  • We're going to America... oh wait no we are not just Gloucester to test the new Harley Davidson Fat Bob. I've always wanted to experience HD and scratch that itch so I had the chance to experience a few bikes back to back at one of their experience days I jumped at the chance. This is very much a first ride video and only based on a 45 minute blast around the countryside so it's very much not a complete long term review, nevertheless I hope you enjoy it still. Nice to see you enjoyed riding the motorcycle.
I've done 3000 miles in 18 days in Europe on a previous version of the Fat Bob. Two-up riding with my wife. Just cruising through 10 countries, taking it easy with a decent amount of sightseeing along the way. We were never aching. We upgraded to a touring seat and larger foot pegs. Harleys can be as comfortable as you want them to be. Even mountain passes and hair pins in Switzerland were fine and fun.
Only last week I traded it for this newer Fat Bob and I'm loving it. I'm looking forward to doing long trips on it as well, with my wife having her own two wheels now.

Yee-haw, yee-haw? Has the mindful motorcyclist lost their mind? Ok moving on. Glad you enjoyed your time on an HD. I have a Street Bob and love the elemental quality of it. It has a 19" front tire with narrower widths front and back so handles rather nimbly with mid mount controls. The levers are chunky, but the levers on my 2014 BMW S1000RR were just as chunky, odd on the BMW, but they work on an HD. Engine heat that you experienced was surprising. My 114 runs cool, stock motor, so I wonder if there's a tune difference between here and there. Oh, as far as the term "agricultural" is concerned many pieces of new farm equipment sold here cost well over $500,000 USD so saying something is agricultural is just fine. Glad to see you used the motor instead of just pottered along. Makes all the difference in the experience. Yee-haw....sheesh..... Oh, it would be unwise in some circles to compare HD to a Soviet tank....just saying....

Hi JW, I do work for an American company and my boss (old boss) is from Texas, current manager is from Philadelphia. So I really didn't mean to come across disrespectful at all. Just some transatlantic rivalry 😊. Every 4th of July I send an email with the Queen on it to my colleagues and then wait for all the funny replies to flood back into my inbox 😂, it's become a bit of a tradition. You know what, I'm really glad I rode a H-D, it's a unique experience and yes I did get a chance to open it up, to red line at one straight. I also rode the new Nightster but I didn't like that as much and the Pan-America which I'm delighted that H-D are making, I would have to ride it a few more times as I would have one over a GS just on account of the BMW being so common. H-D cost a lot more over here due to European trade tariffs which is a shame. Take your point about using the terms agricultural and yes again soviet tank was meant again as a compliment as in it's feels reliable and will just go on for ever. I guess times have changed though havent they perhaps best not to compare an American icon to a T34! Thanks!

@@MindfulMotorcyclist No offense taken. BTW I always compare my motorcycles to WWII aircraft. I’ve owned a Mosquito!

The heat from the motor is because you were riding it like a 4 cylinder sportbike high up in the rev range!! The v twins are designed to run low down in the rev range where they develop peak torque.
