What makes a perfect anchorage? Obviously beautiful surroundings and a sense of isolation. Also crystal clear water and space to explore ashore. But maybe the most important thing about a perfect anchorage is when the journey to get there is a difficult one. We’re currently on a mission to explore the South West Coast of Turkey. This region is full of breathtaking scenery and pristine anchorages. But it’s also renown for unpredictable weather and challenging anchoring conditions. This week after sailing through strong winds we find one of our favorite anchorages of all time. But we hadn’t planned on being off-grid for so long, so as we begin to run out of food we have to figure out some creative ways to survive out here in our own little slice of paradise.

Isabella is absolutely adorable. Hate to say it, but she and Oso are the stars of the channel.
They should start their own channel. 😅
Did I miss something about Isabella’s health and her treatment? She just looks so well and happy these days and you guys seems so much more relaxed with her. Did you get some really good news about her? Certainly the mark on her face is barely visible these days or is it just hidden behind her lovely little tan?
Right? 😂
This is called 'Serçe Limanı' I anchored once with my boat while sailing alone; it's a very important underwater archeological site that bw the years of 1977-79 there was a research for a shipwreck which contains beautiful glass objects.. it is displayed in Bodrum Underwater Archeological Museum nowadays.. people in Turkey are very helpful for anything don't hesitate if you need something, love watching your adventures, fair winds..
Another great episode.
One thing I learned in Turkey, everyone is friendly, but if you venture even a couple of kilometers off the tourist circuit, that hospitality goes off the charts. Some of the kindest, most helpful people I've ever met.
Enjoying vicariously a life with you that I will never have an opportunity to experience is such a privilege. Thanks especially for this episode.
I'm so impressed by you two (4 really!), but I get lost in your fabulous videos and forget that you are the ones also shooting your videos! It seems so effortless or seamless, I'm not sure of the right word for this. You are very impressive as a couple, parents, adventurers, and videographers! Thank you for this excitement in my otherwise drab existence!
Having virtually no sailing experience I always find it somewhat funny when a sailor says "its to much wind"! I totally understand why it can be to windy but it just seems odd to hear it said? 😊 love how little Isa knows to bury herself into the corner of her play area for greater stability. Well done Baby Isa!!
If you had any experience you would 'too much wind' not find funny!
I have been watch you guys now for years. Being old and incapacitated makes me a homebody, and I look forward to your episodes every Saturday night. (Australia) I also watch Zatara, Delos, La Vagbonde, Doodles, Delos, Parlay, Nohoa, Gone with the Wynns, Kristina's Travels and Cruising Kiwis. I must say, you guys quality of content and likeability have soured as time passes. I'd like to thank you for the time and effort you put into your episodes. I can only imagine the stress it must be to do this type of work. Great work.
I'm in Aus too love this channel. Another great one is Sailing Magic Carpet. 👍
I also watch Sailing Uma but they have been working on their boat in Sardinia for ages.
think you might have meant soared, rather than soured. 👍
@@SeanHendyI’m glad you pointed that out, I was confused & couldn’t think of what word it could’ve been!! LOL! (I just knew that she wasn’t being “negative”….)
Thanks for sharing your life with us every Saturday morning. I love to get my coffee and watch with my 2 year old daughter. I’m not sure who she loves most “puppy” “baby”.
Little Isabella looks just like dad. She is soo cute and adorable.
Excellent video! Isabella is beautiful and when she grows up she can watch these videos and share these moments with her family all over again! ❤
To avoid chafing away at your beautiful yellow polypropylene shore lines, get some 2-3m chains attached into a loop with a quick link. They will neatly fall into place in cracks and even around underwater rock formations (carefully so as to not do any damage to the environment). Then tie off to those chains. I’ve been doing it since 2006. You can also use metal wedges to hammer into cracks and then tie onto them. Climbing gear is quite good to use as well with different nuts and hexes. My boat will be back in the water in 4 weeks time in western Greece, so maybe we’ll meet somewhere.
Ah beautiful place, beautiful boat, beautiful life, beautiful family; what more could you want................ meat! 🐕
I know I’ve said this before but this was almost the perfect episode. A little bit of sailing and some exploring. Well done again.
Jordan, you guys need to get a fishing pole or speargun to help with the food gathering. 🐠
Beautiful bay! View from the hill is landscape picture worthy. Did not expect to see a hair loss commercial, but I guess it pays the bills.
