  • In this video I go over the features of the new 2018 Softail Fat Bob. I also show footage of riding the bike, and give my thoughts on the new Milwaukee Eight Engine, the new frame, and the new suspension.

I liked it enough to buy it. To each their own I guess. Haters can get a peak at it when I pass them......

Definitely a funny looking bike. Fun to ride though. I remember test riding one at my local HD back in 18. Powerful and the suspension felt almost like I was on a sport bike

I love it I bought a 2019 for the total exhaust system on it stage one fuel back and let me tell you it sounds more like a holiday in a hallway it is a great bike seat is comfortable the bars you don’t have to change I guess everyone has their own opinion but I went out and I purchased one and I didn’t regret it since

Do you recommend the Street Bob over the Super Glide...pre softail?

I love your channel but when you said you were going in with an open mind you were fooling us and yourself... you came with biases to review a bike and didnt see the bike for what it is! Cannot compare it to the past because this is a whole different bike!... i think this bob is superior to all past bobs! Doesn’t sound like an old Harley with some nice pipes but hey! The grunt and have their own awesome sound! Especially with some v&h on them! The suspension is fantastic and is so nimble for her size! I rode one and bought one recently! I think its a fantastic bike and i am really happy with my purchase...

How was the power in compared to the 103 street bob? I got Thunderheaders, V&H intake and V&H tuner on my 2015 street bob.

Hey Matt... the Milwuakee 8 definitely has more Torque/HP's than the stock 103... honestly, it felt stronger than my bike and I have a similar setup to you.... High flow intake, exhaust and tuner. It feels good... sounds like a Volkswagen off the showroom floor though. I'll let you know when I get a chance to ride a M8 that has a stage 1...

How tall are the bars on your Street Bob? Those look great and I want to put those on my Low Rider S! Thanks

They are the Santee Tbars 12", and then I added 2" riser from DK Customs. I'm 6' 2", and love the height.

Why RIP? There are still a million of the old shaky ones with crap suspensions, anti-stop brakes, and frames that wobble around if ridden the least bit aggressively. No need to mourn.

It's fairly comfortable, handles well, and definitely has some power. I agree that the look is just a bit off though. Just a little too sport bikey.

I can appreciate your honest take on this bike. Ya know, I think HD hedged there bets in the wrong direction with this lineup. Like you said, they seem to be making a grab at the market of people that would normally be dismissive of Harley as slow, underperforming and overpriced bikes. With these refinements they're losing some of the HD loyalist that appreciate the nostalgic, raw mechanical feel of a Harely. And despite these "improvements," these softails are STILL slow, underperforming and overpriced compared the other bikes in the market. So by losing some of their loyalists and not truly enticing a new crowd of riders, what have they really gained?
I'm a dyna man like you, and I'm praying HD has some type of FXR or new performance oriented frame/lineup in there back pocket to be released in the next few years to really grab ahold of this big wave of dyna/fxr popularity we've seen lately. We'll see I guess.

Nice review, short & to the point. With this bike I think they're trying to attract the guys that are into naked & sport bikes. I just went from a gsxr 750 to a 1200 Sportster & am loving it. I plan on moving up & will prob go with the Street Bob which is getting better reviews than this bike. Stay safe Chainsaw!

Thanks Jim. Glad you came over to the Darkside... I have put a lot of great miles on a 1200. Great bike, and fun to work on.

Boooooo looks like shit. I like my 16' Street Bob. It still looks like a Harley.
