Yep everyone has to keep in mind this was my FIRST time hearing it AND I have heard the Eminem version nearly 1000 times literally. SO I am not a "fake" reactor who goes crazy over everything I hear. Just genuine so for some this is probably not the channel for them. Not saying you Dale I am just saying from a lot of comments I see. Thanks for checking it out.
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Hey Shawn that's exactly what I appreciate about you guys! You call it how you see it rather than unnecessary gushing. Means we can trust your opinion. You have such a varied selection of artists and reactions, letting people request obscure performances to be reacted to. I know some of my earlier requests only have a handful of views but they are special to me and you and Trey could see why. Us Aussies can be overprotective at times, don't take it personally , we are just proud that the world is starting to see some of our best kept secrets 😂😂
When the band drops in you know they have been following her every note. They are right there with her, at the same intensity. Especially the keyboard player. He is with her all the way. The song, the singer, the arrangement, the band - all fantastic. Must have been extraordinary live.
Brilliant! Kasey didn't just 'SING' this Kasey 'LIVED' it. Slowly telling the story...then showing the emotion of the song....then ANGER! Wow I had my hand on my heart and tears in my eyes...Eminem should be proud of the way Kasey delivered his lyrics with such powerful emotion. After her divorced she wrote a song called Captain. I think this was very cathartic for her... Thanks for your Aussie support
Alright Kasey Chambers !! So Beautiful and Powerful a Performance here . Kasey Totally changed up an Eminem classic track and made it something else completely and sang from a different perspective .Nice One Jem and Thanks Shawn 😊
She shredded that banjo! (I think she understands the song is about intergenerational dysfunction - screwed up families that go back generations.) She carries the song from old time bluegrass to modern grunge and gives that beautiful long "time.........." with her vocals. It's a really intelligent interpretation of the song. There's a lot more in the song than even Marshall Mathers ever suspected - which is what great writing is like.
Hahaha glad you liked it Shawn! i love the stripped backed first half, that slowly built to when the band kicked in..caught me by surprise the first time!! I think that is the only time I've ever seen a shredding banjo!!!! As I say I like Kasey but don't listen to her stuff very often but this one took me by surprise and yes it proves how good the lyricism is by Eminem that it can be arranged so differently and still be as powerfull..if not more so! You can really see that Kasey is feeling it and giving it her all...I love it when singers lose themselves..pun intended!
Hi there. I've just discovered your channel and have been catching up with some of your reactions to the classics while I should be doing a few chores. As a 62 year old Londoner I grew up with rock, glam and punk and have seen most of the great rock acts - with a few notable exceptions of bands or artists who had either died or broken up by the time I started going to gigs, when I was 12 years old. So I have to tell you that you need to check out Band Maid - preferably one of their official live performances. Until I heard them my musical taste had totally stagnated and I found myself listening to the same bands I'd been into in my teens and early 20s. Band Maid literally blew my mind. In case you've never heard of them before, they're an all-female Japanese band who I consider to be one of the best hard rock bands to have emerged over the last 30-40 years. The music they play is a kind of mixture of hard rock, punk, heavy metal and pop, and they have an incredible chemistry together. Do yourself a favour and check them out if you haven't done so already. Once you hear them for the first time you'll be hooked. Cheers from the UK.
Hey super appreciate you checking out the channel. We actually have quite a bit of Band Maid up on the channel. Just put it in the search bar. We have so many vids that sometimes it is hard to find stuff! One of our Patrons and great friends on here loves Band Maid and introduced us to them! Thanks!
Thanks for doing this one! This gives me chills every single time I hear it. Kasey going from that resigned, laid back approach early in the song to the fighting emotion later is beyond powerful! 💪🏼 Kasey is very under appreciated and needs to be recognised more on an international scale! Kasey is a master of storytelling, conveying lyrics and emotion! She is an icon in the Australian music industry, mostly for country and folk, but has her own style and is never afraid to delve into something outside the box. She is just getting better as she gets older. I really hope that Eminem has seen this and appreciates that his song and lyrics were re-imagined in such a spectacular way. I guess he has, as he did give her permission to upload to Spotify etc. Would really like to hear what he thought about it though. Where else would you see head-banging with a banjo, steel guitar and rock band together? Kasey started her solo commercial career around the same time as Eminem and she was a big fan of his music. From what I understand, Kasey spent lockdown playing around with some of her favourite songs and this version of Lose Yourself is the result. Brilliant! Kasey has spent her whole solo career bucking the constraints of the record companies and always gone her way. She made it to the top in Aussie music anyway with many awards, becoming the youngest ever ARIA Hall of Fame recipient. BTW….how was that for breath and vocal control? Not to mention the awesome arrangement. ❤ Also, that was Kasey’s Dad, Bill, on the steel guitar and her brother Nash on lead guitar and backing vocal. Full kudos to Eminem for his songwriting. Personally, the reason Kasey’s version affects me so much is all down to the fact that she did lose herself in the music, the moment during this performance. Kasey kept the cadence but slowed it down, even in the full rock part. She is a true blue Aussie who will leave her soul bared on stage every single time. ❤ The video was a montage from the audiences phone vids… deliberately done to make it a more intimate experience.
This is a fantastic comment and I really appreciate you taking the time to share. Great that her family is on stage with her, super cool. And even tackling and re-imaging a song like this, let alone doing it this well, it quite the achievement!
Kasey is an amazing artist, anything by her is worth a look. Another extremely talented Australian female singer is Vanessa Amorosi, they call her the human guitar. Check out her rendition of Natural woman with Dave stewart.
Tones and I, popular for her track 'Dance Monkey' has done a fantastic cover of 'Achilles Heel' on TripleJ like a version. Also 'Tash Sultana' Jungle, live b/room recording is a vibe. Both artists started out as buskers here in Australia.
Great to see and hear all the reactions to this brilliant re-imagining of Eminem's great song...... Kasey uses all her heart and soul to rip out the cutting words of Eminem's lyrics.....This reaches deep into your emotions, you get more than one shot to feel it! Powerful performance by Kasey and the band!!
I love this version, as well as the original. I do get a bit emotional watching this. So much energy and passion. I appreciated your reaction as well. Another great Australian song that has been reacted to quite a bit with good reason is Matt Corby on "Brother" the JJ Like a Version version. A brilliant original performance. One last thing, that was Kasey's Dad on pedal steel, the legendary Australian country artist Bill Chambers. Kasey has a very strong pedigree and deserves all the success she is receiving.
Oh wow that is awesome that was her dad. It is ironic you suggested Corby because I have a reaction of that exact performance I filmed a couple weeks ago, just havent put it up yet. Great minds right haha Thanks!
She is brilliant - a live performance of 'Ain't no little girl' is well worth the look. As far as other current Oz acts worth your look in are; The Teskey Brothers, Gang of Youths, Matt Corby and 'King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard' - all phenomenal artists worth checking out - especially their live tracks.
It was low key and quiet but then you arrive @ "I was playing in the beginning and the mood all changed" and mood all changed. She blew the doors off and in that sense, the slow start was one of the smartest parts of the arrangement.
Check out Russell Morris. Start with wings of an Eagle or Rachel. The the Real Thing. These are from the 70's. He has performed for us for 50 years. The last couple of decades he has mainly done Blues. 🥰🥰🥰
Yep Kelly you nailed it. I am not an OVERREACTOR so I am not going to give some theatrical performance, I am actually taking it all in. As I say in the video I am very familiar with Em's original and love it. Probably need to move along with your sighs. Good luck to you
Who else put that much emotion into a song? The keyboard player maybe, he's going nuts. Seriously, Kasey blew the doors off.

