I joined the US Army September 27th 2001, shortly after 9-11, I deployed with the 3rd ID in 2003, I fought along side the Brits…. Fast forward August of this last year, I took my family to Disney on Florida, I stood in line with a British veteran and we shot the shit while waiting for some rides, I still see wounds he wore as a badge of honor on his body(he was blown up twice by IED’s) as for me, I was blessed to never get shot or blown up, but my wounds are internal…. I can’t sleep, I have terrible PTSD, but in the moments getting to chat with my new friend, I did find peace knowing my brother across the pond got to come home to his family after going thru so much…. My views on the war have changed over the years, maybe we shouldn’t of stayed for so long, but, I was a 20 year old PFC just doing a job…. No matter what my views of the war are or were, these men will always be my brothers in arms… we didn’t care why we were there, we didn’t cry about being away from our families in the moment, we only found peace thru brotherhood, a brotherhood forged in blood and honor!! Once two great countries fought against one another, and now are the greatest Allie’s the modern world has seen!! I hope you find peace Bryan, I hope the guns and bombs are quite in your head now! I recently found out that he gave into his demons and took his own life shortly after his trip to Disney! It breaks my heart to even ponder the thought of the torture your mind experienced in your home life! You did a job you were called to do, and sometimes you did that job for an ungrateful people! Just know that, tonight, as I sit on my couch with my little dog curled at my feet, I drink to you my brother! May you find that peace in your internal rest! I pray for the small child that was with you that day, that he grows up not thinking about how you passed away, but thinking about how you lived! Til Valhalla my friend!!

i served in the RLC in this stage of the conflict in OpTellic and some of the finest peolp i can say i have ever met and i had the honour of serving my country along side these men ..... and unfortunately lost one that was as good as a brother to me RIP brother and to those still serving in the british forces i salute you as i know how hard it is and the dedication you all put in like i once did!!!!

Never noticed him carrying all 3 but fuck me a sniper rifle and a minimi has to be like some kind of god feat thats wild he was light on other gear but still surprised they made a pack mule out of a sniper, I think tbh when he was deemed ineffective and they realised they had to bug out they threw the empty? jav onto him. Still impressive as fuck

i will never ever forget the footage i saw years back, of a british firefight with the taliban, where a captain or was it a commander was directing the british fire without any cover, he was standing on top of a house and directing his units fire, with no regard for his own safety, if anyone has that footage please tell me where i can find it, it was the most amazing moment i have ever seen from the british involvement in afghanistan, respect to the british military!

1.18 As an ex British Army combat engineer I can tell you that guy is moving way too fast with that detector, the speed he`s walking if he gets a signal he will probably walk over the device before the detector signal registers in his head. I was taught to clear ground at a maximum of 1 metre per second.
I’m a 17-year-old Hungarian who served as an E5 during my deployment to Iraq. I used the FGM-148 Javelin to lock onto and engage enemy infantry positions in some intense combat situations. One night, our unit was under heavy fire, and I was responsible for providing cover. I set up the Javelin, acquired a target, and fired. The missile flew through the dark, arid landscape, and the impact was precise. It’s a powerful feeling when your equipment performs exactly as needed in critical moments. Huge respect to all the soldiers who use this gear in real combat.
Difficult not to notice how British soldiers rarely swear,generally sound intelligent, and seem like they have respect for the enemy as human beings, whereas with marines it's a never ending barrage of asinine commentary and obscenities.

1.18 As an ex British Army combat engineer I can tell you that guy is moving way too fast with that detector, the speed he`s walking if he gets a signal he will probably walk over the device before the detector signal registers in his head. I was taught to clear ground at a maximum of 1 metre per second.

I’m a 17-year-old Hungarian who served as an E5 during my deployment to Iraq. I used the FGM-148 Javelin to lock onto and engage enemy infantry positions in some intense combat situations. One night, our unit was under heavy fire, and I was responsible for providing cover. I set up the Javelin, acquired a target, and fired. The missile flew through the dark, arid landscape, and the impact was precise. It’s a powerful feeling when your equipment performs exactly as needed in critical moments. Huge respect to all the soldiers who use this gear in real combat.

Difficult not to notice how British soldiers rarely swear,generally sound intelligent, and seem like they have respect for the enemy as human beings, whereas with marines it's a never ending barrage of asinine commentary and obscenities.

Depends on the unit. Royal Marines and some southern units like this I'd agree. Northern units and paras our the exact opposite.
