Nice boat. Pity about the bloody awful racket you're using for a sound track. rather hear the sound the boat makes. From an engineering standpoint you can tell a lot from the turbine sound and the sound of the hull / water interference.
Shifting is an amazing setup designed by Turbine Marine - you press a little button under your finger on the shifter which applied breaks to the turbine shaft dropping the RPM to the shift point for the transmission.
You have different gears in this? Why? I understand it with land vehicles. But a boat? Do you have several gears for forward? Why? I get the point of a reverse gear. However, forward gears make no sense to me. Spin prop, go. Spin prop faster, go faster. Please explain to me.@@alvinski100
@@spankthemonkey3437 Yes, the vapor you see coming from the exhausts is sea water which is cooling the exhaust gasses as they exit the turbine via the jacketed exhaust pipes, warm water basically that you can wash your hands in.
I live in Tampa , FL . One day I was out with my camera burning film for a photography class . I had gone to a place call Davis Island . I was there trying to find interesting objects along the shoreline . Much to my surprise a boat with an unusual sound went by . It had docked at the nearby boat ramp . It was about a 22 foot low profile catamaran speed boat with a small turbine engine . Even more surprising was the gentleman behind the wheel . It was Bernie Little ! Famed owner of the Miss Budweiser hydroplane out of Lakeland , Florida . He had a crew of his boat mechanics (2)and his helicopter pilot . He was out in the bay doing a test run, and I happened to catch them coming back in . I ran back to my car and followed them to the small airfield that was nearby . The mechanics had the boat on a trailer and I must have worn a ring around it, checking it out . After a few pics and a couple of polite words to Mr. Little , he and his pilot flew back to Lakeland . This was back in the late 70's early 80s . Turbine engines were gaining popularity back then . A little fun fact about the Tampa area . Up until about 1973 . The hydroplane boat races would race on the bay by Courtney Campbell Causeway . On the southeast side of the Causeway was a small cove . They would use a crane and put in and haul the boats out of the water . After racing here , they would go down to Miami . Unfortunately Tampa was cut from the list of races , as were others . Time marches on .
Thank you @gRosh08 - it was a very interesting time with Turbines in US offshore racing. Now the interesting innovation is naturally aspirated V16's that keep the cost of racing lower than running big turbo V8's - see: ruclips.net/video/7RgCvAcPhvw/видео.html

My grandfather used to race speed boats on the Ohio River way back when. I know he's looking down at this with a big grin on his face wishing he could take the wheel.
it looks a little sluggish in choppy water I’m sure they’ll work it out. I’m gonna turn my boat into a turbine boat by covering up my 4 cy Volvo penta and playing a loud jet sound through my stereo.
You gotta love South Florida...there is so much money there...I have been on one mile stretches there that possess more wealth than all of Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach combined (where I hang my hat).
Wow that dude got out of shape I thought the fellow was just joking about donating it to him.. he did a lot of unnecessary cussing to he must be a Democrat his way or no way..
When I was in the Air Force working on the flight line, they would refuel the C-141s and C5A Starlifters with jp4. What does this boat burn? Aviation fuel?
Damn, that is one serious boat looks so cool cutting through the water with the big rooster tail behind it. If Batman had a boat, this would be it.🙌✅💯💥
Why why why do y’all think you need to add music over the sound of the boat we don’t care about your music if we did we would watch music videos not power boat videos cmon man just let us hear what we clicked on here for
What is the speed of this boat please comment back thank you very much for this video I had a 42' by Haas bepo with triple 572 zoos bored and stroked out almost a 1000 horsepower each and I was good for a 140 miles an hour That's why I'm curious about fast a turbines are thank you
Onken Racing/American Ethanol went 208 down at lake of the Ozarks. I think they’ve taken the top sport 4 years in a row. They say they have 9000 HP I believe. It’s in a Mystic catamaran.
I'm curious to know how the turbines convert to turning the proposals ? I'd assumed they worked like some sort of jet ski jet drive or something bt saw props.
Ooh man I bet those turbines are getting hot just idling around. I’m guessing your water cooling them but I’d hate to run salt water anywhere near those very expensive engines. Are they high bypass ration engines or pure turbine ? I have So many question lol. Sorry. Nice video. Bad ass boat. 🤘
How long until someone making this kind of power starts experimenting with the new "elliptical" prop designs? These turbine boats typically use so many blades, I wonder if it would translate at all.
You know its fast when you can see the propellor strokes in the rooster tail.
Perfect for Bass Fishing
Or trawling...
That would be awesome. An actual bass boat pushin 4,000 horsepower through turbine engines.
Batman’s bass boat.
This comment made my day!
I agree, but it might not meet the B.A.S.S. requirements for HP...... lmfao
Nice boat. Pity about the bloody awful racket you're using for a sound track. rather hear the sound the boat makes. From an engineering standpoint you can tell a lot from the turbine sound and the sound of the hull / water interference.
It’s a turbine, sounds like shit anyway
Sounds like my wife vacuuming!
I love hearing the turbines engage and disengage. Beautiful boat!

"Mav, don't do it."
Permission to outrun the DEA?
It's hard to imagine 200 mph seemingly effortlessly!
It gets surreal over 140mph when it's more about flying than boating :)
