    I've had two c-sections and a myomectomy over the course of two years. My first c-section was an emergency c-section I went into preterm labor at 6th month pregnancy and my firstborn son died 7 days after he was born July 2016. September 2016 I had my myomectomy and due to they way they cut me during my emergency c-section was a classical cut meaning vertically and VBAC was not an option. For my second son Kai, we had a scheduled c-section at 37 weeks May 25th. He was 6 lbs 2oz! I was light-headed right befors they started cutting. We were able to have a gentle c-section which mean we were able to do skin to skin.Because my son was early term he was spending more energy to maintain his bodyweight and eat so his blood sugar and temp was low. We had to supplement with donor milk for 12 hours but his blood sugar and temp was regular thank God! I did dance fitness while I was pregnant so my stomach went down in two weeks. Thanks for sharing, I share so many similarities with your birth stories. In Nigeria we also focus on hot foods and soups postpartum. Okay I typed too much, can't wait until the next video.

      You didn’t type too much at all. Thank you for sharing, and so sorry to hear about your firstborn son. God bless him always.❤️ I’m glad you were able to do the gentle cesarean with Kai, and that despite the initial difficulties, he is healthy.

    • @afrikopopfitness6745
      @afrikopopfitness6745 6 лет назад +5

      Thanks, Kj is our angel baby and Kai is our rainbow baby. It's good to know I am not alone in feeling light headed right before the doctor started cutting, but I didn't want to say anything. I wasn't able to hold Kj ( he went straight to NICU) until after he died. So even though I was so out of it when Kai was born to be able to do skin to skin, hold him and for him to find my nipple was the best feeling ever. Now he finds the nipple a little too good, lol. I'm going to start doing my dance fitness classes with him today! Sleep deprivation, energy draining breastfeeding sessions, cries to be close to mommy it's all worth it.

    I first want to say I've been a huge fan of you for years and I want to Congratulate you on the birth of your baby. I know exactly what you went through bc I went through it too. I had a myomectomy to remove 7 fibroids in 2006 when I was only 23 yrs old and 4 more grew back a few years later but I was still able to get pregnant. My baby was in there with the fibroids and Thankfully he was ok. I had to have a C-section in 2016 too bc of the myomectomy and I totally understand the pain you went through!!! We as women go through so much and we have to find inner strength from God to keep pushing through the pain!! Please pray for me bc now I have to have a laparoscopic hysterectomy bc that's the only way to keep my fibroids from growing back. I'm tired of getting cut on! I'm so glad everything went well for you!!! xoxo

Recovery was definitly difficult and I was told that I MUST have a C-section if I were to have kids. No kids yet, at 35...but this video helped a lot in explaining what to expect w/ an eminent C-section. Thank you for sharing your story!🤗

    Love hearing people talk about their experiences with anesthesia! Based on your history, I suspect your anesthesia provider may have opted for an epidural catheter (over the single injection spinal) in case your surgery ran long. Leaving the catheter allows us to prolong the duration of your anesthetic. Loved the video!!!

    This made me a tad more afraid of my myomectomy but nothing I know I cant get through. I like the realism. My fibroid was 4 cm two year ago and I missed my ultrasound for one year and in the two years it grew 5 cm so my 9 cm fibroid is a little smaller than the head of a newborn, per my gyn. Nervous to get this out but I do want kids in the future. Just turned 30 and I would hate something like a fibroid to be the reason why I don't have kids later. Great Vid! I wonder how frequently Asian women get fibroids...Black women have them a lot. My grandmother, my mother and myself. AH WOMANHOOD lol
    Edit: Had the myomectomy 7 weeks ago- and she's right...it sucked...it's DOABLE, but it's long and uncomfortable and pillows are your only true friends in life...but I hear C-sections are easier...at first I was like "Im never gonna get cut again, this is BS" but now I think C-section really might be easier...you're not getting worked on...just getting the baby out, no extra cutting, no fibroids removed, or that jazz. :)

    with myomectomy, several incisions are made on the uterus, c-section is only 1 incision and u get epidural to numb the lower part of your body,remember in myomectomy there is no epidural to numb any limb... tx u for the information. I still believe that fibroids and ovarian cysts need to be taught at high school. There is little information about it, many women are suffering and get the surprise of their life time when they want to start a family.

    I am so glad that I found this video. I was diagnosed with fibroids recently and I’m scheduled for a myoectomy this spring. I’ve been so worried about getting pregnant and giving birth, since my doctor told me that I won’t be able to have a natural birth post surgery. I am so happy to hear that your pregnancy and c-section went well. This gives me hope. Thank you.

