Every single famous person has an other side. Honestly if you watched his videos from the start you knew what kind of person he was so I think the people freaking out about him are the ones who tuned in later in his career. We didn't watch him for his persona or shady intentions, we watched because his content is unmatched. What he does today is what journalists used to do decades ago, and it's what gained people's attention by seeing a part of the world and life that they knew almost nothing about.

His recent film of going through the darian jungle needs to win an award! It opened up so many eyes to actually acknowledge what is going on in order to get into the United States. Honestly if you watched his videos from the start you knew what kind of person he was so I think the people freaking out about him are the ones who tuned in later in his career. The fact you don't know why the judge couldn't pinpoint accusations kinda gives it away that you don't know the detailed facts of the case presented in court (and neither do I). It is not up for the court of public opinion to go around deciding if he raped someone, this is to be analyzed in a court of law by a judge and with lawyers presenting detailed arguments.

He projects 'soft power' of pro-russian or pro-soviet views in the west. He depicts soviet times as one happy place for all the people which wasn't the case. To the contrary, a lot of people under the regime were oppressed. I have family members from both parents lineage that were deported to Siberia by force on cattle train wagons (only few of them returned and there were hundreds of thousands of such families). Other weren't deported because they chose to collaborate with the regime under their conditions (not much of a choice huh?). It's not even the worst part of the soviet regime.

honestly, while some, or all of this may or may not be true, i enjoy his content. i believe in innocent until proven guilty, there is no solid proof of any wrong doings. people can argue the toss all they like but it doesn't substantiate anything - for instance, if i'm in a bank at the time of it getting robbed (the only customer), while it may look suspicious and easy to assume me as guilty, it doesn't mean i'm guilty.
