For her own safety while she was in what she thought was her Uber, she was constantly sharing her location with him. He became alarmed as soon as he saw the Uber driving away from her home. He tried calling then the phone was shut off. He was the one calling her friends. And the one who got the investigation started! So tragic

The "Uber" story hits so close to home because when I was younger I ordered a taxi and someone had tuned into the cab office radio and got my details, when he pulled up and said my name I felt ok but my gut was screaming something isn't right, thankfully I noticed he didn't have the stickers/badges required by cab drivers and declined the ride, saying sorry I've changed my mind, he became aggressive and got out of the car but I was one heck of a runner in my teens so was able to get away and call police. Please be careful about who you're getting into a car with, even if you have booked the Uber, check the license plate, ask him to clarify the details of the pick up and just do all you can to check authenticity of your ride! Stay safe ❤️
That's true English. I make sure to look at make and model of expected uber car and I also walk in front of car and match the license plates to what's in my phone. And I still be paranoid sometimes. Too much going on.

Even 7 years later, I had a really hard time listing to you narrate Christina Grimmie's story. Her death was so senseless and so shocking, my heart broke so badly. I remember sobbing in my husband's arms when I first heard the news. She was such a beautiful person; body, heart and soul and she deserved so much better than such a horrible end. I pray she at least didn't have time to suffer from her injuries. RIP Christina

Yeah, me too. She was such a sweet girl and didn’t deserve that. There are people on this planet that are so out of their minds. Where they think murder is the only solution.
Don't worry I told her on her first comment on her first video that she's going to die in 5 years and to not go to the concert and sign autographs so she will not die :)
I cannot even imagine what Samantha would have been going through in her final moments. The fear, sadness, the horror, the shock and pain of being stabbed over 100 times and taking over 10 minutes to die. How awful 😔 Rest in peace beautiful girl. You never deserved this
@@JoeBidensDroolBib I think since they're supposed to be for families in cars and their kids in the back and since kids can't be driving cars the parents do that but they might accidentally open the backseat door and they go bye bye that's the main reason, and incase of emergency I guess they'll just open the lock and get them out ? Idk how cars work that much.
I NEVER find the "secret in todays episode" because I'm too damned engrossed in what MrBallen has to say and the stories he brings us. Thank you so much x
Oh the minute he said Christina’s name my heart as I’ve known this story very well from when happened. I was heartbroken when it happened, I had been a huge fan of hers my years before she was on The Voice. I still have her music on my phone and heart still aches for her. She was a gem for so many reasons and I remember being in shock snd numb when this happened.
That young lady was a bright star of pure goodness in this world. I don't even like pop, but her voice was angelic and her personality was infectious. Christina Grimmie is one of the very few celebrity deaths that actually made me feel something. I remember crying when it came over the news. If there's a Hell, Kevin's rotting in it.
I started crying as soon as he said her name. My son loved her music and he was absolutely heartbroken when she was killed. He was 13 when it happened.
I go to USC and Samantha died right before I was starting as a freshmen. Everyone knows Five Points is the most dangerous place in Columbia, and you NEVER go alone and NEVER leave alone… she was a huge wake up call for people who became complacent. Later I found out the killer had been taught by one of my high school teachers (different school), and that he dumped her body eerily close to my hometown. Absolutely tragic.
Grew up there and graduated from USC. I was at USC when Dail Dinwiddie disappeared from Five Points. She's never been found, and 25 or so years later, her case is still under investigation. There is so much to that story...psychics were brought in, etc. A few months after her disappearance, I went for a job interview, and the guy interviewing me randomly started asking me what I thought happened to Dail Dinwiddie. I got spooked by his demeanor and questions and just left. I still wonder to this day if he knew more than he was saying, and if that's why he was wanting to know if I knew her and stuff. Never saw him or his company again. Super creepy. If you gotta visit Five Points, go with a group and leave with a group! ✌️❤💪🙏😁
I was born and raised there. You just told a lie for attention. The vista and 5 points (both near USC) are the safest in Columbia for night life. It’s very sad what happen to these two ladies, but people everywhere have to be careful while out on the town drinking because you’re intoxicated. These are isolated incidents and decades between.
Both murders are horrific but I can only imagine how Samantha felt that whole ride😭😭! I’ve fallen asleep in Ubers coming back from the club 😬 (granted I had a bestie in the car too) but I totally get letting your guard down cause it becomes routine. I always check the license plate, look at their photo, make sure there’s no other passengers in the car, and make them tell me their name/mine. I’ll refuse the ride and report them if they check off any of these red flags. I’m still paranoid tho so I always keep my keys between my fingers and sometimes my taser hid btw my thighs just to be safe 😢. Why is the world like this 🤦🏽♀️😖...
Adam Levine actually ended up paying for Christina's funeral, and a lot of celebrity singers were so deeply saddened by the loss of her and her wonderful talents. She will forever remain one of the greatest performers to ever appear on that show. ❤