    Currently home recovering from my myomectomy. I hadn’t watched your video prior to my surgery but it’s nice to hear people say they’ve had similar hardships during the recovery process. Like you, I didn’t take any of the narcotics I was prescribed...only the Motrin and I did fine with that. One night while in the hospital the nurse gave me a narcotic without me asking for it. I think she did it to help me rest because she noticed i hadn’t gone to sleep even after she gave me an ambien. The transition from being in the hospital to home was hard for me. No more handrails on the bed, the toilets in my home were shorter so getting all the way down was tough, my bed at home doesn’t go up and down, etc. We are hoping to have children once I am completely done recovering so I’m interested to see what my doctor says about vbac vs c-section. Very informative video!

    OMG, I needed this type of review. But when I realized it was YOU, I screamed. I was like dang this girl looks so familiar. Why don't we fall in love is one of my favorite songs. Anyhoo. I am preparing for baby #2. I had a myomectomy last year in September and my son is due this December. So this video means a lot to me because I really don't want to have a c section, just due to my recovery process from my myomectomy had the lack of insight I had about the recovery process. But this video gave me some piece of mind. I have my c section consultation next week, so I feel like now I won't feel so against having a c section. Thanks so much for this video. Can you do a "what's in my diaper bag" video?

      All the best
      I just had my myomectomy 3 weeks ago, my recovery was very smooth mainly because I had my mom with me helping with a lot. My pain management was great and I’m surprised Amerie had such pain. Honestly I felt so little pain that I was walking normally in 3 days.
      My only problem now is the belly pooch that formed ( I’m 5’4 and weigh 56kg) my stomach has always been very flat but now there is a little pooch above the scar line which honestly I’m devastated about but I’m starting training soon to tackle that
      So I will say talk to your doctor about the pooch because seeing it after is not a pretty sight. But I’m fibroid free now 😃

    Thank you Ameriie, for sharing this personal journey with us. I can relate and also applaud you for having the operation before becoming pregnant. My (orange sized) fibroid was discovered during my first scan at 13wks, i was told its quite normal and sent on my way. Only to then have a premature rupture, cord prolapse, breech baby and emergency c-section at 26wks. Thank the heavens my baby boy survived, but i am still left with the fibroid now the size of a small melon. Its put me off having more children as the experience was very traumatizing and intense. Again thank you for sharing your journey very inspiring. Peace and love from the UK. 😊

    I had a myomectomy in December 2016 and had 40 fibroids removed. Before my myomectomy I had heavy periods. Now my cycles are amazing very light and short. Also, I stop taking birth control because I believe my fibroids were related to birth control pills I had taken for years. I stay away from estrogen.

    That was so helpful, I’ve had a laparoscopic myomectomy done robotically to remove my fibroids. I have to get a c-section too, whenever we decide to get pregnant. This is according to my doctor that completed the fibroid surgery. I was afraid to do the c-section bc it took me forever to recover from the fibroid surgery. Congrats on your baby Amerie I don’t know why I feel a bond when women have c-sections. My c-section story is a little different... times were different... I was 16 years old ... they induced labor at 7a by 9p I still hadn’t dialated they decided on c-section and unfortunately all off the anesthetic wore off. I remember them starting from right to left cutting saying can you feel it .. I felt every cut every pain telling them it’s not the pressure but the pain I have a bikini cut abs were not cut but separated due to the baby and I have a hernia (I remember my aunt was there and her crying for me) ... me in my tough state I refused to scream or cry they took out my bladder and uterus (I did not see this my aunt did) then they pulled my baby boy out and the placenta is when I actually screamed it was super painful. He was 8lb 9oz. I remember the doctor counting 38 blood soaked towels. Not the greatest experience but my baby is now 26 years old with a family of his own and THAT WAS MY ONLY AND ONLY KID!!! Best wishes on the parenting journey!!!!

    My twins didn't get a bath for at least five days when they were born. We had a five day stay in hospital due to one being on Neonatal Special Care Unit, so the twin that had to stay in hospital didn't get a bath for 23 days. It's not really a thing to bath babies in hospital here in the UK anymore, I don't know why. They will show you how to bath them yourself though.

      Desi R. Honestly, I saw a lump in my lower abdomen and my periods were becoming extremely heavy. I expressed my concerns to my gynecologist. I went for an ultrasound that revealed that I had them.

    • @MsVakong
      @MsVakong 6 лет назад +1

      Desi R. It may or may not be painful depending on where they are located. Some common signs are heavier periods; more painful periods; some may have pain during sex; some may have trouble getting pregnant; and some may see an increase in size in their lower abdomen that isn't due to fat (I had a hard lump on the left side of my lower abdomen). Some women, like my mom, had no symptoms. Only a Gyn would know for sure, but I've learned that many dont say anything until they are large enough for surgery, which is likely when they become a problem for the person. If caught when they are small, lifestyle changes might help (becoming vegetarian or very clean eating with lots of organic non-GMO foods).

    • @brsugarbabe
      @brsugarbabe 6 лет назад

      Desi R. My doctor stated that a large percentage of women have fibroids. However, a lot of women are not symptomatic. I wouldn’t worry if it isn’t causing you pain, heavy bleeding etc. Everything will work out. God bless you. ❤️
