Ah! Good question!!! I can't believe I didn't add that into the video 🤦♀️ For the final row, instead of doing double crochets either side of the spike, do *SINGLE crochet, double crochet spike stitch, SINGLE crochet* So sorry to have left that off! I will pin this comment for others to see 🙂
You are one of the best instructors. You are clear and repeat things just enough, you don’t drone on and don’t have annoying music! I really enjoy your instructions!
I love this stitch! I’m new to crocheting, I take care of my grandmother who has Alzheimer’s and dementia, and it takes a toll mentally seeing someone you love lose the memories they’ve spent a lifetime making! I decided to learn how to crochet to keep my mind occupied and busy, and it’s been the best thing I have done! I am on my second blanket and I’m good at it! This is almost my second month crocheting, and I’ve learned how to do it by watching RUclips videos! Haha Thank you for sharing this easy stitch, I may use it for my next blanket.❤
Robin, you are the best person to learn from ❤. I have been learning from you for a couple of years. God bless you for helping all of us crocheters!❤🌺🌼🌹🥰🧡
This is new to me. I've always loved the old stand by granny square by never heard of the spike. But I do love patterns where a color dips into another like a spike, or the Larksfoot etc. I'm terrible at reading patterns. I'm more of a visual learner. Thank goodness for wonderful people like you on RUclips!! 💗
I'm a fan too - anything that looks interesting colour wise / stitch wise but has nice straight rows - far less brain power required than for a chevron 😂
"Everything is folding up and being quite angry" may be the best sentence related to yarncraft ever; it certainly made me chuckle. Thank you for another great video, I enjoy them almost as much as I enjoy putting the information to use!
Yeah I tried and my yarn was screaming at me. Row 2 was definitely fiddly so what I did was make a single crochet foundation row to thicken up the chain, before working the first row. Seemed to "squish" a little less. I was able to pull up a bit looser having that thicker base row. I looooove this pattern!
In my humble opinion, the Brown, gold and white colorways, look more attractive than the blanket you threw in the nasty corner. Beautiful crochet work.
I am revisiting your video to say I really enjoy this stitch. It's very easy to follow and easy to do when your watching tv, and the color patterns are endless. The first one I made for my be. He chose chocolate brown, and I added a variegated brown with cream, and a light tan. I used 200ch,+1. And it measured 73" wide. I did 2 rows of choc, 2rows of variegated, then 2 rows of the light tan. Repeated this color series for 120 rows and it came out to 63" wide. My boyfriend loves it. Thank you. I am now in progress of making scrapghan of all my odd ball yarns, so many possibilities, love it
I just finished a baby blanket and it came out beautiful, now I just started another blanket for my brother in law and I'm having a heck of a time starting row two.
THANK YOU. I am in a group of ladies that crochets for charity. Our projects for this time is RED WHITE AND BLUE. I am excited to get this started. I have been crocheting for over 40 years THANK YOU!! I will get pictures of my project.
Wow, I’ve been searching and searching for a really nice blanket pattern that wasn’t difficult to crochet. These days I prefer using chunky yarn, it goes much faster for me. I like the various colors, makes it more appealing to the eye. Yes, it’s new to me. I liked how you showed in your tutorial how really easy this is to make. 😊
I love this stitch, I think it was the first one I learned more than 50 years ago. It is also known as the Lark's Foot Stitch. I am making a baby blanket using it today, so glad you made this video and helped me remember how to do it!
I love this twist on the granny stitch…I like the fact that there are not a lot of holes in it, and the fact that it looks like waves when you change colors…thanks for such a beautiful way to do the variation of the granny square stitch…I am going to make a lap blanket for my best friend now….I know she will love it like I do! Thanks
It’s a lovely pattern. Your instructions were easy to follow. I made a sample in soft green, pink, and yellow. These colors made the pattern seem feminine. Next is making it in bright green, orange, and purple for my son. His color choices. In those colors it looks very masculine. Thank you for showing several color choices. I happen to love the colors in your rainbow blanket.
I was totally frustrated with the written instruction for this stitch and am so happy I can do it now, thanks to you! Especially liked your suggestion to "stretch" the middle stitch so it accentuates the point! Very detailed video--thank you!
I'm loving this pattern. I make baby blankets to donate. Don't know why I waited so long to try it. Double crochet is my favorite stitch to use and I love just about anything using the granny clusters. Thank you again for an awesome video.
Thank you so much for being so kind to demonstrate this new stitch for me/us. Your voice was very pleasant & enjoyable to listen to. I am planning to make a Christmas afghan or maybe a Fall one afghan or maybe give as a gift. Thank you! 🤗💞
Oh my gosh, this stitch is so amazing. Thank you very much, I watched your video yesterday and as I just started a poncho, I decided to give it a try. And low and behold, so beautiful. I wish I could share a picture. Again thank you! 🌹
This is a new stitch for me. You are very easy to learn from and my go to for tutorials. Anytime that I want to learn a new stitch, I immediately look for a tutorial by you. Thank you for your time and being such a pleasure to learn from.
Love this stitch. I love the effect the rows create. I’ve been a knitter for 40 years. Psoriatic arthritis has started to make knitting very difficult and it seriously has depressed me. I’ve always been kind of intimidated by crochet but I’m staring at my yarn stash and dying to give it a go. So thank you for these tutorials. 💕
This is the pattern I chose to use my 75 colors of yarn. It's such a lovely combo of stitches that seems to blend any colors you choose. I especially love the colors you used for the baby blanket, it looks almost baroque style and so elegant, it does NOT deserve to be in your naughty pile! The rainbow-like blanket, well, I didn't like the darker blue with white stripes in that one. Just my humble opinion. I can't wait to start on my huge blanket with this stitch pattern, THANK YOU!!
A fresh new variation of granny square that I will be sure to try. I might even do my own twist and make middle dc a front post dc to give even more texture.
I am currently making a Striped blanket using6 different stitch patterns...I am not happy with one section ...loving all others....think this spiked granny will be just perfect as a substitute...thanks as always for your great stitch tutorials...Maws from Oz 🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶
Robin I love the black, mustard and white blanket. I don’t know if I like it for a baby blanket. I personally love earth tone colors. Going to enjoy this tutorial especially being stuck in the house like everyone.
The gold, white, & dark blue/black is a nice color combination. Looks good. Other one I separated the blue green colors and make another blanket with them. Great job on both Nice stitching