Fetch isn't simply the length of open water currently being transited, it's the distance of water over which winds blows in an essentially constant direction, thus generating swell/waves.
We love watching Asia grow up with you guys
Who is Asia?? Did l miss something ?
@@laurettecastellano2830 Auto Correct chaged Isa to Asia

You can correct it. Lol

Excellent videos. I started following you all in the last month. I love how you live your lives. Honestly, safer than a child in a car seat. As families grow so do the dynamics.
If desperate fish! Octopus and small bream are pretty easy to find and catch. In Austumn there will be lobster around.
Seriously, I’m a meat eater & that rice & beans dish you have there made my mouth water. I really think y’all are amazing cooks & foodies. Y’all should make more foodie content. I’ve been with y’all from the beginning and really think you could pull off great sailing offshore food content. Provisioning, meal planning, recipes offshore, cookware, storage challenges, etc. I’d watch it 😎 Isa has my heart, she’s so amazing!
Hey Jordan! Use a mushroom anchor and chock it into the rocks! Quick, easy, etc
Your hair does look great. I remember when you were doing "UmAtticus: suck through the pain" and you said something to the effect of as long as it doesn't involve getting your hair messed up. Jordan talking getting murdered and Dez saying she's gonna get haunted, I think yall watch too many horror flicks! Sailors and beggers, you have it made. Great job on the editing, even better job on the beans and rice.
The wind is coming from the mountains of Kos, in Cerge Limani is road acces. Mostly there are some boys who would do shoppings for you. Buy there pine honey, it’s green and it tastes very well.
Hi family. I’m a huge fan. That anchorage is a beautiful lay up spot.
Ahhh, rice and beans for dinner at a 5🌟 restaurant/ boat!!
A h h, You're here again.
And such a delight. I tell you what, Isabella won't be a baby much longer But a pretty little girl with a good heart i'm sure. I enjoy your adventures as i'm sure everybody else does. Like to see your M e a l s. You all are A good looking trio And can't leave cute little Also out. Thanks so much for bringing us along.
And hopefully catch you next saturday.❤❤❤
Thank you the fun, adventure and education.
You should sail all the way to Antalya. Most beautiful scenes and archeological sites are waiting for you!!!
Its weird in a nice way. That’s my country and American country music is playing on the backdrop. Travelers make the world a better place.
Rice and beans is a go to meal for Turkish people. Rich or poor, all of us are fair game for a plate of rice and beans.
I loved your hat it’s awesome!
Did I tell you that Isabella is adorable? 😍😍🥰
Brilliant episode you guys! Love your reflections on location, culture, people, and nature. "At least there's a cow," ya, and i laughed a bunch of times ☺ Desiree, " The mountains are hugging us," pretty special when those times/feelings appear and that you recognize, maybe how sacred those times are. Thanks for the story you've weaved this week...☺
It is nice to see you again guys! Shame we are following you a month behind!
So, there is no chance to meet you guys unless by accident 😂
Isabella is a blessing and amazing! Nazar değmesin! We say in Türkish.
Don't or cannot you fish for food?
Thank you very much for sharing your amazing life, adventure with us?
Keep safe and take care of each other!
Thanks for sharing your video. Always enjoy Saturday morning coffee with Atticus. Isabella is growing up so fast, so adorable. Love it when Oso was kissing her face. Great video.
Isabella is the cutest !! Loved your hikes, kayaking, and hug by mountains… 🇨🇦 ❤
Nice tie in with the male pattern baldness Jordan, you're getting so good at product promotion I am reminded of the Sham Wow guy .... well the good parts of the Sham Wow guy that is! 👏 Your videos guys are truly some of if not the best from the YT sailing community!
Sorry Jordan, but I about spit my coffee with the idea of you staring at rocks. I laughed because that would be me. Lol!
@ProjectAtticus Most autopilots have a "gain" setting. Crank or the gain sailing down wind. Use a lower setting for other wind angles or it will over shoot the corrections and zig zag.
Cool video! Would love to hear more of your own personal story, how you guys met, what cuba was like. You always keep your videos interesting. Thank you for sharing❤
Thanks so much! Check out our recap series 😁ruclips.net/p/PLOdfI7CmkSxjLiwQoH1CKRvyrlboNg5S_&si=NDVm_B-6IkZYi7Ew
@@ProjectAtticus I've watched it all. It's great!
