In regards to your comments about health insurance and treatment in the Philippines, another RUclipsr named The Filipina Pea did an interview with an insurance agent in either Dumagetti or Cebu. He stated that the best health insurance that you can get in the Philippines is Pacific Cross and the annual cost is between $12K and $15K. He also listed some of the benefits and that it is accepted in most hospitals in the Philippines and worldwide. BTW I just recently found your channel and so am a new subscriber. Great job.
Always look down when walking along the road or sidewalks in the Philippines. If you are not careful you can end up on the missing persons list from falling into a big hole 😄
First of all, congratulations on getting to over 10 thousand subscribers, your channel is growing pretty fast. Lots of good and honest advice as always with your shared experiences. I’ve only visited Manila three times and each time there was an issue with taxi drivers. One time I got out of the cab when he stopped at a red light. I left the door open until I got my case out of the boot. I have also had it in Cebu also, but only a couple of times out of many taxi rides. You do need to be aware of the scams, but that’s the same wherever you go. Healthcare was the main reason I’ve never moved there full time, but even in the UK now, the healthcare service is not like it was, and has long waiting lists.
I had a taxi scam attempt in Cebu back in 2019. This was my 1st ever visit to the Philippines. I stayed two weeks; I spent 1 week in Cebu and a week on Davao City. With the exception of that one instance the visit and taxi trips were great. Anyways, it began with me flagging down a taxi. After entering the cab, the driver ask did I mind if he turn off the meter? I replied I prefer he kept it on. He said where I was going would be cheaper if the meter was off. I told him I did not have a problem w/the metered rate. So he kept insisting on turning off the meter. I told him never mind and got out of the taxi. I flagged another taxi - an honest driver who took me where I wanted to go. Upon arrival I looked at the meter and paid him double what was on the meter. He immediate said I was paying too much money. I said, no it is the correct rate. I told him what happened with the previous taxi. As I was exiting his taxi I told him, because he was honest and did NOT try to scam me like the other taxi, I am paying him the his [the metered rate] fair and the fair of the other taxi because honesty does pay. Have a good day sir! He was stunned. Weeks before my trip I did some research and learned of this meter scam so when it started to go down I know what was happening. At that time this scam was largely perpetuated by the taxis in Manila. I see it has spread and become more common in Cebu now.
You're right I was going to retire there but decided not to after going there seven times and living there for a while I realized that it's better here in the United States than there economically and medically and now I see it is so expensive there for food and gas and I see a lot of people moving to other countries and leaving the Philippines because of this culture and money hungry women
Very good points are covered in this video. Excellent stuff. BTW, maybe do a sound check first before starting to properly record as the sound here was not the greatest and was distracting at times. I hope this helps. All the best :)
Yes, something was in the background noise level that caused me to pause the video several times. I kept thinking that I had a fan making noise, almost sounded like the ringing in my ears.
Thank you Rubeauti, you're so open and honest. Hope your body has fully recovered! I think the healthcare would put a lot of British people off. We're used to free, high quality care all over the country. Take care lovely lady, love you too! 🥰❤️
Rubeauty, brilliantly practical and informative. I really enjoyed the reality you sketched. This knowledge helps tremendously. Take good care of yourself 🤗
Rubeauti listening to your negatives has reinforced my desire to live in a province area when I retire to the Philippines. Thankfully I am still in good health and have never smoked so I see smoking bans as a positive not a negative. I have ridden motorbikes all of my life so I believe owning a motorbike in the province will be ok and you said there are less corrupt traffic officers in the provinces 🙂. I have been looking at long term rentals and they are so cheap in the province that I would not need to buy property. In terms of longer visits before deciding to live there my plan is to do 3 month visits to different areas before deciding which one to settle in. Thank you so much for being honest about the downsides of living in PI but I still believe that the people and culture make it a very desirable retirement destination with a SRRV. God Bless.
Hi Rubeauti 😊 I am a new subscriber to your site and enjoy the informative advice on different subjects. 👍🏻. I have been to the PI 3 times and enjoyed it very much. I am also another foreigner thinking about retiring there.😎 Have you covered the subject of costs and pros and cons on renting long-term or buying? Also the best location to live taking into consideration of temperatures, typhoons and overall personal safety? Keep up the good work. Take care and stay safe.😁.

