My first realization that we don't always hear all of a video game song came in Mega Man 3, when I found out that pausing as you drop into a Proto Man area let you hear more of his whistle song.
Same here. On top of that, there's a lot more to the game's ending song which uses Proto Man's theme, heard while Megaman is walking left through the woods. A whole new section can be heard past the point where Proto Man's face appears in the sky if you play the soundtrack via a NSF file (ordinarily, the music abruptly changes when the screen transitions to the staff credits).
Crazy to think that iconic OoT Hyrule Field theme was that close to being in TP! I've had that soundtrack CD here for years and never gave it a proper listen.
This seems to be a little know fact because every time the early Mario Sunshine theme is talked about no one knows why it is still in the game's files. This is because it is actually is still used! If you wait on the starting "Press Start" screen for long enough, a demo of the game will start playing showing you all the areas and things to do in the game, and the background music? You guessed it, is the Space world theme. Just an interesting reuse for the song.
Exactly! Tho it is partially correct: the track used in the demo is actually embedded in the video and so it also contains some sound effects of Mario. But there is actually a separate track with no sound effects that's not used anywhere!
Actually Super Mario sunshine’s original music is found in the game and when I played it I found it unintentionally if you watch the cutscenes until the part when Mario says the games name and you wait a little more you’ll hear the music and some gameplay of the full game I remember I was shocked to find that out
The best part about Luigi humming the Luigi’s Mansion theme is that it becomes shakier and more high pitched the lower your health. As Luigi gets more nervous and scared, his humming actively reflects it
"Please don't take pictures or leak this game." I'm still wondering who that normal looking girl in the straw hat is. Didn't see her anywhere in the final game.
I kind of would’ve liked to have heard twilight princess’ alternate take on hyrule field in the game. I still like the amazing hyrule field theme that we got, but still, maybe it could’ve been for some other part of the game?
I remember when all there were was Zelda one and two. I really liked the similarities/differences between those songs. I didn't find it inferior, just a twist. Zelda two is my favorite game ever tho. Then, A Link to the Past came out and I never really questioned it again. Classic overhead Zelda style, different sound and aesthetic. It's all great to me.
I hope Luigi's mansion 3 feels more like the first Luigi's mansion. Abit darker and less comedic than dark moon. Yes, dark moon was really good, but it wasn't as dark. It seemed a bit too cutesy, not what I was looking for.

Your videos provide such brilliant, if minor, insight into classic Nintendo games. The "minor" adjective is not intended to be a negative, but rather a positive. Everything "Nintendo" has been analyzed and documented to such an extreme degree that it really says a lot about you as a creator that you are able to still provide a unique perspective and genuinely interesting insights that have not been beaten to death by the many generic "facts", "top 10/100", "did you know", etc channels on RUclips. You're clearly a very intelligent kid, with a mind for music, and I would gamble on the fact that you have a very bright future ahead of you. Keep up the great work. The only thing that disappoints me is that I'm going to watch all of your content in the next day or 2 and be forced to patiently wait for your new content to be released 😁

The fact that the ghosts also hum the song means they were always listening to luigi humming. Gives you a new perspective of the game. No matter where you are in the mansion, you are being listened to and watched.
Nice clickbait👌 That sounds sarcastic but I actually like it when actual good channels get a good click-through rate and get the attention they deserve. Keep it up
@Thomas Game Docs If you actually happen to see my comment, please try to read and reply to this first part if you can: I am really curious about why you feel the way you do about the sound design for that initial version of the Phoenix Wright song. I really like them and I don't experience them as grating or unpleasant at all. As a composer I am always very nervous about accidentally delivering an unpleasant experience by using a design that only I personally get any enjoyment, satisfaction, or relaxation out of. It would be immensely beneficial to me if you could at all elaborate. Thanks. ;D Anyway, here are some other random responses to the vid: Huh, I always thought the Zelda 2 over world song was a brilliant subversion of expectations. I guess it's because of being exposed to it as a child. It was one of the first times a song really played with my expectations in such a way, so in my head it stands equal with the Zelda 1 main song. ;D Also, never was able to play Luigi's Mansion, but that Akira Yamaoka ish version of its theme is wondrous to me. I think I might compose something with similar instrumentation very soon. I really want to explore designing sounds like those "bass blips" more. Such things are a sort of low key passion of mine as an actual sound designer.
I agree with you completely on Zelda 2's Overworld Theme. It was very well done and didn't have to compete with the original, despite it borrowing from the original. If you look at Link's Awakening, it borrows heavily from the original theme and yet was different and was a very good rendition. Of course, this is all his opinion and I personally disagree with it, but I won't begrudge him of said opinion.
Ones I've heard and was aware of: Twilight Princess' Ocarina of Time Hyrule Field Inspired Theme (from a soundtrack predating TPHD's existence, actually) Zelda II: The Adventure of Link's Overworld starting the same as The Hyrule Fantasy's Overworld Luigi's Mansion's Original Main Theme from pre-release material The Legend of Zelda's Original Bolero Main Theme Super Mario Bros.'s Full Ending Theme Ones I haven't heard and wasn't aware of: Super Mario Sunshine's Original Main Theme from the pre-release trailer Ace Phoenix Attorney (due to my having no experience with the franchise) Fun Fact: Tanaka Shinobu, composer of Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, and Mario Kart DS, is married to Nagata Kenta, composer of Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, and Mario Kart 7. Fun fact:
Language isn't set in stone and what began as a misuse, over time, becomes an accepted alternative
That's why interchanging the names for hyphen and dash are accepted almost universally.

