    Great video. Why do so many people talk about ground forces from the ground then? Are they missing the head drop, even when using Gears? Also, is the head drop actively done? Or it is a function of a proper pivot?

      thank you :- because too much focus has been put looking on the ground / feet / lower body we forgot about the upper body (swing) which creates the forces in the first place, and then the lower body responds to the force (Ground Reaction Force) as Pete Cowen says in the link below "something has got to move something else, so what is moving what? how do you get ground force reaction correctly?" ruclips.net/video/YryfraGMjFw/видео.html
      A kid would learn to swing the club first (arms / upper body) and then over time learn to use the lower body and sync everything up and balance everything out.
      The body responds to force...
      here is a good video about the importance of lowering "Balance Point" (head drop) ruclips.net/video/GPpZ34jP1ao/видео.html feel free to comment :-)

    Thanks for sharing the Pete Cowen clip and providing your interpretation of it. I've long disliked the term ground force reaction and people saying the ground pushes back. The ground is an inanimate object, and it doesn't do anything. Also the ground we golf on isn't a trampoline, and doesn't shoot us up like a piece of elastic connected to free floating springs causing it to rebound. I don't have access to gears to look at pros movements, but I did toss pros into and play around with Sportsbox AI, and from what I recall the downward lowering seems to occur on pros around the time they reach left arm parallel in the backswing (start of transition), and then upward movement seems to occur when the left arm reaches parallel on the downswing. Are you suggesting at the end of this video that conscious upward intention is not necessary? (That would be nice since the swing occurs in such a short amount of time - there isn't much time to think about let alone execute a lot of movements). I've long struggled with looking like I've got a bunch of side tilt, bent right arm, and a scrunched look at impact (maybe a little Dustin Johnson like), and I'd much rather look like a Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Rory Mcilroy at impact where the right arm looks pretty straight, and there appears space between the body and arms at impact. I've felt I've needed some sort of upward to not get the scrunched look at impact, but maybe that's not the case? (I know straight upward is not a solution, because like both you and Pete say that causes early extension.

      I agree the ground does nothing, kids are the best to watch, #1 they learn to swing the bat / club first spinning around and falling over and then they #2 instinctively learn to balance and harness the ground, everyone learns that way. So you do use the ground, but it should not be the first thing you focus on, that's if you even need to focus on it? maybe we don't which seems like what Pete is saying and from my experience.
      As for your question, I found something in my own swing recently, I got sucked into all the ground business years ago preached by the top teachers :-) I was focusing on lower body trying to get open, etc, turns out my hip rotation was the worst ive ever seen it on impact, not open and very bunched up like you are saying with your swing. I did a video on developing Rhythm with the GForce Swing Trainer keeping both feet grounded throughout the swing. If you stop me at impact you will see how much better it is compared to older videos of me swinging, even a nice squat / sit on the downswing.
      It would be interesting for you to try the same drill and video to see if you get the same results? I felt keeping both feet down really stopped me early extending which I also did because of focusing on the lower body too much, it was also much better for balance and stability, it felt powerful.! You will realise the back foot doesn't really need to come up at all, or certainly leave it down until after you hit the ball, Rahm's back foot stays down long.!
      The other feeling I get with this drill, to answer your other question about the extending upwards intention, I feel like I am Bobbing down and then up like a piston, so swing with feet planted and bob down and up, let us know how that works 👍

    Many instructors are now espousing this compression concept. Why does this lowering move not promote hitting the ball fat?

      @gforcegolf  Год назад

      The ground pushes back, so you will extend back upwards a little, and also their low point will be more forwards. You need to try it to feel it and then get trust in it, you will fat and thin to begin with but the body will calibrate, and once you get that feeling of a really pure compressed shot like you have never felt before it becomes easier to repeat it 👍

    What is the feel like….to get the squat …get down…feels like trying to pick something off of the floor???!

      put a chair behind you and sit down into it, maybe some type of adjustable swivel chair so you can change the height, you can improvise and find something around the house to use for this type of drill 👍