9:30 😂 Following you two plus one plus one more for a few years. I have to admit: I never once thought "Jordan has really nice hair!". 😂
My wife and I just got our boat. We will be joining the cruising ranks within a few months. Look forward to seeing yall out there!
Hi guys, thanks for the wonderful video. That place looks fantastic. Isabella is growing up so much. She is such a beautiful young girl. I look after my grandson every Monday. He is two years old and I just have a lot of fun with him because he learnt so much Isabella is the same. He learns every day something new and that’s fantastic to see. Anyway keep up the good work. Really appreciate you all, Cliff from Australia
What a great trail you guys found, it’s got a great feeling….that looks like a Berm House, that’s partially underground. I looked at some properties that had one on each of them and they were probably used to round up livestock because there were pens with them too. That looks like such a beautiful anchorage, I can see why you want to stay longer, but then you guy’s have always picked the most perfect places to visit , no matter where everyone else is going. I’ve noticed that the places that you choose to visit , say so much about your personality and the way you want to live your life……I like less people, great food and beautiful scenery….. so everywhere you have been!! 🍀
What another gem. 😎 Your “rice and beans” looked delicious! (And Jordan does have amazing hair.) 😁😎🥰❤️❤️❤️
Adventure in the wilderness.
I like your new sponsor. Everyone needs a good set of hair. ;-D
Do you really want to tie up to very rough rocks ashore with normal line without extra protection for the line? Options include woven tubing, plastic tubing, and even old garden house
You are a great family and I love your videos. I hope one day I can sail around the world with my family like you.
ALWYAS good to See your World GOD Bless🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😍😍😍😍
Isabella! What a sweetie! Thank you for these wonderful vids.
Isabella's got this mountaineering thing down :-)!
Hello guys👋. Your child is wonderful. Very wonderful for you of course. I love children. I have three and I have been sailn with all of them since they were 6-9 months old. May I say that perhaps you may rbe estricting your audience, broadly speaking, if this audience is more interested by you sailing, coping and aventuring, keeping the “family” life present, but discretely in the background. Thank you for your excellent videos.
Awesome video. Isa is way too cute and Oso thinks he’s a big dog. ❤🙌🏼🙏🏻
Oh my gosh that Anchorage is so absolutely beautiful. Wow!
PeaceAndLove
Lori
Need to up your fishing game guys. 🐠
Very nice video 📹 👍 👌 ❤❤❤❤.
Great episode! Love how you let us in on your little slice of heaven. ❤
Thank you for another exciting video. I think it is great, and safe, how you can make sail changes from the cockpit. From the short underwater video, I noticed there weren't any or many fish.
what a great place! its like you own the island
Desiere - that building for me is kind of typical: Some people create a business far away at an anchorage and far away from authorities (Tax office).
We hat a week charter around Bodrum in the season. Nearly every bay had such a restaurant. We visited many, took a lot of money (less than Bodrum or Turgutreis) and was ALWAYS fantastic.
You are there off season so its not feasible to operate it. Maybe later that year.
Wow what a beautiful place!
Another fascinating video, thanks family
I>>>> Your videos tell a beautiful story!! With a new chapter each week. *** Thank You!! For bringing joy & wonder to my life.
We had a 16ft tandem kayak dinghy. It was our first dinghy. We fit two kids and two adults into it. Ironically our first sail boat was only 22ft!!!
If you wanted to anchor off the Greek island to shelter from the weather, it would be perfectly legal if you claim force majeure. Obviously this is subjective, but I doubt Greek authorities would give you any trouble.
Big fan - love watching the videos!
Wow Sailor great episode ❤
God bless those guys for giving u eggs
Great episode, and indeed GREAT hair !
Turkey really looks inviting. O' I hope you can keep your hair till 37.
Very cool anchorage .....as you said it has it all...except food...lol.
Great video!
Great video Thanks :)
omg,,,i think you guys are heading to Marmaris ...Stop by Gebe Kilise koyu, or Ciftlik. There are some restaurants-markets at ciftlik as well if you want to have some food. Turunc is nice but crowded and expensive..And you should go to Gocek and its surroundings as well.
