I love Canada. I'll be up there in Montreal soon- heaven on earth. Fight to keep it free and always believe in yourselves. You're the best. Love from America, Ben
I have had the pleasure of attending events at the Ontario Regiment Museum in Oshawa Ontario. Seeing the Leoprad 1A5 there impressed this civie. Now the 2A6M? Wow. So glad this great 'kit' has found its way to our forces. Thanks for this info video. Much appreciated.
what you wanna say with these command? name me one tank who can beat a Normal Bundeswehr Leopard 2 Group down? I dont know one.. maybe some T-90's but only if they got good soldiers on it, but no matter what tank, if u got bad commerades in the tank you wont have a chance against any tank.
@ItzNeXuZ questionable, from a technically standpoint, maybe. From a userfriendlyness one, maybe. The Americans had the most reliable one with the Sherman and the soviets had there T-34, which has a wide range of quality. On some you could litterly put a hand i between the armoure plates. The German tanks where pretty much high quality tank based on proven technology which was used to the point it couldn't withstand the roughness of the battelfield. Beautiful to look at, ugly to use, overpowered in a 1v1 situation I would say.

@gajustempus no sir you´re wrong the lmg are made by heckler&koch and the cannon is made by Rheinmetall in germany! the us army is buying this cannon from germany and not the german from an us company
@Battery9876 Its almost the same as the M829A3 but we use the DM63 with tungsten. Yes the new Leopard has also the ability of firing controlled guided rounds and also LAHAT missiles.
Canada has bought 100 of these tanks from the Dutch surplus and 20 on contract from Germany. I think that some of the 100 are older models but will in time be upgraded to the 2A6M. Finaly the Canadian DOD has made the right choice in getting the Leopard 2A6M as it is the best tank in the world! I would like to see Canada have 200 of these bad boys!
Do not forget that the Leopard 2 A7/A7+ (difference is the gun, A7 has the Rheinmetall 120mm L/55, A7+ has the Rheinmetall 120mm L/44) is a specialized version for the uraban warfare ;)
they managed to fit in a clima control. nobody thought about it before. in germany its usually cold not hot^^ and the canadiens just bought and rented dutch and german tanks so they needed to first buy all and than upgrade them.
Ah. please don't do these blanket statements ^^ We had out fair share of DUDs here, and the Soviet union Did roll out the best tank of WW2 and continued to make more excellent designs - there is a reason why the worls is filled with t55's, t72's and all the evolutions of these tanks. That said: The Leopard2 is our crown jewel :) And it is awesome.
@Drummen4tw: What? The M256 is made by Watervliet Arsenal, a US-Company. It's identical to the german Rheinmetall L/44. The US just bought the license, that they are allowed to produce this Gun too.

Münster actually is a university city. Munster on the other hand is home of one of the largest garrisons of the Bundeswehr. The ü/u makes the difference.
I read a couple of months ago that the Germans will travel and upgrade the optics system on the Canadian Leopard 2 tank. Do us a favour Germany and give our army the Leopard 2 Next Generation Tank.
Na, the A6 is based on A5 and the Leo. 2 Revolution/Evolution is based on the A4, which has a bit worse armoure and the aiming devices are beside the and not on top like on the Leo. 2A6/A6/Later So the best idea would be to take the Revolution/Evolution composite armoure and make it even better by covering the whole left cheek.
At 8m37 he says the best piece of kit in his 20 year career and he looks not even be 20 years old. Seems the canadian army has at last found the fountain of youth.
No way the abram is pretty much outdated by now, the leopard, the K2 hell maybe even the T90 are becoming superior. Canada is doing good going with the leopards.
so I've heard that the 20 leopard 2a6m tanks that were borrowed from Germany will be kept by Canada even after leaving Afghanistan but how come I haven't seen any on Canadian soil? I've only seen the new leopard 2a4m and 2a4.
@CookiesAndGuns95 hehehe, no disrespect intended, I totally agree with you that Germany has a tried and true history of ingenous contributions to modern tech, that said... No kidding ww2 would have been alot different without Germany, kind of a no brainer. :P
The L/55 performance way better then the shorter L/44 in terms of long range precision of any ammunition. It if comes to ammunition then all NATO rounds should have around 15% increased penetration if shot from the L/55 compared to the L/44. Only downside (?) ammunition that was developed for the L/55 can't be shot from the L/44 because the propellant charge is way strong and so on could blow up the entire breach plus crew behind if used in a L/44.
But I'm from Germany and am able to speak/write English and French quite fluently an a little Spanish, European Frenchmen know nothing except their own language, sorry to say but true :)
Thank you, Germany; all of us in Canada appreciate such an awesome tank. :D
And we Americans don't >:(
EDF Ranger l2tank
Alexander Surname Er I mean we don't have it and were just jealous woops.
EDF Ranger but the Abrams have a German gun a 120 Rheinmetallborsig L/44
Merdarion GER Just not the same design, speed or tank in general, though it is nice that we both have the same cannon then
Indeed as a German I can tell you seriously: We Germans love Canada and the Canadians.
yep
Fengris How about the Danes? lol we got them too
I like canadians , theyr good soldieres and the best thing about them they left germany first because they knew theyr job was done

@takko091 Yeah so? The A6 is still a top class tank
@Bordsteinkante Er hat nur zitiert. Egal, ich sitz grad auf Stube und warte drauf, dass es wieder raus geht!
Laughs in Challenger 2 which is covered in Burlington LV2 armour, even the M1A1 doesn't have the level of protection..

Lol that LT in the very beginning is so damn funny! Typical LT's always saying "UHM"
leopard motor can drive with everything. Old motor oil or airplane gasoline ... very important in a war
Target system very well ...
well you need a team of engineers to convert the damm engine but other then that. yeah pretty good
@halflife103 Srry but the old poor equipment is wrong. This video is a good example of high tech equipment

It is based upon the L44 Rheinmettal so they can share the same ammo, but the M256 is a big improvement.
thanks canada for using an leopard 2!
@Captatiobenevolenti ? there is a leopard 3 ? or do you mean the A7?

@Mitouboxer117 You may of heard of him...WINSTON CHURCHILL!! He was in the British Office during WW2. Lol

@Corporationevil FALSE these tanks are not RENTED they are purchased...they are now Canadian tanks permanently.
German engineering. Good thing we bought the best.

Canada (and many other countries) have been using them since the 70s and 80s though...

@Mitouboxer117 why Yank tech???,the German platform is used on the Abrams...they have always been number 1 in tanks.
