This is the ONLY chocolate cake I use for my business and my clients are OBSESSED! It is super easy, incredibly moist and has the best chocolate flavor. I call it a grown up chocolate cake because I use high quality dark chocolate. So rich and fudgy. Because this cake is so moist, it can be tricky to stack so my tip for stacking this cake (for tiers, not a normal 2 layer cake lol) is to freeze it, then crumb coat, then ganache coat for stability before buttercream. The extra step with ganache really makes a difference! Such a good cake! Also, I only use this frosting for my family. I don't use the egg frosting for my clients because of stability. I make buttercream.
i think a lot of influencers that end up becoming family/mummy bloggers are influencers who didn’t really have a strong content focus before having children? or their focus was on their everyday life so when you have children, it’s a BIG shift and hard to not have content around having children. i kind of feel like grace’s content might stay pretty consistent tbh
Ina is pronounced with a hard “i” like eye-nuh. And yes, her food is always incredible! So glad to see you make the cake. Made it look like something I could make!
The first thing I ever baked successfully was Ina Garten’s “Outrageous Brownies” and they were a huge hit. I can tell you that if you follow her instructions exactly, you will be able to bake any of her desserts with success. She actually tests all of recipes before they go in her books for print.
I think the dairy milk might be too sweet and hence the coffee overpowered it. (Usually semisweet chocolate here is not as pleasant to eat by itself, but often gets used in chocolate chip cookies.)
The conversations you have with yourself are so hilarious and so me. One minute you're talking about cake and the next you're talking about the perfect name for a sausage dog 😭😭😂✨
Hey! So I've been making this for a decade. The Hershey's Cocoa Frosting recipe (with any cocoa you have) is actually better on the cake than her frosting. You'll need to add a bit more milk than the recipe calls for.
Glid absolutely is a word, keep using it!! It's more common in some dialects than others where, because it's a less commonly-used word, the past tense version was forgotten and replaced. So you could say that 'glid' is actually the more correct word. (I remember hearing this discussed recently, I want to say it was on countdown but I can't be sure! 😊)
I made this cake with my 7 year old on Saturday. Couldn’t get buttermilk anywhere so my own version with a mix of sour cream and milk. It is/was an incredible cake!!! Well worth a go!!!
White Winter Hymnal is not a Christmas song. It was just on Fleet Foxes regular album. It's just that Pentatonix put it on a Christmas album. But also, I've definitely been known to play Christmas music in warmer months just because. (And yet, I'm the kind of person who gets very grumpy hearing Christmas music in November, or worse October, because while I really enjoy Christmas music, more than two solid months of the same songs is just too much. I want to enjoy all the holiday vibes when it's near Christmas and if it starts in the shops in October, I definitely get sick of it by the end of December.)
That looks like such a good cake! Because of the time of year it is now, how about making some Elderflower Fizz or Ginger Beer? The latter is quite a fun one, if a little time consuming, because you create a ginger beer "plant", which can be used indefinitely and shared with friends and neighbours as to produce each batch of ginger beer, the "plant" is split in half (it can also be composted if you run out of, or don't have people to share it with). There's a great recipe that I've used in the past in a little book called "Favourite Country Wines & Cordials - Traditional Home Made Drinks", compiled by Carol Wilson and published by Salmon that you can get for a couple of quid.
American flour for cakes is bleached. Bleached flour is not allowed in the UK, so the results won’t be the same. According to Rose Levy Beranbaum, UK flour can be heated to 170 F in the microwave and it will have undergone the chemical change as though it were bleached. You can look up the procedure under Rose’s website.
The Beero chocolate cake is delicious. Evaporated milk us used in the cake and buttercream. My mam used to make it but I note that she made some adjustments in her measurements from what's in the beero cook book. No need to melt any chocolate with this one either, just cocoa powder used xx
If you use your spatula to blend your powdered sugar the briefest of moments, it’ll prevent a lot of the fly away of the sugar when mixing in the stand mixer.
Literally a moment before you mentioned the $100 coconut cake, I'd searched for the chocolate acake recipe and and a website with an ad for the coconut cake popped up. So yes, please make the coconut cake. I've just subscribed to your channel and must say I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation.
Just got to the bit whare you poor the batter in the tins and am confident that cake is going to be perfect. I have been using a very similar recipe for 30 years. Delicious every time. 🎂
@@annemarson4144 Bournville Dark chocolate is 36%. The name may be a trademark rather than a description but the % of cocoa solids is correct as it’s what’s written on their ingredients list.
Baking is a science so following the recipe is a must. I think people add coffee to chocolate cake mix because it’s supposed to bring out the flavour of the chocolate
You need to try Sallys baking addictions chocolate fudge cake, you could also do the British bake offs one to see how they rival each other. But a cake you must absolutely do is the hummingbird bakery’s chocolate Guinness cake. 😋

I like the Pepperidge farm chocolate cake, in the frozen section. It works in a pinch and satisfies that chocolate craving.
Yah. This is the same exact recipe as on the Hershey chocolate can. Listed everywhere on the internet as "best chocolate cake ever", etc. Yup, pretty tasty.
It looked better than any Betty Crocker I ever made. I wanted a bite of that so bad. I agree about coffee which I am not a drinker of. So like you I will lessen the coffee when I make it. Just so you know you inspired me to make this cake. ❤️ 💕. Oh and since sieved which something I never did but I will on this one.
My auntie taught me that buttercream recipe 40 years ago. We didn't put coffee in it. It was lovely and chocolatey. Chocolate cakes using buttermilk and hot water are so luscious. With that buttercream, extra. Refrigerated cakes taste amazing after 24 hours. Fresh cake is delicious too, but something happens during those first 24 hours that makes it sublime. Excellent video. Beautiful cake.

I think they were going for a very mature flavor, certainly with that price so the heavy coffee would hit the spot. I don't know if I'd think it was too much, I have made mokka with fake coffee, decaf and with grain and chichoree instant powder and that is more mellow and will not keep you up at night. So that might work.
