We need Gruber everywhere you find Tesla. These cars are just starting to go out of warranty and we're going to see more and more of these in the near future.
Absolutely agree . The UK government is too slow in anticipating the future . Also , their priority should be to install the infrastructure for charging stations .
Love that you can change bad cells and don't need to change the entire battery pack for 20k. Thats how I used to do it with my prius years ago at a shop.
Great work!! Although I doubt a 60 is going to sell for 30K, more likely low to mid 20s, but still a great profit. Good to know this service is available!
I still prefer this Model S over any of the newer ones. Bigger body and bulkier look versus the newer Yoshi Super Mario Bros type look🤣 way to go Gruber on your research relating to diagnostics
We bought a Tesla Roadster for $25k. It had a broken front hood and fender in an accident with a basket ball hoop. We got a new front for a few thousand . Painted it and resild it for 50k in about 1 month. No salvage title either. We hated to sell it.
Interesting services that your providing, I’ve been wondering what happens to “old” electric vehicles... They get rebuilt, just like ICE vehicles... Always liked the roadster although I’ve never owned or driven one. Wish they’d come out with a nice two seater again as not everyone wants, or needs, four doors and all of the seating capacity.
Great job. I’m asking myself a question. When you repair a pack like this one that is that old, aren’t cell failures going to happen more and more often? So wouldn’t it be better to pay almost 20k pour a new pack and have no problems anymore than paying 2-3k every 5 months?
@@Sylvan_dB pretty logic, you can either sell your car and then you lost a lot of money and you need to buy a way more expensive Tesla. While if you juste change the battery, you'll make your older car way better, while not paying as much.
@@petegruber7564 Peter, you say this one cell problem is a fluke, and not indicative of a trend, yet further down in the comments section you say this problem is becoming more prevalent. May I ask which one it is?

The real question is WHY those EV companies wont do the same, test which cell is bad and just replace it, it looks easy to do instead of forcing the customer to pay 20k to replace the whole thing.. I mean if you have a remote control and its stop working, you just put 1 new battery and guess what it works again...

@@ferrochinabisleri1587 that's not possible since it's physically disconnected from the rest of the pack, as shown in the video. if the same cell blows up due to chemical aging processes the driver should be aware of using the vehicle with faulty but disconnected cells and should also be liable for that.
Thank you for the tip. This is not a salvage car however. The customer bought it from a private owner. BTW - We wholeheartedly support Tesla's prerogative to determine which vehicles are eligible for the free fuel feature since they are after all paying for the "fuel".

When our Camry hybrid's battery no longer working, I removed it from the car and tested each of the battery cells. I found that two were not charging or holding charges so I replaced them with used ones from eBay. The car runs like new again! My cost? $100. Toyota wanted about 7K to replace it.