You guys miss a lot of healthy protein by not fishing or spear fishing. I watch an Australian couple explore uninhabited islands, and they live off of fish they shoot or catch, mud crabs, potatoes, rice, and a few other things they carry on their boat. I follow three sailing channels, and I lost count, but have seen at least a hundred best, most scenic, perfect anchorages since I started watching RUclips during Covid. I think you were around Boca del Toro at the time, then I went back to your first video and caught up watching an episode each evening. So many perfect anchorages... 😎
Oh Jordan it's good for you to 'not' have animal products everyday. 😊🌱💚 Great video...amazing spot
Looking for food while on a boat is kind of wild🤣
🎣
New to the channel.. very cool to see what you guys are doing. Loved your commentary and appreciation of life! Don’t eat the dog though! 😂
Isabella è sempre più bella! Complimenti!
Jordan try your hand at catching lobster or fish for a delicious seafood dinner😋
I love you, you are a very beautiful family, you travel very well, Izabella is a wonderful child, I envy you😃 have a nice trip, come to Turkey more often, please bye bye
Epic as always! Are you just using esims for the EU region for your phones to work?
Finally, where do you get your sponsors from? Hair loss😂
Do they get in touch with you after watching your videos or you are actively reaching out?
Love the video. Thank you for showing such wonderful places as you travel. Jordan just wondering do you guy’s not fish? If you maybe could learn to dive for Lobster or give a try at fishing you could provide for food and have fun at same time.
I have been waiting all week for this...
5:17 Opps danger zone :D its too complicated
Love you guys !!!
What a wonderful family you have….Bravo Zulu and love from Australia
Great video! Love your family!! As for Symi,or all the land around there, most of that used to be Greek long time ago! So that's why the strange "arrangement"! And to be clear i admit that Turkey is much more boat friendly than Greece and i am not speaking hatefully for Turkey,i just wanted to "correct" you on that comment! Keep up the beautiful videos!! ❤
And i am not speaking hatefully for Greece either but since many people are watching these videos, I don't want them to have misinformation about the issue. All lands around the island have been under Turkish rule uninterruptedly since 1206. After that date no Greek administration has ever been reestablished and local population was mixed Turkish and Greek un until 1920s. So yes it was once Greek. But very very long time ago. Like 800 years ago. As for the island of Symi, it was an Ottoman island from 1522 up until 1912. The indigenous population was again mixed until that date.
Thank you for the information!! Didn't know so many details!I find that both are beautiful and it's a dream to visit Turkey!! Cheers!! 💐
@@carolyngrgd8732 What a nice thing to say. I didn't expect that. Thank you very much. I thought you were Greek and was expecting a harsh or sarcastic response. Instead, I get a friendly and polite response from a British or an American (I assume you are British or American). This is the second time this has happened. Cheers!
I am Greek!! I meant every word i said!We as people i don't think we have anything to argue about!!You gave me information i didn't know about! As i said i think Greece,as well as Turkey are both beautiful and neighbours for years 😁😁,so giving information to one another is only a win-win situation!!Have a nice night!! 🤩
@@carolyngrgd8732 Have a nice day to you too. I think what you say is right. Thank you for your open-minded and kind-hearted attitude.
There called tortoise🐢 ❤
Fishing 🐟?
Jordan, how much wild life you see when under water? A seems like many of the videos I’ve seen very few fish to be seen. Wonder what’s up?
This coastline has been Greek for thousands of years. Up until the 1920's although it was a Turkish territory, the coastline was still inhabited by ethnic Greeks. So you can't say it's weird these islands are Greek. It is the Turks that pushed back the Greeks. Not the other way around
Very well said! Correct! Please as mentioned also above ...@sailing project atticus...please be mindful about these type of comments...there is a lot of history and politics behind what spears to be a peaceful scenery to you currently!
The territory has been Turkish for close to a thousand years. Yes, Greeks lived on the territory but so did Turks together with them under Ottomans rule. Population exchange at the end of the Greco-Turkish war meant Greeks left Turkey and Turks left Greece
Well done Atticus! You guys ROCK!❤😎
I do not believe you do not carry package food. Where is your fishing gear and spear gun?
Hey guys, I was not able to find the brand of your inflatable kayak on your webpage. Can you advise?
Guys what type of kayak do you have. It looks great.
I am also curious about the Kayak! What brand is it?
There is meat right below you in the water waiting for you to catch it
👍
Isa!
Experiencing these weird winds you now know why it took good old Odysseus ten years to sail back home from Troy.
👍👍👍👍👍
weird question.... i dig jordans blue flannel. make/model?