Thanks Christine. I only recently discovered this gem of a performance!

I have never seen someone cover Eminem, at least that I can remember. Such an interesting arrangement. I love how emotive she is!
If you get a chance...see her in concert...I was blessed years ago to see her perform in Atlanta, Ga., best concert I ever saw❤
Wow high praise!
She and her band deserve the praise...they are that good.

Guaranteed to make Marshall’s jaw drop. That was AWESOME!!!
Thanks for Watching!
Best cover ever. She ripped it up. Totally owns the song now. Her emotion and soul made me appreciate the genius of Eminem's lyrics.
Thanks for watching!

“She grabbed the pick”
haha she did indeed!
She is brilliant - a live performance of 'Ain't no little girl' is well worth the look.

Really appreciate the suggestion and thanks for watching @Rastusmishka12!
Watch Stand in Line by Midnight Oil for a cracker of an Aussie rock tune
Really appreciate the suggestion and thanks for watching @davejensen7922!
+1 for this! Make sure it’s the Goat Island gig from 1985: “Oils on Water - 16. Stand in Line”
i wouldnt want to break any dishes in her house.
ol great point Paul!
Who else has covered an Em song - Ever?
lol no one that I know of
Our Last Night have done a reasonable rock cover of it. Not as good as Kaseys IMO but it has 2.8m views so some people like it.
7 mins before we got more than a nod. And that was only cuz she said fuck. Sigh