My brother is an ER physician and he can deal with all the blood and gore from accidents but he says he always feels disturbed when dealing with injuries that people inflict on others, like when someone comes in stabbed or shot multiple times. It just bothers him that someone can do that to someone else. Also, when he sees injuries inflicted on children-that bothers him. He can't show it, of course, but it's hard.
I love how Mr. Ballen spoke about youtubers as if he's not literally one of the best out there but you would never know it by talking to him. Just so humble and absolutely awesome! Definitely one of my favorite parts of the week!
My mom actually worked at the Washoe county hospital when he came in. She was friends with the X-ray technician who took his x-rays, who was also the mom of my sisters boyfriend at the time. I remember seeing the photos they took and hearing the story, I was 12. He had insane luck!

For anyone that doesn’t know this, UBER drivers have a UBER STICKER on their vehicle. If you don’t see that sticker and or are unsure, do not enter any vehicle. Contact Uber and get clarification.
When you order an Uber in the app, the app will first show you a picture of the driver's face and a detailed description of the car. How in the world did he accomplish that? The app also shows you a real time map with a car emoji moving towards you with a countdown of time to zero minutes; this way you can see how far he was starting and how long it will take him to reach you. I've Uber so many times and that's how it works. Forget the stupid sticker.
@@dunhill1 A lot of people don't pay that much attention to this stuff, or at least don't always. Samantha was probably a fairly trusting person, and up until this point in her life, she had no reason not to be. She also may have been drunk, or very tired, or distracted, which would've affected her attention to detail here. This could've happened to so many people. Samantha was just the unlucky one. :( Hopefully her story will at least continue to raise awareness for other rideshare users.
@@hapabear You very well may be correct and if 100% true, that is very sad because it means that this horrific murder was easily avoidable if a) she was not so drunk or b) complete disregard to the app & it's info that it shares with riders. One would also think that single young women are always cautious and putting their safety first. This is equivalent to walking alone down a dark alley. I wish one of her friends inside the bar escorted her outside and ensured she got into an actual Uber, knowing that she was so inebriated. Yes, i also hope it brings awareness in how to use rideshare services. RIP Samantha.
When Uber first appeared in my coutry, the cars weren't marked in any way. It was only around 2 years ago that a law was passed that obliged the Uber drivers to have markings on their cars.
I feel worse for Christina's brother, She's resting peacefully but her brother has the hardest job a brother can do, and that's staying alive even after seeing everything that happened first hand and tackled the man who killed his very own sister. I think the most fearful part of Samantha’s story is that she probably at some point got a notification that her Uber was waiting for her or something along those lines while she was in the backseat of what she thought WAS her Uber driver. The panic that ensues would likely be nauseating to say the least… RIP
One of the other sad things about Samantha's case is that her boyfriend, (might have been her fiancee, even), had been trying to find her when she left the bar, too. So he was actually watching in real time on his Find My Friends app as her murderer drove her further and further away, until the signal dropped. He was completely devastated. This caused Uber to change their security policies, although it took them awhile. That's why you now see lit Uber and Lyft signs in the car windows, driver photos, names, car photos, and license plate numbers on the app itself.

The third story, Samantha’s boyfriend/fiancé had an app that actually tracked loved ones, this was so he could make sure that she was on her way home, he even stayed on the phone with her while she waited for her Uber. When she got in the Uber Samantha hung up and he watched the tracker going in the opposite direction of her home. Just let that sink in, watching this loved one kidnapped in real time. That just chills me.
I also heard this story before. I first thought it was another similar story MrBallen told us, but I now remember it was from a Coffeehouse Crime video.