Leptospirosis is rare here in the states, and most cases will present as the flu, but my brother contracted this disease and it almost killed him. It screwed up a valve in his heart and shut down his liver and kidneys. Specialists finally figured out what it was and gave him medication and he got better.
You really helping people with your Chanel giving some good insights. I would consider moving there I like simple living and honest down to earth people so thank you.
Miss Rubeati, Thank you for sharing your experience, an eye opener for many.. Q: have you considered moving to middle size city?? I was in Dumaguete and except for the traffic I loved it there..you are correct, no traffic lights, no stop signs, it is actually amazing more accidents don't happen...I was in Dumaguete last month, and as bad luck happens, I landed in the emergency room on my first day arriving to the Philippines...I stayed at the Rovira Hotel, which I give it 4 stars, was excellent, room service was great, and so was the food..I order food to my room or by the pool all day...anyway, since my medical emergency happened late after 10pm, there were no taxis in the area so the front desk called the ambulance for me...the ride to the hospital was free, though I tipped them for the ride...I don't recall the name of the hospital, CDC I think?? but was told it was a private hospital so there were only a few people waiting ahead of me..I was seen within 20 minutes of arrival and was not asked to pay in advance..the cost was about $120.00 US and was seen by a doctor not a nurse..after I was attended, still no taxis, was after midnight so the ambulance gave me a ride to the hotel..ha,ha,ha.. In Dumaguete there isn't much trash, city is fairly clean...it rains about 3 times per week but usually short periods...the longer lasting rain typically happens at night...after 3 weeks there I became acclimated didn't feel so bad..for city travel I used trikes so the cost was about 40 pesos almost anywhere in town.. I also read that Dumaguete is considered one of the top 5 destinations in the world to retire.. 3 weeks later I went to the same hospital for a follow-up and received good treatment by the same doctor.. On 2 occasions the taxi drivers tried to charge me a lot more so I passed on their service and waited on a trike instead...as an investor I've earned enough money where I'm not worried about cost, but don't like it when people want to take advantage of me simple bc I'm a foreigner.....thank you again for sharing your experience with us.. I'm a huge fan of your vlogs.. May the Lord bless and protect you, as I can sense your kind heart..
Duma medical is a joke. I don't even want to waste my time explaining why. Try having an accident there and see what happens. I know too much about it all. Cebu, manila or Baguio... Anywhere else you're gambling with your life
Hi Rubeauti, I am a new subscriber.... from the United States... I've been watching some of your videos and really enjoying the information that you are sharing. thanks😉👍🏽
I have to agree with you on drivers. Years ago I drove my motorcycle from Subic Bay to the American Embassy in Manila. I was cut off like you except by a jeepney. I was forced on to the sidewalk or would of been knockdown like you. Surprising the sidewalk went down a bunch of stairs. I am glad there was no one on the sidewalk at the time. I finally got back on the road and the person I was riding with thought I was doing trick driving or showing off. He didn't realize I was doing that to save a motorcycle crash with injuries. I laughed. but was so scared at the time. Lol
i saw a video of a foreigner using "Grab" ? is that the app? anyways he release his video about 2-3 weeks ago and he said to avoid the taxi line and walk down 2-3 blocks down from the airport and he used the app grab and the taxi got there in 5 minutes and he paid $5usd which is a lot cheaper than the taxi line at the airport.
This is making me rethink my plans to retire to the Phils. Here in the U.S the hospitals are required by law to provide basic healthcare whether the patient can pay or not.
Thank you for posting Rubeauti. I am going to visit Davao in 2024 for an extended period and this will help me ascertain if the Philippines is for me. My Filipina friends from work tell me that this would be the best city for me given my personality. I very much appreciate your work.
Good video! Lots of traffic jams. I try to stay off the road during busy hours but it sounds crazy in Manila with this problem. Midnight till 5am is deserted on the road in my city. That's when I can travel quicker.
Great video. Some sober discussion of the issues in your country. Who would voluntarily want to deal with that traffic stress regardless if you are a driver or pedestrian or just have to get somewhere? It seems like people are forgetting it's still a developing country. To me a reasonably working infrastructure is important, a clean environment, and a climate where I don't need constant showers due to excessive sweating. Those typhoons are also destructive and unpredictable. It's not for the faint of heart. The corruption would be very hard to tolerate as well for someone who has not had to deal with that their whole life.
