It really was a terrible crime the things that were done to Sammy. The way he rose above it to become the phenomenon he did was testimony to not only his extraordinary plethora of talents but to his raw courage as well. Not to mention that he had the sheer guts to do it his way, despite criticism from both sides. No wonder he became so beloved.

@trishlangford5773 is right. Not only did Sammy have talent, courage, and guts, but he kept a warm and open heart. Sammy never became bitter or cold because of his horrible treatment. I don't think many of us could do the same.

His accident happened in 1955. Right after Dean died Brando said I smell death in the air. Luckily he survived and had a long and very successful career. Only they know if they were truly happy for we know that’s within. He sure brought happiness to a lot of folks and we know that for sure.

Davis was a victim of racism for sure but he was also a beneficiary of the changing times and it is well known that Frank Sinatra broke down many barriers that confronted Sammy and all black entertainers though even there....Sinatra crossed the line in the belief it was comedy and not racist jokes directed at him in Vegas during their Rat Pack days....