@@KichiZone The murderer is guilty, yes, but the young woman is dead. Whether she was in the right or wrong in the situation doesn't make her less dead, and it's probably best not to depend on the morals of the murderer to tell him not to murder. Christina Grimmie's death was one of the saddest passings because she was so loved by her audience. Everyone adored her and everyone knew she was going to be a huge star one day (more than she already was) and her relationship with her mother throughout the show made it even more sad.
And to think she was going to hug a friend.. she didn’t blow him off, she wasn’t unkind. She was going to hug him which is what he indicated he wanted.. then he murdered her in front of her family and fans. When I first heard I couldn’t even believe that was true. Like I was so devastated. She was reaching her dreams and a “fan” took that from her..

I went to the University of South Carolina when the last story happened. 2 things that make it even more chilling. First, Samanthas boyfriend was tracking her location watching her drive in the wrong direction until her phone was shut off/died. The second detail is Rowland was arrested down the street from where he picked Samantha up, presumably trying to commit another murder
Imagine trying to stay safe by calling an Uber for a couple minute drive instead of walking and this happens. Pure evil. Same with Christina, she was just being kind and gets killed. And don't get me started on the drill. Ron needs to play the lottery.
Yeah, it's infuriating that someone was selfish enough to carry that mindset, then turn around and be such a coward, and not take any accountability. (by offing himself, let me clarify that.)
I'm wondering why 'merica isn't trying to improve. Those psychopaths generally never exist outside of the U.S. It's like that side of the world isn't taking mental health seriously and ends up with a lot of people randomly killing others.
Christina Grimmie still makes me sad. She’s the first artist who made me discover covers in RUclips when she sang Just a Dream with Sam. I remember sobbing in my husband's arms when I first heard the news. She was such a beautiful person; body, heart and soul and she deserved so much better than such a horrible end. I pray she at least didn't have time to suffer from her injuries. RIP Christina
The fact that Christina was opening her arms to hug that guy when he shot her just makes it all the more heartbreaking 💔

@@jenisays2 Wow that’s terrifying. I definitely never go alone and never leave alone! Glad you’re ok!

For anyone that doesn’t know this, UBER drivers have a UBER STICKER on their vehicle. If you don’t see that sticker and or are unsure, do not enter any vehicle. Contact Uber and get clarification.
stickers are easy to make
When you order an Uber in the app, the app will first show you a picture of the driver's face and a detailed description of the car.
Hopefully her story will at least continue to raise awareness for other rideshare users.

One of the other sad things about Samantha's case is that her boyfriend, (might have been her fiancee, even), had been trying to find her when she left the bar, too. So he was actually watching in real time on his Find My Friends app as her murderer drove her further and further away, until the signal dropped. He was completely devastated.

Christina Grimmie's death was one of the saddest passings because she was so loved by her audience. Everyone adored her and everyone knew she was going to be a huge star one day (more than she already was) and her relationship with her mother throughout the show made it even more sad.

That story about Christina really just breaks my heart. She had her whole life ahead of her. May that evil man rot in hell for doing what he did.

When you become famous you never know how your life will be. It's so uncertain when someone puts themselves out there!! So sad we have the obsessed who ruin lives!!
and now her story has been monetised, f*cking sad
Mr.ballen is a very great story teller and I love hearing him tell because he's able to paint a very clear picture of the events and actions the people went through and it really shows he's a master of his craft and tells them so effortlessly!! Gotta love him!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
11:24 Mr. Ballen you're definitely a friend to each and everyone of us. Thank you for your service and for taking the time to make these amazing videos. Keep it up my man.
Ron's x-ray gave me chills! I can't believe it didn't puncture his brain!! Such an insane story and I'm so glad that he was okay!
Same with me
So happy mr beIIend uploaded!
Yes..seems it went under his brain. The picture is surreal.
Who?
@@jayjustice7142 mr Ballen!
That's beyond heartbreaking what happened to Christina! She was chasing her dream and making it a reality and because of someone else's illness she lost her life! Brutal. Rip Christina
Wouldn’t call it “illness,” more like evil.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@JaEDLanc The dude was nuts, aka mental illness and if he would've been medicated she'd probably still b here
its not an illness its just pure evil. he may be what people call "Sick" but dont compare him and his evilness to people who have illness
@@paddy404 I worked in a psych unit. This is evil not mental illness.
3:22 the discomfort hearing that
Fascinating stuff. But heartbreaking too. Please if you feel hopeless about a crush..seek help from a therapist..dont hurt that person for daring to not go out with you!!...on a lighter note Also love that you have the giant skeleton decoration!!
That construction worker should get a limited shirt that says "I survived a MrBallen story"
Love the idea. You know that person is a beast
I'm so happy to hear Ron survived... This is a wild story!
It was a miracle!

