Another commentator said it best-- "Kasey has delivered it like the 3 part story it is. Background of despair and anguish of being stuck in a rut... The ramp up of conviction to do something about it... And then the climax of the battle and victory against his plight. After seeing this you wonder how it could ever have been done differently "
The beauty of this is she understood the emotion behind each verse and embodied it in her delivery - raps driving cadence doesn't lend itself to conveying subtler emotions so the fear and trepidation in the first verse never really came through that well, the frustration in the 2nd did and the anger in the 3rd did but that fear didn't. She understood how to bring those emotions to the surface - it was always there but like I said rap cadence isn't subtle. Every choice she makes is about bringing what was always there to the surface and showing it to the world. I am sure Eminem would be proud of it because she's finally highlighted the true brilliance of his songwriting in this song in a way his own style never really could. So many people use Lose Yourself as a song to get hyped and the weird truth is it's about fear of failure and fear of what success will do to you not the expectation of triumph.
Nice reaction. Here's some YES & NO's before all the youtuber comments start. YES - Kasey is brilliant. YES - it IS her dad sitting on the left with a lap slide guitar & cowboy hat. NO - it is not her brother on guitar/harmonies - it's Brandon Dodd longtime band member. NO - there is no evidence anywhere that Eminem has seen this. NO - Eminem did NOT give her permission to put this on Spotify (reality is - he doesn't hold the copyright to his early music - the Bass brothers do through Eight Mile Style publishing.) NO - it's is not her 1st time playing this to a live audience - this was the last night of a 17 gig tour During the various COVID lockdowns 2020/21 in Australia, Kasey was unable to tour so spent a lot of her time deconstructing Lose Yourself & reworking an arrangement that worked for her. It had been received so well they decided to do a live recording of it at this concert & asked the audience to keep their "enthusiasm" in check (which is why they seem so subdued considering what they're witnessing - until the end.) When "they" listened to the audio & fully appreciated how awesome it was "they" were kicking themselves that it hadn't been filmed - Kasey reached out through her social media platforms asking any fans that attended to please send their phone footage & hey presto - a music video is born.
Very happy you posted this. All the right information in one, to the point comment. Much Appreciation. BTW, can we give a shout out to the keyboardist who totally looses their shit here.
Have subbed for this. We love our Kasey, one of the most underrated singers. Try her "Ain't no little girl " also "The Captain " which was used on an episode of the Sopranos.
Embarrassing as it is to admit...I have watched multiple reactors listen to this song, and not only get sheer joy watching and listening to it over and over again...BUT...the best is the joy I get watching the reactors faces as they watch it...this was a GREAT reaction!!! I suggest listening to some of her other music, so many albums to choose from, right now I am loving her album Barricades and Brickwalls...thanks again, have a great day!
For me, Eminem's version is about being young and pursuing your dreams, don't let anything hold you back. Whereas Kasey's version is one an older person reflecting back on their past struggles and knowing there is still more left they can accomplish. Both are inspirational pieces and show the true artistry of Eminem and Kasey.
Rumour has is that some bloke called “Eminem” does a great spoken job of Kasey’s song, lol. I’m subscribing because of your great reaction. Much love from Australia Xx
Great reaction.. please react to anything by John Farnham and cold chisel (Jimmy barnes is lead singer but also has great solo career). John farnham considered to have best voice in Australia and cold chisel considered best band to come out of Australia ahead of even AC/DC and INXS who are also great Australian bands New subscriber
Omg Dan knew you would love this as much as me! It is so hauntingly achingly moving on so many levels, and your face when the instruments kick in was a picture! Thank you so much man
The Bass brothers own the rights through their publishing company Eight Mile Style. Wouldn't matter if Eminem thought it was the best thing he's ever heard - he can't give permission.
Wow, brilliant. Another great cover is John Farnham's live version of Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Nothing like The Beatles original. Great reaction thanks.
Great reaction mate. I've seen so many reactions to this performance now, it's almost molded into my brain. "Rattlin Bones'' USED to be my favourite Kasey Song until I saw this and now, I've seen it over and over. I like it when there are no pauses, so another oh, i'll just make it five of the best.
Love Kasey. Nearly (haven't decided yet because not got into song yet) moved on. Why? Take it as feedback, listen before providing detail of your own beliefs about why you might not like what you haven't listened to yet!!!
This cover has to be up there with Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt. Great reaction, thank you. There's another Aussie cover that got the stamp of approval from the original writers and made it their own, and that's John Farnham's cover of the Beatles' Help - link below. Trust me, you won't be sorry. ruclips.net/video/dv54giOSRKs/видео.htmlsi=tyLLamEHDGeTSIYb
Must be embarrassing to have the bad spelling mistake the whole way through the video and it’s your favourite song? I’d say it was done deliberately to get engagement but have listening to you I doubt it.
She captured the soul of this song.
A+ reaction to an epic cover…Em has seen it and gave Spotify permission to play her version….she was recognized by Em, and got paid
The first two verses are third person and passive, the last is first person and angry. It took Kasey's version to totally understand Em's lyrics!