When it rains, I stay home or if I need to go somewhere I catch a trike and carry an umbrella. I also wear vinyl shoes to protect my feet from all the street bacteria. Don't want to catch a staphylococcus infection on my skin.
When I visited the Philippines in 2019 my fiance turn on Google Map from point A to point B and Google would tell us which way to turn. A couple of taxis that really irritated them. As long as we had that GPS talking telling us where to go we had no problems of course that was on mactan Island in Lapu-Lapu
I totally agree with your advice at the end there about staying for a longer period before deciding to move there permanently, that's good advice regardless of where you're thinking of retiring to. I know this was a list of negative things but as a non-smoker one of the things mentioned is a definite plus to me 😁
Traffic starts at 5am on C-5 and then ends at... well, it never ends actually. The big trucks come out at 9pm. Moved to the Province after a couple of years dealing with that diba.
First time I came there I was thinking I will rent a car when I’m there, going from the airport to the hotel not me driving I had changed my mind. crossing the road is terrifying
Excellent informational vlog, I've experienced most of what you say apart from typhoons!! Yes PH does have it's downsides, where doesn't? But it's major saving grace is the people of PH, even in the worst of times they are resillient, always a smile and always willing to help where they can. I'll be retiring to PH end 2024, already bought the land to build our house (in my future wifes name of course 🤣🤣) a little place called Concepcion in Tarlac 😁one thing you forgot to mention was the dammed mosquitos 🤣🤣
I was charged 800 pesos (Taxi) to go from terminal 3 to intramuros .I got 2 jeepneys and the cost was 12 pesos + 19 pesos. I am a taxi driver in the UK and I know the fare for that would/should be 300 - 400 pesos
@@Rubeauti In case you don't live together with your friends, maybe the water you drink from your house (probably what you drink most often) could have been full of sodium.(If you live with your parents it should have happened to them too logically) And everybody's body is more or less sensitive to different things. The blood was most likely the stones pushing out and scratching the surfaces of the urethra or the surface of the ureters. But the worst part is the quality of the hospital. Especially if it is supposed to be one of the best. I am sure they knew what was going on but didn't care as long as you didn't pay them good
2:35 you mention a motorbike app but I couldn't find it based on what I thought you called it. Please type me the name? Ongas angas? I saw the name on the sleeve of the driver. Playstore doesnt show the app to me because I am in the USA, so I took a screenshot to remember to download it when I get there.
Wonderful video and very informative. Thank you for all of your insight into the good and bad. I hope your fellow filipinos and Filipinas see your insight as constructive, and understand we all nomatter where we live have room for improvement. There's an old saying, people can either are or break a place. And no matter where I go people are all the same. No different. No matter what the culture is.
Hi Rubeauti😊Thankyou for the information and things to watch out for in the Philippines, all sorts of scams everywhere and gold mines to watch out for... 😦Yikes !...I will remember all your warnings👍... Great job and your outfit looks cute...😍
I Love The Philippine. Been going back And Forward since 2000. People are Beautiful. I never have any problems. Because I know People’s. Philippine & Japan My Two Country I Been visiting. United States , My Home , My Family Here. But I Always Visit Baguio City Every Year. Stay 3-4 Months at a time. Philippine is Beautiful Relaxing.😎 Ya Continue Too Stay Safe. Stay Strong...
i drove in Manila and Desmarinas. after London. i found it was ok. very cooperative. yes the progress is slow even if there is no obstacle the speed limit insane low. i broke it all the time... impossible to keep it
@20:50 the garbage can actually be a good thing if you think about for a second. I own a smelter so I can melt metal, I'd take all of the cans then melt them to turn the aluminum into duralumin. Duralumin is a combination of certain metals and it's used to make car parts and airplane parts. You can sell that for good money. The plastic I would heat up to turn into cups to sell. If you get that much trash on a regular basis I would go around collecting it and profiting on it 🤑
The other issue that I had there is that most of the women already have a baby or two even if they're only 20 years old and I don't want to raise somebody else's kid or support their family but it would have been nice to be with someone without all the issues
Here in Sweden, we burn most of the garbage for electricity & district heating. Some areas even have to import garbage from abroad to keep the burners going.
