I ran into him here in Denton for the 35 Festival. He was such a sweet dude to talk to and no to mention before the show he came out and asked the crowd what we wanted to hear! He took 3 of my requests!
Man, Doug is a fucking top tier type of guy. None of the cynical, disingenuous, horseshit irony so many musicians in the indie scene during the early to mid 90s were swept up into None of the overwrought saccharine new sincerity style of shit that characterized the indie community's attempt to remedy that cynicism Perfectly nails the appearance mix of the underpaid small town guitar teacher who doesn't give you shit about your playing you can't handle despite you being godawful at the instrument and the computer repair guy who, in the back of your mind, you know found your secret fetish porn folder/links but doesn't treat you any differently
Man I saw them 4 days ago and all I wanted to do was just talk to those guys for just a little bit. But then I was thinking Christ theres 200 people in here Im sure other people want to do they same, they looked pretty tired and shit... I mean its weird we know a good deal about these guys and feel some semblance of connection with them, but we are complete strangers. Must feel awkward when someone comes up like Doug youre so cool, I know this and this about you. But damn.
Doug Martsch is a musical genius
Dude, he is locked onto her with the eye contact. That is unwavering!

I stayed after a show and talked with him in Providence, RI. He was super laid back and cool. Talked with us for about 10 minutes.
