This is the ONLY chocolate cake I use for my business and my clients are OBSESSED! It is super easy, incredibly moist and has the best chocolate flavor. I call it a grown up chocolate cake because I use high quality dark chocolate. So rich and fudgy. Because this cake is so moist, it can be tricky to stack so my tip for stacking this cake (for tiers, not a normal 2 layer cake lol) is to freeze it, then crumb coat, then ganache coat for stability before buttercream. The extra step with ganache really makes a difference! Such a good cake! Also, I only use this frosting for my family. I don't use the egg frosting for my clients because of stability. I make buttercream.

    • @jake32901
      @jake32901 4 месяца назад +1

I pretty much only use Italian Buttercream, but the stability issue is definitely an issue.

White Winter Hymnal is not a Christmas song. It was just on Fleet Foxes regular album. It's just that Pentatonix put it on a Christmas album. But also, I've definitely been known to play Christmas music in warmer months just because.
(And yet, I'm the kind of person who gets very grumpy hearing Christmas music in November, or worse October, because while I really enjoy Christmas music, more than two solid months of the same songs is just too much. I want to enjoy all the holiday vibes when it's near Christmas and if it starts in the shops in October, I definitely get sick of it by the end of December.)

That looks like such a good cake!
Because of the time of year it is now, how about making some Elderflower Fizz or Ginger Beer? The latter is quite a fun one, if a little time consuming, because you create a ginger beer "plant", which can be used indefinitely and shared with friends and neighbours as to produce each batch of ginger beer, the "plant" is split in half (it can also be composted if you run out of, or don't have people to share it with). There's a great recipe that I've used in the past in a little book called "Favourite Country Wines & Cordials - Traditional Home Made Drinks", compiled by Carol Wilson and published by Salmon that you can get for a couple of quid.

American flour for cakes is bleached. Bleached flour is not allowed in the UK, so the results won’t be the same. According to Rose Levy Beranbaum, UK flour can be heated to 170 F in the microwave and it will have undergone the chemical change as though it were bleached. You can look up the procedure under Rose’s website.

What kind of oven is it? gas, gas fan, electric or electric fan? You know if it is a fan oven as there will be a circular pattern on the back wall with holes in. I say this as if you don't hear or feel the blow of the fan, it could have stopped working, which could blow the heating element.
Our current oven is 10 year old and I have had to replace the heating element 2/3 times now as i do a lot of traditional cooking and preserving.
Don't forget that fan ovens need to be about 15 - 20 degrees lower than conventional ovens, depending on the energy source. If they don't state fan, reduce the temps if you have a fan oven as it will burn and uncooked in the middle!
    You need a merch apron!
Looking forward to seeing the new kitchen as that one is def for shorter people. I am 5'6 and those cupboards look too low and small.
I was 32 weeks pregnant when we moved into a house in need of love and reno. After, electric, gas and water was sorted on the first week, I was tiling the new kitchen i designed and we built when i was 39 weeks pregnant.
P.s. Go for decaf coffee in the cake, especially if sharing with kids, pregnant people or the elderly. As a once 6 cups a day coffee drinker, it makes a difference. It is just there for the flavour, just like ethanol needs to be cooked out of alcohol. The Beatty's reference instant coffee, which is also weaker than fresh coffee. It also has less allergy problems to it compared to freshly roasted beans.
P.P.S. Food network is owned by WB, a US company. US measurements are different to UK Imperial measurements and old UK cups, oz and lbs. To quote a phrase, "i would just take the measurements, with a pinch of salt!" I like how they use Beatty's and not Betty's. Just like how they use the word "cheddar" in the US, when it is only exclusive in, guess what, a place called Cheddar in the UK. #noshame

Loved this! Would make a great series. Maybe you could try the ‘Get Baked’ Bruce Chocolate cake next? They sell those for £15 a slice 😦 and I’ve always wondered how good it is. Recipe is also available online so you can make your own 🤔
    Have a good day 💙

I'm not keen on frosting, because usually it's a really sweet. But a good frosting, I love lol

The coffee in the frosting actually would have tasted amazing to me, I don't like sweet frosting either.

This looks like a chocolate mud cake that you can get from local super markets here in Australia and they're much cheaper than $100! Haha
