Strong deductive reasoning, although I could see myself justifying the sunglasses just to prove that knowing what your talking about is badass. Especially if I could pull it off as well as this guy does.
Also, he also likely memorizes at least some lines where there is too great a distance between subject and camera for most teleprompters to work. if it's just flashing 1-3 words, that can be hard to sound natural like he does. Those are the ones that work from a great enough distance for that exterior downward yaw shot for instance.
Important to note, while at times he looks off frame, there are significant periods where he does not. While I did not have the best lighting conditions, I looked for a sideways reflection of a teleprompter and saw none. Some teleprompters are fairly low light though, and hiding it in the shadow may have been sufficient.

The best review of a car you can get comes from an honest mechanic. Salesmen wouldn't tell the truth and car reviewers usually look at new cars or quirky cars, but they don't consider the long-term ownership. For those of us who prefer buying a car once a decade (or less), we want to have some confidence that it won't become an expensive basket case within that time. I'd rather, in fact, be able to sell or give away a car with a lot of life left in it - so the next owner doesn't get burned on it. I would feel bad selling a car that's near the end of life on a $20K component. (Even $5k is outside a lot of people's means.)

I am contemplating replacing the p85 motor w/ the smaller s60 rear drive units - they appear to be much more reliable. Will be looking at a company like gruber to do it. Did you have coolant leakage, or what was the failure problem with yours? I have a feeling the fluid (atf & coolant) might need to be changed at a schedule of more like 15-20k miles instead of 50k. I wonder what Gruber knows about this. Rich Rebuilds replaced his p85 motor w/ a small rear drive motor for $4k.

As an automation engineer I found this video informative, accurate, unbiased, and well presented. I agree with the conclusions and see a market for cell repairs to keep these EVs in operation for the next generation of owners in the lower economic bracket, who undoubtedly will constitute the largest portion of owners in the coming years. With regard to release of the first Tesla roadsters it is essential they were released early as this expedites engineering quality loop feedback and accelerated improvement. In theory, no car or product is perfect when first to market, however Tesla has implemented firmware as you stated and improvements can now be made "on the fly". I admire your set-up and dedication to providing a comprehensive and reliable solution to the aging EV challenges.

If there are just a failure in electric cirquit or few damaged cells, the battery can be repaired. That is not going to be very common.
Typically cells age evenly especially when temperature management is good. The daisy chain failure which was mentioned in the video means that practically all cells have aged into level where they can't operate properly.
When used right, a pack can withstand a lots of miles especially if they are driven over short period of time. If the car is closing 20 year age, it becomes more important what have been average charge level or temperature during the storage.
Batteries like to be in 50% charge level and stored in a cool place. Hot is generally bad since it accelerates unwanted chemical reactions.

If this video highlights one thing, there is almost no private EV servicing/engineering shops out there. Certainly a big opportunity to be a pioneer. Good video. I believe Tesla battery packs will only become more difficult to repair in the newer models. Like Apple has done with its batteries, Tesla is moving toward tighter integration of the battery with the rest of the vehicle in order to improve range and reduce initial cost, with repairability sacrificed in the process. I foresee many of these packs ending up being shipped to third world countries where 12 year old boys will pick through them and harvest the recyclable materials. Not good.

It depends what angle they want to play. I think their main goal is to reduce defective cells in the first place rather than needing a battery replacement. But I think if EVs are going to become sustainable, the only way is if the batteries are easily replaceable. Luckily Elon is a bit more in touch with the user than Apple CEOs so I think once EV’s start to really become common, this will happen

I was a cab driver in Australia for many years.
My experience was with Camry and Prius.
I figured out that, as a private person, I would never purchase a hybrid.
This is simply because, as a private person, you are completely at the mercy of the dealers.
And dealers being dealers, they will rip you off for all that they can get out of your wallet.
Imagine; Friday night 6 pm, your vehicle says ‘check hybrid system’, you may have to take the vehicle home and wait til morning to get it to a dealer.
Dealer takes it out of your sight and you don’t know what they are doing.
It may have been caused by a ‘momentary batt voltage drop’ (which caused the fault indication).
This is 10 minutes to ‘reset’ the fault with a hand held meter (used by the dealers ‘technician’),
They bring the vehicle back to you, blah blah, that will be $200 sir.
Trust me, buy a ‘normal’ petrol or diesel vehicle that any mechanic can work on, even when you are out in the boonies or back of beyond.
You will give yourself a peace of mind that will never be achieved with an electric vehicle.
Trust me, I have seen the bullshit of overcharging and you can’t prove that you were charged more than it was worth.

Interesting information. I prefer infernal combustion engines. 22k for a battery is almost as much as I paid for my truck, at the time it was 2 years old with 30k miles. That is insane. Even 5 grand to rework a battery pack is out of the affordability range for a lot of people. It is like pulling teeth to get people to put rotors on their car when they are getting brakes done as it is. People treat cars like appliances, that is part of the reason why leasing has become so popular and continues to gain popularity.

That being said, I have only seen one of these cars where I live. Low production numbers mean there is not a whole lot of them around Gee's Ford sold 800000 F-150s last year. And Good luck if you want a Toyota Tundra. I have a more positive view of EV's than I did. They are a niche vehicle. For some people sure it's the way to go, for people like me that live in a very very rural area and that would be for a good chunk of the country, no it does not make any sense at all. You are going to have to be a near electrical and computer engineer to do the kind of service that is coming with them. What good is a car if in order to fix it you have to spend a day taking it apart another day or two to effect the repair and then another day putting it all back together? And you know that such skilled labor is going to be billed out at well over 100 dollars an hour. Gas-powered cars are not going to disappear, in your lifetime or in your great grand children's lifetime. Then there is the issue of the dirty toxic lithium mining, electricity to run the vehicles, and everything else. Not exactly pollution-free, but that is another subject and argument.
