To be fair, Penumbra Phantasm is potentially a discarded Deltarune song. Toby first made it in 2011 when he first had the idea for Deltarune. Edit: I forgot it shows up in the song "THE HOLY", it literally is a Deltarune song that ended up in Homestuck
I mean the fact that this particular song is used in Hopes and Dreams (yeah I'm 100% sure about that) makes me guess that not only is the pacifist ending in gonna have Penumbra Phantasm as a theme (maybe with Noelle as boss) but that it is also gonna contain Hopes and Dreams
All "I AM PENUMBRA THAT PHANTASMS" jokes aside, really interesting concept putting the theme on Gaster fight! And making the fight in Chapter 5 instead of 6 or 7.
Oh and I want to add that this fight is part of the weird route. In my imagination, you can only unlock this battle if you will completely broke the game, so you will fall into depths. And in this fight there's no way to beat Gaster. You just need to complete two phases and in the end he will capture Kris and we will control Noelle

Idk what a Gaster fight would even look like (it would kinda destroy a lot of the mystery), but if you did fight him, I imagine the music would be a lot more disjointed and discordant than this. Kind of like the horde music in Left 4 Dead 2

@@gogyla1774 the only problem with this idea is that i feel like toby fox wants to build gaster's character as some kind of god who's basically playing 4d chess to lead the fun gang into "banishing the angel's heaven" so he can take the player's soul at the very end. also if it really was gaster who was doing determination experiments (before alphys took over) then it would be pretty fitting for him to want the player's determination. making him the knight would be placing him in a role too small for him. but i do like this regardless.
I like to imagine his boss fight being reminiscent of Dr. Andonut's fight from Halloween hack. I remember hearing a theory that Deltarune is a retelling of Halloween Hack, so Gaster being a fleshed out HH!Andonuts make sense in this context. Something I like to share.