he learned a painful lesson, practice safety on the job site

@@iwonderwhatmydognamedme4000 nope. he should have known better than to stand on the top part of the ladder. this was an easily avoidable accident that could have been his life
Until I started watching this channel, I only went to therapy once a month. Now, due to binging, I have to go once a week🥴 Why we are so curious as humans, to hear these kinds of situations, is beyond me, but I’m hooked!!
Thank you for your service Mr. Ballen!!
Damn… Mr. Ballen hitting me in the heart strings … I saw Christina’s first uploads as she would post them, I remembered her vividly because I was a preteen that had a huge crush and was in love with her style and her voice, insane to hear you talk about it
You strike me as the guy your friends call when they need an alibi for something. "Oh yeah, he was with me. You see, at 9:15pm, we arrived at the McDonald's for burgers. This wasn't out of the ordinary for us, we love McDonald's, and we just happened to have the time.."
Love you buddy, you're an inspiration.
Lol actually giving too much information is usually a sign of deception, but I know what you mean. He seems like a super camping friend. Survival skills and stories.

I agree❤️🙏🏼🇺🇸
Always!!

I agree with that
I love it, I'm addicted !!
I enjoyed watching Christina when I was younger, early 2000's. So sad to hear how her life turned out. So not fair.
I went to high school with Christina. They way you told the story was very true to Christina. We miss her so much
As soon as you mentioned Christina Grimmie, my heart sank and I whispered “nooo”. When she died, it felt like part of my innocence died because we were both about the same age. I sadly only heard her music after she passed and it got me through a very dark time in my life. I only wish that I could thank her for helping me
I think this is a bot
The mere fact that she touched so many lives including yours and she lives on inside of us, is grattitude enough. I beieve our loved ones are watching us up above and everytime we think about them they see us and smile

That was the funniest story. She wanted all the attention. She got it.
She was just a year younger than me
I went to the University of South Carolina when the last story happened. 2 things that make it even more chilling. First, Samanthas boyfriend was tracking her location watching her drive in the wrong direction until her phone was shut off/died. The second detail is Rowland was arrested down the street from where he picked Samantha up, presumably trying to commit another murder
Trauma and sickness!!
Everyone was a talking about the story’s but yet I loved the simply safe part were mrballen was chasing his kids. Such a lovely family.
Story #1: How ghastly!!! I couldn't even look at you telling the facts about this gruesome accident. I was already seeing it in my mind. Wow!!❤️
Imagine trying to stay safe by calling an Uber for a couple minute drive instead of walking and this happens. Pure evil. Same with Christina, she was just being kind and gets killed. And don't get me started on the drill. Ron needs to play the lottery.
Christina’s story just made me so sad. she could have been such a big star
Yeah, it's infuriating that someone was selfish enough to carry that mindset, then turn around and be such a coward, and not take any accountability. (by offing himself, let me clarify that.)
So f-ing sad...What a piece of sh**!!

I'm wondering why 'merica isn't trying to improve.
Those psychopaths generally never exist outside of the U.S.
It's like that side of the world isn't taking mental health seriously and ends up with a lot of people randomly killing others.
If you still think that's worth it after hearing her story, she died in vain. Not every deserved to hear her sing. Singing should not be a career.
Good morning.
I truly enjoy listening to your podcast. Always interesting stories, plus you're an awesome story teller. Have a great day.
Just trying to eat my lunch… now crying bc he’s speaking of Christina Grimme 😭😭😭😭
Christina Grimmie still makes me sad. She’s the first artist who made me discover covers in RUclips when she sang Just a Dream with Sam. A friend of mine showed me the cover during lunch time in our university cafeteria. I can still remember that day because I watched so many of her videos afterwards. I miss her. This still makes me really really sad.
Yes, I cried so much when I learned about her death.
She had wicked gawk gawk game too
@@ForeverFinest im laughing so hard right now man your so funny
I came here to comment the same thing... She was a treasure and left such a huge impact on the community. Her death really changed Orlando and I still hear people mention her every year. I was a teenager at the time and the only reason I didn't go to see her was because I couldn't afford it and then some a****** "Super Fan" had to take her life 😭 RIP
