One of my classmates smuggled a Richard Pryor tape into Spanish class and piped it to all the language lab headsets. I can still remember how puzzled the teacher looked when he saw all of us enjoying his normally terminally boring class. RIP Richard Pryor and Mr Wiley.
To think this man tried to commit suicide on June 1980, nearly died and in 18 months comes back onstage. He dominates the stage again, records a live album like he never left. That is a true survivor and someone with talent.
This concert, uncensored, is the funniest piece of comedy ever captured on tape. It will never be equaled and it will never be surpassed. It is perfect. Well done Mr Pryor.
My dad met this master of comedy at a hotel in Dallas back in the early 80s and he said this man was the coolest person on earth. As far as I’m concerned, he is a master of comedy.
Happy 80th Birthday Richard! I can't believe you would be 80 years old. You were the best of all the comedians of your generation! You told a lot of truths with all that laughter. Thank you!!!!!
A person who guided /pointed the way on so many levels. He was a great shaman and many missed out on his teaching. He made a different in my life. One of the biggest gift he left us with was being authentic.
Richard was suppose to be the law in the movie but he could straighten up for them to trust him carrying the role so don't know about him writing on it
Rodney Brumit + that's what I came to say. They played it too safe. Had he played the sheriff it would have been so much better. Can you imagine? Hollywood producers are stupid. I know that was a big disappointment for Richard.
Always have Cracked me up in all his movies. But I remember being young and ignorant unaware of stand up comedy. Richard Pryor was the greatest of all time. His humor transcended racial lines...one of the few good memories I had of my father was driving across the United States and listening to Richard Pryor tapes on his car stereo. He could talk about pimps, players, junkies, white folks, winos and even Dracula and UFOs...all funny, all truthful...Richard seemed to be loved by all...and there will never be another one. R.I.P. I'm in my addiction phase now and I'm aspiring comic, I'm so glad I found Paul Mooney and Richard Pryor before I even think about hitting sets
The Thing About Richard Pryor Is That He Found Humor In All The Misgivings In His Life And….He Shared Them With Anyone Who Cared To Listen, He Kept It “ Real. He Was Truly A Genius Who Didn’t Care How Anyone Judge Him, He Did It His Way Regardless Of the Circumstances. In My Book, That’s A True Soldier. For Real.

They would call Richard Pryor politically incorrect today. Some people get offended about things and do not know how to laugh freely anymore. Richard always gives me good chuckles about issues in life. You have to learn how to laugh at yourself, be silly, and make fun about situations.
Richard Pryor made fun of EVERYBODY, White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, he was not racist at all, and he was funny as hell. There will never be another like him. R.I.P. Richard Pryor.

The best at standup ever. Obviously many came before him, but no one before him will translate over to future comedians and comedy in general. Already 3 generations have gone by since he was in his hay day and a good percentage use something they seen him do. We are blessed to be able to pull these up whenever and had the opportunity to watch and hear him at his best. RESPECT
When I was a kid, my mom would play Mr. Pryor with her company came over. But we would be in bed so my mother thought lol....Mr. Pryor you will always be missed. RIP and mom love you always RIP my queen.
When you're one of the Gods of comedy, you can walk out on stage and say anything. It's weird how 1981 was the best year of my life, yet in Sir Pryor's life it was really low and dark. We're all crazy, comedians are just honest about it.
The most amazing thing about this performance was that it happened. Not because Richard was fortunate to have survived the injuries caused by his psychotic self-immolation in 1980, although that's true, too. No, the truly amazing thing was that Richard had tried & failed in his first attempt to do this show, apologizing to the audience before aborting it. To feel that type of acute embarrassment, then turn around and perform for the same audience and slay them, that's the measure of a master.
