Pineda has an incredible voice. Perry had an high range for a man. Perry was singing opera to rock music. Pineda picked the hardest person for a man to sing to, and is not only doing it, he is exceeding it. It does not diminish Steve Perry to have another singer perform his works, and reproduce them. It immortalizes him.

There will always be comparisons, particularly since one of the big reasons that Pineda was selected and works so well is that he is a similar singer. The old hits were constructed for Perry's style, and a good singer with a different style wouldn't work. Personally, I think Pineda's awesome.

I found great enjoyment from this. I was entertained. They sound great. Arnel is also pretty easy on the eyes. That counts some. I love Steve Perry and I love Arnel. It's like Pink Floyd you'll never see them tour again and that sucks cause Floyd fans are missing going to see them. His voice is so incredible, and powerful. I almost think he is better than Perry. His vocals need to mature, and it is a slow process, but ultimately, I think he will end up having a stronger voice. This is as good as it gets when listening to and discussing singers.
I think A penida knows the big shoes he needs to show he can accomplish it. But with singing, it s a God blessing and can not be learned but it inspire people to step up specially given a chance for a life time security for Ariel and his family. Will it be OK if Soto or Augeri replaces Perry? Any card except with dots?
If you're asking that question then you've obviously never heard Perry sing. I like JSS but Perry will always be "The Voice" of Journey. Period. Perry took the band to new heights and they probably could of made it without a vocalist but I doubt they'd have the same amount of success had Herbie Herbert not brought Perry into Journey.
