.
In the real world someone like Toby would have left the administration. The last few Bartlet years were very pragmatic, they had to be. Someone like Toby wasn't going to get anything done in that environment.
What a beautiful performance.
She says do you want me to go? with tears dripping down her own face. That’s what friends are for.
Great scene.
:: Gets me every time. Richard Schiff is one of the most accomplished actors. ::
My God! How can anyone not like this show? CJ crying with him? Unbelievable! 😢
Ladies and gentlemen, the incomparable Richard Schiff.
(and yes, Allison Janney, ALWAYS Allison Janney, but Schiff just wrecked me with this scene.)
Also masterful performances from Bradley Whitford and John Spencer at the beginner--the shock that Leo put into the word "Tuesday" when he learns that Josh didn't know that David died; and Josh's distress that he didn't go to the funeral to support the friend who found him after he was shot at Rosslyn.
The best television show of all time.
now there is acting
Can we please see the scene when Kate Harper manages to stop a bunch of generals invading Canada for fun?
no, she was the worst -- it was her horrible advice that led to Leo getting fired and Jed not killing a terrorist
@@firstname4337 And she forced the president to take her advice?
It's always heartbreaking to go looking for reason and sense behind a fundamentally senseless and unreasonable act.
Why is this so much more professional than the real thing was from 1/21/17 to 1/21/21?
You know why.
Because those people have zero understanding of what is a soul, or human compassion, or just even basic human emotions.
Because these are people who are working for the people. Not venal minsters trying to rip off the country and destroy democracy.
The assassination of Toby Zeigler's character. Thank you, post-Sorkin West Wing.
This is fully believable, that a guy like Toby who believes in people being a force for good would not accept his brother killing himself when he had a chance at more life. Toby who never gave up on his beliefs for anything.
Horrible
The writing disservice that occurred against TZ the last couple of seasons was borderline malpractice
Can we upgrade to 60fps videos lol, we have the technology
No, it was filmed in 24 fps and should stay that way. Artificially making it 60 looks like shit
Toby was the most irritating character ever on television. That whispered mumble was like fingernails on a blackboard.
He was incredible
What about the actor’s later roles?
