Jane Doe, you are right. A Knight's honor to a Princess is not yet dead. Men don't stand, pull back the chair and seat their women. They don't open doors and the car door for a lady anymore. I told my granddaughter, if he doesn't do these things for you, loose him. She saw me do this for her grandmother. I followed through and watched. I did offer to coach him but she got it and said ,"Pappy, you are right, I'll loose him." Now he is gone. She is happily married to a man that that will open doors and tend to her needs and they have a baby on the way.

The Democratic Party handed her the nomination instead of the more popular candidate. To the team that shared this on youtube, a big BIG thank you! Its so enlightening to feel the way they did the same thing we are doing right now but with such style and class. While holding such a high level of class, style, decency (while saying even indecent things) and to pull off such a powerful humorous roast is just unthinkable today! For todays generation, me included, Its a must for indignified, low class crap to make us laugh that hard I thought. They showed us how wrong we are to think like that. That they can do that while holding their class and yet make us laugh till tears come out! It is possible! and they showed us that!!! And thats why i said thank you! , many of us would never have known if not for such videos here on youtube. Its all class! to the level of legends. I guess this is what made America great. I sort of get the feel now and i sort of can imagine the jawdropping depth and talent they had . Thanks Notorious Top Agency, we now know and can believe again! ...........and im not even from the usa.

America has always had a seedy underbelly and insane streak, which is part of our charm, but it probably shouldn't be the primary attribute. But the 70s were about as seedy a time as you can find in our storied history, so I think you might be using rose colored glasses...you gotta go a little farther back for "halfway sane and mostly decent"...and the argument could be made that the human psychology hardly permits the conditions you describe, at any point in human history. But I'd go early 60's and before to get an approximation. ;)
I will say that there is a level of class and style going on here that you'd be hard pressed to find these days. These people were the end of an era...one that had Frank Sinatra conducting. By some measure, Reagan was the last statesman.

There's a story comic and impersonator Rich Little told about being somewhere the same time Regan was there. The press was there and wanted to ask some questions, but Regan was running late. He told Rich, "You do a pretty good me, why don't you answer the questions?" Rich did, and Regan left. Of course, Rich was answering with jokes and satire of Regan. After a minute or so, he heard something behind him. He took a quick glance and saw Regan in a doorway listening and trying to stifle his laughs.

Phishean: So true! I lived in Sacramento when Reagan was Governor the first time, back when we were proud of California, which was once the 2nd richest State in the Union, the best in so many ways -- no more, now it's 10th or lower, their Governor, Jerry Brown, has ruined that Golden State, and so many of us who were native Californians have long ago moved away. Brown has and continues to queer any chances of that State being great again. The only wealth is in Hollywood and Silicon Valley, and the heads of those companies live in Seattle or Utah or Idaho -- NOT California, and many can work from home with all the latest advanced technology; you don't have to be "at the office" -- since your office is at home.
Anyway, movies in the theater will be a thing of the past in a few years, since most people will have theaters in their homes, IF they are interested in movies. They'll probably have 3-D, smell-vision, special effects you can see, hear, and feel all around you, that will probably take the place of movies and television as we know it today.
Even agricultural companies are giving up and some are moving to the fertile valleys of South Africa to raise their crops! Guess they'll take a chance on the hippos eating their crops and the elephants trampling them, rather than having them dry up and blow away! No, California is no longer the Golden State. Even smart Hollywood citizens (at least the older, smarter ones) are moving and making their primary home away from California and only come to CA if their movie is being made there.

Now this is just the funniest thing I have seen in years. When stars were real stars, politicians were not offended by any little thing. could never imagine Trump doing something like this. He will cry and walk off. Reagan just laughed all the way and to see Dean Martin in tears is awesome. Reagan gave as good as he got. Plus he also can take the piss out of himself and other politicians. God bless Reagan as he was a real man and great American. As to Dean Martin he was a true star, TV, singer, actor, movies, stage he was a grue great. This is when America was great and looking at these guys you can see why they made America great. Thanks for uploading this a real treat.

John Harvill: You mean they still HAVE those roasts? Well, I didn't know because I have no interest in Hollywood anymore. Those comics in Dino's time were superb, and they never said one dirty word at those roasts, and they were far funnier than anyone today! I don't doubt for one minute that what you say about today's roasts! Drugs and alcohol, I guess they all do that today. And NOT in moderation either. So society must deal with a bunch of druggies and alkies who can't stand or speak!! Who needs it.
