Hi Tyler, I work as a volunteer at Handel Hendrix House in London, where Jimi lived in 68/9. It’s the most incredible place ever, I play guitar in his bedroom relatively often, it would be so incredible if you could make it over here, I’d love to give you a tour! Big love from London, great video (as always) ✨💫
Im lucky enough to live near the legend Eddie Kramer and I've gotten to know the amazing, and very funny lad over the years. I was invited to his studio and we had an amazing time. The plan for him was to do some remastering for the original track data of Electric Ladyland (he was working on Gypsy Eyes that day) which was INSANE to hear the original playing recorded by this man, played by Jimi himself so long ago. After that we explored the gear in his live recording booth storage. He brought out this flying V hand painted by Eddie and Jimi, the story I was told by Eddie was that Jimi had contacted Gibson in '67 to get 3 prototype V's that are plain black and jimi and eddie painted three of them, 1 was used on stage as one of Jimis main guitars and the 2 before were more tests for the paint design. This one guitar was the 2nd one they did and eddie kept it. The headstock had a signature written " #2 Jimi Hendrix " on it. The feeling was so surreal and amazing, I am very fortunate to be able to say I've spent a day with Eddie, he's an incredibly smart and nice guy and super energetic and spry.
@@iaminsfiredbytrustfration8502mike bloomfield was the man who was on stage playing lead guitar with bob dylan on the day that he first went “electric”. i’d recommend checking out the video of him and dylan playing the song maggie’s farm at the newport folk festival
I'm really stoked to hear that guitar sounding pretty much exactly with the given setup of guitar, amp and speaker like what we've heard on the albums. That is pretty much THAT sound. And most definitely a once in a lifetime chance I envy you having 😀
Saw Hendrix in 68' at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. First concert at 14. He has been my "Hero" ever since. Man, what a feeling that must have been playing one of his guitars. I would have been nervous and excited at the same time. Happy for you my man and also jealous. That had to be a dream come true. Loved the song that you recorded at the end. Amazing work. I am still smiling for you!!!!! You're right in that there is no way you can top that experience (no pun intended).
I'm a left handed player. I started playing on a black, 1960's inspired strat (not a Fender, I think it was an SX or something cheap like that) which I would just flip the strings since I didn't even know lefty guitars existed as a kid. It was uncomfortable to play, but I learned guitar on that thing. It was also black with a cream pickguard. It's not a special guitar by any means, and I don't own it anymore, but it's cool to think I got some sort of connection to Jimi Hendrix, having started out in a similar type of guitar. Great stuff!
List of Famous Guitars he has played (Honorable mentions: Gene Simmons' 79 axe Bass and Billy Gibbons: Grind Tokai Les Paul) Eric Clapton: Slowhand Sunburst Strat (Nov 25 2020) James Hetfield: M.U.Y.A V (Nov 28 2020) Kirk Hammett: OUIJA ESP (April 15 2021) Van Halen: Main 5150 Tour Kramer (April 12 2021) Hendrix: Lost Studio Strat (October 7 2024) (Forgot the OUIJA ESP) All done. THIS IS LIKE MY DREAM!!! I walked into a guitar store once and one of the super nice owners let me play a vintage sixties strat all original parts. Best day of my life
The fact this guitar was Mike Bloomfield’s puts it on a whole other level. He’s not as known as his peers to the modern guitarist (sadly), but he was arguably just as influential as all the other OGs - so to go _from_ Hendrix _to_ Mike Bloomfield is like handing from one guitar god to the next. Amazing piece of history
@craigshewchuk9018 Who doesn't know??? Not many anymore, unless you're a player. Chicago Blues wasn't that big to Mainstream and has been well over 50yrs since he played Woodstock. Then he died early! I love his playing, but a lot of those guys are mostly forgotten.

Yep, looks like the same guitar, originally promoted as the Monterey guitar and now promoted as one of Jimi’s ‘ studio ‘ guitars. Suspicious to say the least.

