This is quickly becoming my go-to channel for SWU theorycrafting, great work! I was really hoping to make a Bo-Katan Blue Mandolorian Tribal work, but I just don't think it's in the cards this expansion. Here's hoping someone better than me can unlock her potential. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to playing some Boba Hero Red aggro!
Thanks! And yeah, unfortunately I've tested Bo-Katan a bit and it feels like the Mandalorian synergy didn't quite land... there are some good elements but it's IMO too reliant on cards that are bad without synergy and decent with synergy, whereas what you really want are cards that are decent/good without synergy and great with synergy. For instance, Follower of the Way has under-curve stats if not upgraded and becomes slightly above curve with an upgrade. You can also benefit further from Mandalorian synergy. Compare that to Battlefield Marine, which is above curve *base* (and with better stat distribution) and can benefit further from Rebel synergy, of which there seem to be more/better options than for Mandalorian synergy... the Mandalorian option makes you set up a combo in exchange for something that's a bit worse even with the combo and way worse without it! Similarly, Protector of the Throne is a 2/4 no text base (awful), and if you upgrade it it becomes... the same as Cloud City Wing Guard, which is a card that generally doesn't see play. I think this one should have been 2/5 or 3/4 base so that you actually get something valuable in exchange for requiring setup! Right now I think The Darksaber and Mandalorian Armor are the best Mandalorian synergy cards but it's just not good enough IMO. I kinda hope I'm wrong and someone cooks up a cool Mandalorian deck, but that's where I'm at on Bo-Katan at least, I think Gar Saxon has somewhat more potential.
I'm pretty much certain that I'm gonna be playing Sabine Yellow this next format, it feels insanely strong. It was already an amazing deck, that gained a lot of insane cards, like Poe, Wrecker, that work amazing with cards that were already good, namely Sneak Attack and Surprise Strike. I've never been so happy about running Sneak Attack as a 3-of. It feels like you can't lose when you manage to have it and Poe or Wrecker in the same game.
I think they really did a great job with this one! There are probably a few things I would change with the benefit of hindsight but I think as it stands the set is in a really good place -- here's hoping they can keep it up as more sets release!
Maybe? I can see a synergy there for sure but I'm not sure it makes up for Cassian's leader card being generally worse than Sabine/young Han in the same aspect combo (at least IMO).
I liked Leia a lot more before Rebel Assault was previewed, it feels like Sabine can now do the unique thing Leia is supposed to be about while still having a faster deployment timing and an IMO better leader ability.
Leia’s issue isn’t that she’s bad, it’s just that sabine does it better. Like you could make a Leia deck, swap the leader to Sabine and it would probably perform better.

Looking forward to see how the meta plays out. Appreciate the wrap up.

what a legendary first set for the game

I can’t wait to start testing out Han, Rey, Cad Bane, Lando..
As a fan of Lando the character I’m determined to build a Lando the leader deck.
Even IG-88 can work, I took quite hard beating on one game from double red IG with my Cunning Luke.
Do you think Poe will make Cassian better?

Surprised to see you were tempted to rank Leia as C tier. I don't think she's that much worse than Sabine.
