Just stumbled on this video and ordered bunch of parts for my 650 and 550. Kudos to Mark for recognizing these flaws of the Dillon presses and improving them. Thanks for sharing!

I have been using a Lee Loadmaster for several years and have loaded 50-60k with it and actually wore it out and Lee rebuilt it for me. However, I have been contemplating getting a Dillion 650, I just want to tell you how helpful your videos have been for me to understand the operation and issues with the Dillion 650 and how to fix them. Thanks again from a fellow reloader!

Thanks for the video. After watching this I bought one and have been very pleased - highly recommend this for the 650. I use this to stop primers and I use an empty 38 special brass to stop the case feed dispenser. I can now easily enable/disable primer and case feed in just a few seconds.

Thorough review, thanks. Snowshooze sent me an ad for his primer switch with the last item I purchased from him. I will order the switch when I finish this comment. He has excellent Dillon upgrade products, good communications and fast delivery.

I have a 550B and the XL650, I prefer the 650 priming but being able to turn it off is an improvement fur sure, probably why the 750 has the 550 style priming system. Going to get one of these for sure.

Thank you very much for the video, I watched the other one before and now this one. I've been wanting a system like this to stop having primers fall out of the priming cycle and now this video sold me. That's it, I'm buying the performance kit from snowshooze ! Great way of doing team work. One does product development and you do the marketing, sir !

Thank you Bravo 1 Xay your video was the reason I purchase this Primer stop Switch - I Just installed mine on my 650xl and works smooth and nice to be able to shut off the primer if needed. this is very well made and the upgrade was well worth the cost.

I have me reloading with a MEC for shotgun for sometime now and just purchased the Dillon 650-xl and so far love it. Still learning the machine but amazing. Your videos have been very helpful. and I have to laugh as this is new and I am already adding upgrades to it. but this put me ahead of the game. One fast question as I am researching this what do you feel is the best way to remove the static in the powder reservoir?? so far I seem to find that everyone is using dryer sheets. thoughts!
Thank you for videos and your time
      Kevin

Those are all over thingaverse, for those with 3d printers. Printed one for my machine. The primer catcher is cool too. There is an open source bullet feeder as well as a case feeder too.

Brilliant and obviously well machined little quick primer shutoff for the XL650, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a scenario that would make this device worth $25 to a cheapskate like me versus 20 seconds off and back on of the stock cam block using a 5/32" hex wrench.
Hmmmmm... Haven't come up with one yet but maybe I will someday.

Nice review. Why would Mark engineer this item and require the failsafe bracket be moved to the right?
It would seem to suggest that his switch would move the primer indexing arm further than the OEM primer cam does.

Hi, I just got a used 650. I haven't reloaded in decades. Also I never had a progressive press. Is this so you can load primed cases? Is this a PITA? I guess it would be ok, but I guess the decap and resize die also need to be removed? I still have not set up my 650 so any help would be great. Thanks for doing these videos. I will try to watch a lot of videos prior to me setting up the press.

    • @bravo1xray522
      @bravo1xray522  4 года назад

What this does is stop the priming system. For whatever reason. I guess I use it most for when I have a stoppage for whatever reason and put a primed case into it and move on. Once you get used to how the press operates it will be more clear to you....
Thanks for the questions and good luck setting up your 650!! You'll love it!

this looks like a very good product and I ordered one after watching this vid. BUT the vid was painfully long! really? 23 min to show something that should take no more than 4-5 minutes. You must be used to explaining things to elementary school kids, my God! I wanted to shoot myself by the time it ended. But thanks for the review, it will come in very useful.

I suffered through the whole vid and was going to post exactly what you did.
I've got the switch on my 650 and like you say just a few minute vid would have covered it.

i see that you are still getting quite a bit of powder spillage even with the new detent ball and spring under the shell plate is this correct as i was thinking about purchasing the roller bearing kit with the new detent ball and spring.

nice job on the video Bravo. During your video I saw a new nylon bushing on your guide rod.
where did you buy this at , will you like me know please. You might mention to Mark to not tape the parts across the top where the print is . I like to keep all my part numbers and slips and taping it makes everybody tear the paper up with the typing. Thanks

Brady Jones it helps in set up and stoppages. Very few primers are passed and dropped off.

As you will soon see, if you want to do some tweaking, e.g., re-seat some bullets, adjust powder charges or anything where you want to run the same round/case through more than once, it will keep spitting out primers every time time you pull the operating arm.

Its really too bad that the 650 is such a poorly designed machine. Dillon really dropped the ball on this one. Love my 550 though.