Hi Rubeauti Chris here. The reason you have kidney stones is because of the water. Water that is high in calcium and minerals will cause kidney stones the best thing to do is to drink apple cider vinegar it will break down the kidney stones. start drinking water that is not so high in calcium and minerals. I used to drink distilled water but the problem with distilled water is it's acidic it's not 7.5 on the pH scale the best thing you can do is add apple cider vinegar to your water that should help but you should take at least a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar everyday to help break those kidney stones down
As far as land goes, you can lease the land for 25 years with an option to extend for 25 years. After the lease is over the owner of the land gets their land back. It makes sense if you and your girl break up you can still stay in your house because the lease is in your name. Once lease is over you have to leave and give the land back to owner.
Vitamin B6 supplements can be helpful in the treatment of kidney stones. You should look into it. Eating foods rich in Vitamin B6 should be part of your diet. Cranberry juice can be helpful too. Drink plenty of fluids.
Thank you for this video. It is informative, well organized, and funny. You have a nice voice for videos. Clear. Easily heard. Good enunciation. Deeper tone. ..... BUSINESS / LAND LAWS : Yes! Foreign owners of a business originating in the Philippines may own a maximum of 60% of the organization and profits, but never its real estate. However, foreigners can own 100% of a foreign company but with limitations. Considering your history with mainland Asians, Europeans, and perhaps some Americans, this is not a bad idea.
Some very good advice you give. My wife and I have a house out in the province but as I get close to the retirement age we're going to buy a condo in Manila to be near the better hospitals, hopefully never needing to use them. Pollution is a problem and so is dogs roaming around. You are right about the natural disasters, very worrisome . I have been there seven times but never more than 16 days, I'm going to start building up more more more time to see if I can take the Philippines all year round, that's why I'm keeping a small condo in America.
Honestly, many of the same problems in the US. My neighborhood flooded last September during a hurricane. 🌀 Taxi drivers all over are known for being questionable, which is why Uber and Lyft are so popular. Dog 💩 in most big cities. Bad drivers. 😡 And even though the hospital doesn't make you pay up front, you may get a huge bill later, especially if you have insurance. It seems to me that wherever you are attitude is everything. 😁
You have obviously never been to the Philippines...as is probably the case with most people leaving their brilliant comments, otherwise you'd know that there's zero comparison between a third-world country and the US in pretty much anything, and that in particula is the case-in-point with the Phlippines. It is exactly as bad as described here X100...and yes, it is also a beautiful place, particularly when/if you get to live in your little western bubble, but it has a long way to go when it comes to the filth, traffic, infra-structure, poverty, sanitation in hospitals etc etc etc, and you can't ignore it unless you stay within the resort/gated community. Go there with an open mind and low expectations and accept it as is; then you might have a chance. Cheers
Hi Rubeauti. You are a very intelligent woman and speak English perfectly. You provided very useful information. Thank you. I hope to meet a woman like you there in the future. I am a Canadian living in Japan and am considering moving to the Philippines 🇵🇭.
I rode the metro rail once. Never again. I got to know some Filipinos more intimately than I cared to that day. Think a can of sardines but stuffed to 3x capacity.
I was in the Philippines without aircon and developed itchy heat rashes in my arms, legs, chest and back. When I went back to Washington state, the rashes subsided. I think I would like the cooler temperatures of the higher elevations like in Tagaytay or Baguio.
Thank You Again Rubeuti, I can't do Manila, Cebu area is drawing me, it's centrally located and I'm looking forward to retiring to.PH Keep up the great work and looking forward to your next Vlog
The only thing I can see that is going to be a set back for me is the year round heat I can't take the cold like I used to but even then I do like the season change fall and winter are my favorite times of the year food culture rules and govemental and even system differences can be adapted to but the heat factor is gonna be a challenge year round anyway
I take a mixture of 1 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar...8 ounces of water...and the juice of a whole lemon each and every morning and then again at night. I simply down it in one go. It tastes pretty bad, but the thought of getting kidney stones terrify me after seeing various workmates and friends suffer through the ordeal. I also eat celery with my lunch. Grandmothers used to give celery to their daughters to control their blood pressure while pregnant.

