The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast is a series of television specials hosted by entertainer Dean Martin and airing from 1974 to 1984. For a series of 54 specials and shows, Martin and his friends would "roast" a celebrity. The roasts were patterned after the roasts held at the New York Friars' Club.

Frank Sinatra (1915 - 1998) was an American singer, actor, and producer who was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide.
    #peterfalk #columbo #franksinatrapeterfalk
Dean Martin (1917 - 1995) was an American singer, actor, and comedian. One of the most popular and enduring American entertainers of the mid-20th century, Martin was nicknamed "The King of Cool." Martin gained his career breakthrough together with comedian Jerry Lewis, billed as Martin & Lewis, in 1946. They performed in nightclubs and later had numerous appearances on radio, television, and films. Following an acrimonious ending of the partnership in 1956, Martin pursued a solo career as a performer and actor. Martin established himself as a singer, recording numerous contemporary songs and standards from the Great American Songbook. He became one of the most popular acts in Las Vegas and was known for his friendship with fellow artists Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., who formed the Rat Pack. In 1965, Martin was the host of the television variety program The Dean Martin Show, which centered on Martin's singing and comedic talents and was characterized by his relaxed, easy-going demeanor. From 1974 to 1984, he was roastmaster on the famous Dean Martin Celebrity Roast, drawing celebrities, comedians, and politicians. Throughout his career, Martin performed in concert stages, nightclubs, audio recordings and appeared in 85 film and television productions. His most iconic songs include "Ain't That a Kick in the Head?", "Memories Are Made of This," "That's Amore," "Everybody Loves Somebody," "You're Nobody till Somebody Loves You," "Sway," and "Volare."
    #miltonberle #flipwilson #tellysavalas
Don Rickles (1926 - 2017) was an American stand-up comedian, actor, and author, known primarily for insult comedy. A headline performer at Las Vegas hotel-casinos and peripheral member of the Rat Pack via friendship with Frank Sinatra, Rickles received widespread exposure as a frequent guest on talk and variety shows, including The Dean Martin Show, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, and Late Show with David Letterman.
Peter Falk (1927 - 2011) was an American actor and comedian, known for his role as Lieutenant Columbo in the long-running television series Columbo (1968-2003), for which he won four Primetime Emmy Awards (1972, 1975, 1976, 1990) and a Golden Globe Award (1973). Falk was twice nominated for the Academy Award and won his first Emmy Award in 1962 for The Dick Powell Theatre. He was the first actor to be nominated for an Academy Award and an Emmy Award in the same year, achieving the feat twice (1961/62). He went on to appear in such films as It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), The Great Race (1965), Anzio (1968), Murder by Death (1976), The Cheap Detective (1978), The In-Laws (1979), The Princess Bride (1987), Wings of Desire (1987), The Player (1992), and Next (2007), as well as many television guest roles.

He was wanting to cut in front of me where the street was narrowing down for street repairs. So I waived him on to cut in front of me. If you have watched all of the roasts you’d have noticed that the banter was back and forth, not just toward black people, but also White, Hispanics, Asians etc. nobody was spared or offended. It was sense of humor. Nowadays, even being polite is offensive to some. Back then these shows made everyone laugh. Today people use these to divide others. Today, it’s a shame that humor, past and present, is used to separate us more…

This celebrity roast was a master class for expiring comedians. Most of today's comedians need to watch this and similar roastmasters to know that they do not have to make obscene gesters and spew vulgarity in order to get a laugh. All is needed for gut-busting laughter is a combination of comedic talent, quick wit, perfect timing, and a certain level of class. And surely, the comedians in this celebrity roast - most certainly and unequivocally - possessed those natural-born qualities, all in combination.

Received in my YT steam today..a year later. Today is political correctness, trigger warnings and cancel culture stifling jokes. Everyone is offended by everything, not much laughter and a whole lot of whinning. If we could turn back time I would for the generation of today, they are lost and confused no one seems to be of a working moral compass to guide their way. As depressing as my post sounds, it's even worse living amongst insane, entitled and disrespectful people who have no interest in becoming a contributing, America loving American citizen.