Raw and emotional, soo good!
Glad to see how much you enjoyed Kasey's cover! I did too! She's a true artist and a phenomenon!

This needs pinning to every reaction of this song. Thanks for straightening out some misinformation
Thank you so much. amazing information
Yes. Facts. 🙂
Respect to you mate. Thanks for the info on this incredible performance.

Enjoyed your sincere appreciation to Kasey's amazing cover! Thank you!
from the land down under..
His lyrics really stand out here. Brilliant writing with a phenomenal performance.
She's amazing ❤
I'll be watching this reaction a lot. The emotion you were feeling transfers to us. It's great!
This is by far, the best cover I've ever seen. I am nearly 70 yrs young, so I've seen a few. :)
Kasey Chambers did to Eminem what Hendrix did to Dylan. Let's hope he thinks of it not as losing a song, but as gaining a daughter.
7:28 Kasey is so good she razed the roof.

Her parents are really cool bikies too .shes so down to earth ❤

You know it's a good cover when it melts the soundproof panel off the wall! Loving your energy, peace from Australia.
Thank you so much. It did make me laugh after it happened. Peace from UK
Your face tells the story here brother. Covers are hard to beat. Jonny cash hurt is one. She did it perfectly
This is brilliant - what a cover. I didn't know 8 mile was in anyone else's top film list...
Definitely mine. It's a masterpiece of a film
WOW indeed fella!!
You get to react to a song like this - The opportunity come once in a lifetime.
She is other wordly.
Em does a fairly good job of covering Kasey's song!

That’s a really astute observation. I never thought of it this way until you’ve pointed it out.
She only got one shot, she did not miss her chance to blow.

Thank you so much. much love from UK
A rare example of when a cover shits all over the original
Brilliant
Check out the Spiderbait version of black Betty for another great remake of a hit
Loose yourself is ALMOST as good as Lose yourself
I'm loost 🤔
It takes an Aussie chick to show you how it's done 😮
Listen to, Pretty enough
@@marieliddicoat732 In case you haven't worked it out, loose and lose are two different words
Best "cover" ever. Brilliant.
She is brilliant
Mesmerising cover, & a great band to back her up

Have a listen to her official release, Aint no little girl . another banger .
I will react to that next week. Thank you for your comment
live performance at the cave is superior to the original release ruclips.net/video/OeWzXIkA8Rg/видео.html
Omg Dan knew you would love this as much as me!
It is so hauntingly achingly moving on so many levels, and your face when the instruments kick in was a picture!
Thank you so much man
Thank you so much mate. It's a phenomenal cover
Em liked this so much he agreed to letting her put this version on her Spotify stream
Em does not own the music rights to this song, do some research
No, that's a silly story.
RUclips comments rumour mill with no basis in reality.
Sheer Genius! Kasey is the ONE.
This not a cover but new interpretation with all the emotion of the words injected to the performance missing from the original rap song
Enjoyed your reaction to this phenomenal cover. Kasey is an incredible artist!
Thank you so much. She's incredible
Great reaction mate. I've seen so many reactions to this performance now, it's almost molded into my brain. Thank you for your kind words
Anything from swing shift . Cold chissel

Hooked in a minute....... love watching that happen 😊
I absolutely was!
Love Kasey. Nearly (haven't decided yet because not got into song yet) moved on. Why? Take it as feedback, listen before providing detail of your own beliefs about why you might not like what you haven't listened to yet!!!
Eh?
Mate calm down. I am allowed my own opinion. If you don't like it that's fine. Move on if you wish. Bless you
Someone needs a hug, lol!
This cover has to be up there with Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt. Great reaction, thank you.