Is it me or does the early Super Mario Sunshine music sound like underwater Super Mario Bros. stages after the “Wo-Hee!” at 9:36?
"vastly inferior main part" excuse me? Zelda 2 main theme is as good as the original one
Wait, what was #6? I know Zelda 2's overworld. How do I only partially know that song?
Same with Mario Sunshine, the video is kinda clickbaity
Your channel is really underrated keep up the great content! I labsolutely love it!
Oooh 21.38 minutes of music lore, I'm a fan :)
the part of miyamoto nodding and shaking his head made me laugh so hard
9:15, Not Only Did Nintendo Use it In It's Files, But They Used It in the all stars Music album.
Wow I'm so glad that you circled and arrowed that random piece of sound in the thumbnail.
"beloved game for gamecube and wii"
*shows wii u version*
I think I like the old Luigi's mansion theme better. Lol
The OG Sunshine theme is honestly really cool.
5:19 I love how Thomas falls for Totaka for a moment 💛 UwU XD
He pretty much said Notice me senpai

This channel is growing rapidly! You deserve it, man.
Myamoto: Do you promise not to take pictures and study it later? It's very confidential.
Ign: Takes pictures, records the whole trailer and posts it online.
Myamoto: 私はあなたに冗談ですか
What does the Japanese mean
Does that mean something or is it just random japanese words? Images..?
I don't know Jack about japanese, I just google translated "Am I a joke to you?" to japanese, but I don't know if the meaning of the joke was well translated.
@@nicolaslucena6411 oh well thats funny than 😂😂
Can we all just appreciate the time to find these secrets, explain them, and the fact he had to learn how to play the songs?

5:23 Kazumi Totaka is my favourite composer (for all his songs in general not just because of his involvement in Animal Crossing!)
8:23 did you just call Luigi's Mansion a Mario game? You just offended me.
What, it's a spin off
@@tripptewell22 ...
I hate you.
“ITS BECAUSE IM GREEN, ISNT IT?!”
Yea, it’s in the Mario is Missing franchise
Luigi's mansion is a luigi game
I think the low strings are scarier than the synth in Luigi's Mansion
Wow. Both Thomas (in the Luigi's mansion game section) AND Extra Credits touched on diegetics! ON THE SAME DAY. Which honestly I didn't know before and I find that coincidence cool
Super Chris Every idiot who attends film university cant shut up about it
Jeez this channel is growing super fast. I remember you were only at 19k a few weeks ago if my memory serves me
I remember hearing the OoT Hyrule field theme while playing TP and being very confused
The key change seemed too much, but you can clearly see Kondo's joy in that part of the song. :)
9:26 that was a bop
I misread the video title, and what I thought it was seems like a cool video idea:
Nintendo songs you didn't know you knew.
Haha, that actually does seem very cool! Idk what songs that would actually include though
5:40 not something I want to see at 1 am thanks Thomas
oh my god your piano playing skills are actually amazing
The fact that the ghosts also hum the song means they were always listening to luigi humming. Gives you a new perspective of the game. No matter where you are in the mansion, you are being listened to and watched.
Nice clickbait👌
That sounds sarcastic but I actually like it when actual good channels get a good click-through rate and get the attention they deserve. Keep it up
Do you know what click bait is?
@Thomas Game Docs
If you actually happen to see my comment, please try to read and reply to this first part if you can:
I am really curious about why you feel the way you do about the sound design for that initial version of the Phoenix Wright song. Thanks. ;D
Anyway, here are some other random responses to the vid:
Huh, I always thought the Zelda 2 over world song was a brilliant subversion of expectations. I guess it's because of being exposed to it as a child. It was one of the first times a song really played with my expectations in such a way, so in my head it stands equal with the Zelda 1 main song. ;D
Also, never was able to play Luigi's Mansion, but that Akira Yamaoka ish version of its theme is wondrous to me.
I think the harp take of the Luigi's Mansion is the most ominous sounding.

i cracked up so hard when the ghosts hummed the luigi’s mansion theme song, am i the only one who find it hilarious? 🤣🤣
I imagined what the luigis mansion theme would sound like if Charles Martinet hummed it
Ones I've heard and was aware of:
Twilight Princess' Ocarina of Time Hyrule Field Inspired Theme (from a soundtrack predating TPHD's existence, actually)
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link's Overworld starting the same as The Hyrule Fantasy's Overworld
Luigi's Mansion's Original Main Theme from pre-release material
The Legend of Zelda's Original Bolero Main Theme
Super Mario Bros.'s Full Ending Theme
Ones I haven't heard and wasn't aware of:
Super Mario Sunshine's Original Main Theme from the pre-release trailer
Ace Phoenix Attorney (due to my having no experience with the franchise)
Fun Fact: Tanaka Shinobu, composer of Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, and Mario Kart DS, is married to Nagata Kenta, composer of Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, and Mario Kart 7.