Sadly this is all very true. Driving in the Philippines is like a computer game, where car lights and brakes are optional, small children and dogs will appear out of nowhere, the sidewalk disssaperes and Jeepney and tricycles will stop and start without warning. You have to be super alert, but if you're up for it, it can be very rewarding. Fast toll roads have improved life a lot and the Skyway also makes life much easier - for a price. If you can drive in a major city like London or Bangkok, you can drive in the Philippines. 👍
I’m Filipino. I probably have “good” driving skills because I can drive in Europe and the US. But whenever I do that there, I get goosebumps because I get overwhelmed by a ton of road signs. I’m just not used to that here. Hahaha. I haven’t driven though in Australia and the UK. Just so anxious I’d drive onto oncoming traffic.
You're so right I was going to retire there but decided not to after going there seven times and living there for a while but it's too conflicting so I can't buy a home or property I can only get a condo which I can only air on the airspace and if I got married I can't get divorced if things don't work out between us and the medical there is not that good more people come out of the hospital dead after they go in it then coming out well and the prices there are not that cheap anymore so why retire there as I see so many people leaving

Excellent video packed with good info.
Thank you Rubeauti, you're so open and honest. Hope your body has fully recovered! I think the healthcare would put a lot of British people off. We're used to free, high quality care all over the country. Take care lovely lady, love you too! 🥰❤️
Free, my ass.
Very very good video! Have to say. Probably the best I've seen on this subject! Well done young lady!
Rubeauty, brilliantly practical and informative. I really enjoyed the reality you sketched. This knowledge helps tremendously. Take good care of yourself 🤗
good job thanks!
God Bless.
Hi Rubeauti 😊
I am a new subscriber to your site and enjoy the informative advice on different subjects. 👍🏻.
I have been to the PI 3 times and enjoyed it very much. I am also another foreigner thinking about retiring there.😎
Have you covered the subject of costs and pros and cons on renting long-term or buying? Also the best location to live taking into consideration of temperatures, typhoons and overall personal safety?
Keep up the good work.
Take care and stay safe.😁.