Now you're experienced! That was too cool Tyler. One of my favorites still is the Starcaster $35 guitar. There's one for sale near me on marketplace but since your great video about that guitar, the prices have gone crazy. He wants $250.00 and won't budge.
I just finished a biography about Hendrix, so this was a special video. I was like Joe back in the day. I was a sophomore in high school mourning the loss of Jimi. I was crushed, despondent. He was my favorite then and still is.
Just a thought ... from a lefty. Old dude. Perchance the Pick-Ups are currently still set-up for Jimi hence the "overtone note" which you can "even on clean" hear it. The set up (noticeable in the video), indicates to me that someone at sometime likely adjusted them? The neck Pick-Up especially. In my opinion.
😂 I felt a void in my stomach when he started shaking it so close to the amp...I broke a 68' gibson headstock in half doing that...Just glued it back that same night and voilà 👌😂
My late brother Peter Max Baranet owned this guitar for many years. I remember when he bought it, from Mike Bloomfield manager 1985. I remember when he borrowed the $15,000 from our dad to buy it. He stored the guitar under his friend's bed for 20 years. Every so often he would go over and play it. Some years ago my brother told me he had dinner with Buddy Miles. He recorded Miles saying Yes, this was the guitar that Hendrix gave him and he later gifted it to Nke Bloomfield. Unfortunately, that recorded conversation burned in a fire. To my knowledge, my brother never sold that guitar. I'm sure if he did he would have mentioned it to me. After my brother died in March 2023, he died without a will which means all of his guitars including this one would go to myself and my sisters, Tina and Michelle. As it turns out my two sisters who are both Scientologists stole all of my brother's guitars including this one, and they are in the process of selling them. They made it very clear they are not including me in the proceeds. My sister lies and tells people that Max gave her all of his guitars before he died. I don't believe that, but Cest la vie! Thank you for posting this video,. I have always been a Jimi Hendrix fan ever since my older brother Max took me to see Hendrix on his first USA tour when I was just 14. Chris Baranet
There is still one more step up. Although if the guitar is strung the same way he did. Many would have a hard time playing it. I know he looked up to JH but it's not his fault he was born after the man. Sometimes the humblest of souls are the greatest there ever was. I know it is an opinion, and everyone has one. So this is mine. Although I'm not sure how easily you would be able to get your hands on one of his guitars.
What a wonderful privilege to be able to play a tool from the man who wrote the book on electric guitar. This is like sculping with one of michalangelo's chisels. Or painting with Rembrandts brush. Unbelievable

I don't know if this music track reflects in any way what Hendrix would be doing. But, I like the spirit of exploration, and definitely enjoyed hearing how the guitar sounds at this time. I also don't see how he played some of the guitars which were reportedly his unless he were ambidextrous. Many who claim to be lefty's are. All the best to you!
Visited hard rock vault in London early 2000’s the guy was either relaxed or bored and let my son have a go on Hendrix Flying V - I couldn’t really believe it but it happened - he got to wear curt kobains sunglasses as well - aged 5 !!
There are probably a couple thousand Ibanezes I have played before going up for sale in 2005/06. So if there are any “DS” checked Ibanezes from those years THATS ME!!!
That sounded absolutely fantastic. I really liked your reverse solo and improv of "Purple". Thanks for sharing. Did the amp make a difference, I mean did the guitar sound good on any amp?
I was lucky enough to play Jimi's white Strat in a 7-11 parking lot in Orlando (around 2001-02). I was hanging with the curator of the now defunct Hardrock Vault in Orlando. He had to "pick something up" at a warehouse on the drive back to my car. I sat in the car while he went in. He came out and put a road case in the backseat. As we're driving he asks "don't you want to know what I just picked up?" I say YES, but didn't want to be nosey. He said Jimi's white Strat on loan from his family. When we got back to the 7-11 he let me play it in the front seat of his car. No amp - but it was just the coolest thing ever!
I got to play one of Claypool's backup 4 string fretless Carl Thompson once and it was like a religious experience. I can't even begin to fathom how much more insane this must have felt.
Watching the start of the video. I thought. That looks like emerald city guitars! Lol. I live 4 blocks up Washington street. Hope Jay and Trevor were good to ya!

The mountaintop at last, the utmost of congrats man
I don't know if this music track reflects in any way what Hendrix would be doing.
Man! Just WOW!!!
There are probably a couple thousand Ibanezes I have played before going up for sale in 2005/06. So if there are any “DS” checked Ibanezes from those years THATS ME!!!
the reverse solo was absolute magic. it was perfect wtf.
I bought a G&l Strat from Emerald back in july. they are a great group of people.
When you said Bloomfield played the guitar, I started listening.
Would love to see a episode with Gilmours black strat and his tele 🎸 🎶 ❤️
That sounded absolutely fantastic. I really liked your reverse solo and improv of "Purple". Thanks for sharing. Did the amp make a difference, I mean did the guitar sound good on any amp?
That is really something special. I'm so jealous
i would absolutely buy a music is win signature PRS with that rainbow finish. make it happen man!
So many new guitars. When could we see a updated collection??
Crazy...that 2nd fret g bend is the dang sound.
Watching the start of the video. I thought. That looks like emerald city guitars! Lol. I live 4 blocks up Washington street. Hope Jay and Trevor were good to ya!