they are empathetic and helpful.
They have a fantastic sense of humour.
They’ll welcome you with open arms

Great video, very informative. After living in the PH for a couple of years, I would say the pros greatly outweigh the negatives. But it does require a lot patience. 🙂
How many countries you have to compare it to? It's a pretty worthless opinion if you only know PH and your home country

Rubeauti, I like your honesty and the time you take to explain. That is important to me.
I always support your views in all you do! Thank you for your honesty and love! I am in love with you forever!! Amen
Leptospirosis is rare here in the states, and most cases will present as the flu, but my brother contracted this disease and it almost killed him. It screwed up a valve in his heart and shut down his liver and kidneys. Specialists finally figured out what it was and gave him medication and he got better.
Thanks!
You really helping people with your Chanel giving some good insights. I would consider moving there I like simple living and honest down to earth people so thank you.
Miss Rubeati,
Thank you for sharing your experience, an eye opener for many..

Hi Rubeauti, I am a new subscriber.... from the United States... I've been watching some of your videos and really enjoying the information that you are sharing. thanks😉👍🏽
Thanks for the great information Rubeauti!
Lol
Thank you for telling the truth about PI. I see a lot of RUclipsrs that paint a rosy picture of PI not being honest. Keep up the good work.
Good info Rubeauti I appreciate it very much keep up the good work 😎🌺
Everything that you have said is 100% right as always your information is very helpful keep up the good work. You look good as usual.
I love listening and learning from you about your country
i saw a video of a foreigner using "Grab" ? is that the app? anyways he release his video about 2-3 weeks ago and he said to avoid the taxi line and walk down 2-3 blocks down from the airport and he used the app grab and the taxi got there in 5 minutes and he paid $5usd which is a lot cheaper than the taxi line at the airport.
@@Rubeauti why is that?

Thank you for sharing the facts regarding your beautiful country. 💯
Great vídeo. Very informative. I want to see Taguig now. Thank you.
Great information. So sorry you had kidney stones very painful. Thanks for sharing
Great information Rubeati, and you look fantastic! Thank you 😊
It is very nice that you tell us all this and that you are so honest. Thanks .
Smart :)
I totally agree with your advice at the end there about staying for a longer period before deciding to move there permanently, that's good advice regardless of where you're thinking of retiring to. I know this was a list of negative things but as a non-smoker one of the things mentioned is a definite plus to me 😁
likewise on the smoking ban enforcement .. a HUGE plus for me as well !!
Another Fantastic Video!!! I did learn alot of this During 4 months of Research!! And alot of videos about Taxi's!!
Spot on Ate 🙏🏽
I was charged 800 pesos (Taxi) to go from terminal 3 to intramuros .I got 2 jeepneys and the cost was 12 pesos + 19 pesos. I am a taxi driver in the UK and I know the fare for that would/should be 300 - 400 pesos

Can easily happen if you drink water from a water source that doesn't have filtered water and contains lots of sodium

Some areas even have to import garbage from abroad to keep the burners going.
yes people in Philippines always have a smile
Hi Rubeauti Chris here. The reason you have kidney stones is because of the water. Water that is high in calcium and minerals will cause kidney stones the best thing to do is to drink apple cider vinegar it will break down the kidney stones. start drinking water that is not so high in calcium and minerals. I used to drink distilled water but the problem with distilled water is it's acidic it's not 7.5 on the pH scale the best thing you can do is add apple cider vinegar to your water that should help but you should take at least a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar everyday to help break those kidney stones down
Thanks Chris, was well worth my time reading your comment.👍 I always drink bottle water but I did notice heaps of people get stones there.
Great Video Thanks !
Thanks Ate. Always a good watch.
You
should look into it.
Cheers
@@lbj4993 Truth bomb. Well said.
This gives me something to think about. I'm not an older guy, but I'll be making my way to the Philippines soon!
Thank you gave a lot good information helpful as from would need to know ❤thanks

The only thing I can see that is going to be a set back for me is the year round heat I can't take the cold like I used to but even then I do like the season change fall and winter are my favorite times of the year food culture rules and govemental and even system differences can be adapted to but the heat factor is gonna be a challenge year round anyway
It's the humidity that's a killer. The rainy season now is really tough for alot of foreigners not used to such high humidity.

Very helpful, I wonder if there are less scammers in the province.
